Welcome to my project! I’ve dreamed of doing something like this since my high school days, when my friends and I used to play 3x3 on Dawn of War 1. It was the only one of the three games my
PC could run comfortably, not because I’m that old, but because I was a console player around 2017 and had a really bad laptop. I chose to main Eldar, and while trying out color schemes, I fell in love with the old colors of Il-Kaithe. This led me to discover more and more of the Warhammer
40k universe. However, since I was a broke high schooler in Latin America, I could only buy maybe one small box in a good year. In the following years, as 3D printing became more normalized, I could get more minis, but still not many.
In the beginning, I was focused on both of my hobbies: tank scale modeling and miniature painting. But when I started art school, I stopped my hobbies almost entirely to study other forms, principally woodcut prints, video, photo, and drawing. After some bouts of depression and a major burnout, I quit art school and stopped creating art altogether. I started studying Computer Science, and once I got my first internship and began going to the office, I felt an urge to create something again. I started drawing and planning a possible Eldar army.
I returned to painting miniatures, only 3D prints because it’s cheaper here. At first, I was just painting for the sake of painting: some Eldar here, a Rhino there, some fantasy goblins. But when a friend asked why I wasn't actually playing the tabletop game, I didn't have an answer. After playing with him, I focused on finishing some Kill Teams. Now, with my own 3D printer, I am printing my own 3,000-point army. I keep the scale small, trying to focus on one unit at a time and only starting the next when I am completely finished with the current one.
The first Kill Team I decided to paint was Blades of Khaine, where I tried to create a new scheme for each shrine, but in the end it was all too dark and I hated it. I decided to re-print another BoK
KT and paint them in a scheme I truly enjoy: the helmet with Il-Kaithe colors and the body with colors closer to 2nd/3rd Edition. Another thing I noticed painting was that I was chasing a 'Eavy Metal style because that is the only thing I know that was considered a "good paint job" and because I couldn't replicate the tutorials exactly, I wasn't satisfied. So, researching and looking for new references I noticed how vast the world of miniatures is and I abandoned that and tried something more volumetric, more loose and personal so I could be happy with my own paint jobs.
My project for Il-Kaithe is an attempt at something interdisciplinary, utilizing all my skills. I'll mainly be posting miniatures here, but if anyone is interested, I can provide links to my sketches, my zines, and perhaps even videos or stylized photos I attempt.
I think Il-Kaithe’s concept of unifying the Aeldari races is awesome, but the thing that made them unique was somewhat lost with the arrival of the Ynnari (who, in turn, might be "dead" as a faction now too). In my personal fluff, I’ve imagined a schism within the Craftworld: some allied with the Ynnari, while others, like my group, preferred a different path. Instead of trying to rebuild or summon the God of Death, they focus purely on the destruction and death of Chaos, being wherever Chaos is and punishing them at every step at a state of total war, recruiting other Eldar from other shrines, factions or groups that feel they aren't doing enough, like a mix of the Night's Watch, Grey Wardens and the French Foreign Legion.
I focused on Aspect Shrines for my full 3,000-point army, along with some vehicles because I love them and couldn't go without. Perhaps in the future, I’ll add another 1,000 points of Wraith-based troops, which I also think are very cool. However, it's more likely that I’ll do 1,000+ points of Drukhari to combine with the idea of a unified Eldar army.

Automatically Appended Next Post: To start, I decided to finish my Eldar Hornet that I painted. It was only after I finished that I realized how much I enjoyed painting it and noticed that the scheme I did, with two stripes, would be fun to have another two: one with one stripe and another with three stripes, so there is an idea for the future.
And I made a base, because I have bad experiences with both
GW flying bases and resin-printed ones i decided to make one from scratch using a tube i had laying around and some print mistakes.
I also painted a barricade, somewhat in the Il-Kaithe colors, to use in Kill Team, but now looking at it again i think i will add some purple... somewhere...
