3rd times the charm?

I started collecting Valhallans back in 2nd edition. Sometime around 10 years ago I stripped and repainted a few of those original models but never had the discipline to finish the whole army. My goal for this year is to finish that project, the point in starting this blog is to keep me motivated to that end.

I don't really want to repaint the finished models, but may add a bit more detail to some. The hell hound in particular has a very basic paint job, that I did some time back in the 90's. But generally I will be trying to replicate the same paint scheme that was based on the old planetstrike artwork. I have one and a bit cans of the old skull white primer, so hopefully thats enough to do all the infantry.

I shouldn't need to buy any more models for it, except a hull for the second griffon. I may be tempted to add an extra tank or two.

I do intend to try adding crew onto the basilisk / Griffons with the odd models left over from the squads.

Always nice to see some old-school metal Guard in here - do you have an army list that you're painting to?

This is, emphatically, why I will continue suggesting nuking Guard and starting over again. It's a legacy army that needs to be rebooted with a new focal point.

Confirmation of why no-one should listen to Kanluwen when it comes to the IG - he doesn't want the IG, he want's Kan's New Model Army...

Only Roughly.
I have enough models to make a command HQ with hangers on (commissar, psyker) a platoon of Command squad, 2 Infantry squads and 5 heavy weapon squads, then The third infantry squad can be a veteran squad.
This would fill out the requirements for the old force organisation chart from 3rd - 7th edition.

I don't often get a game in these days so I haven't tried making a legal list under the current rules.

Looks like a nice old school army, with a few nice tanks in support. It’s impressive having that amount of metal lying around waiting to be painted!

The paint jobs on both tanks look nice, can’t wait to see how the rest develop!
