it seems like a huge waste to give your vets flamers?

i'd take advantage of their BS4, and give the flamers to

a standard guardsman.

Well, this is a Cities of Death list and the Veterans are the ones who will be moving forward to claim objectives. With their improved use in cities, flamers just seemed like a natural choice.

If they'll be moving forward and have frag grenades, maybe shotguns would be better than lasguns? I'd also think about sticking at least one melta in each vet squad just in case.

How is a melta conversion hard? You clip the flamer tip off and glue on a melta

A shottie conversion on a Vostroyan probably wouldn't be too hard either...just do a barrel switch between their weapon and a plastic handgun.

I think you could even just clip the muzzle and bayonet off a lasgun trooper and then drill a hole for the barrel. Paint the shotguns a different color than the lasguns (wooden stocks?) and you're set.

After some thought, I've gone and done what everybody does when they can't fit everything they want into their roster -- I added an extra 150 points! I still didn't get that extra Demolisher that I was wanting though. Anyway, here's the updated list:

It's definitely fluffy, but how does it rank in effectiveness? I play so rarely that I'm okay with a list that's not optimized, but I do want to be somewhat competitive and not let my opponent's walk all over me.
