So I am 99% sure the answer is no but I recall a LONG time ago someone noting that they put their grotesques in a raider with a Haemonculi so although I have been reading over the codex trying to figure this out I can't figure out how this would be possible besides cheating.

Drano doesn't exactly scream "toy" to me.

Yeah, that's my answer to a lot of questions.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

So what's the answer?
I don't have a DE codex handy.

I have nothing useful to add.

The answer is: Who knows?

Grotesques can have Raider if they are accompanied by an Independant Character.

But... the only way they can be 'accompanied' by an Independant Character is for an IC to join them... which obviously can't happen until Deployment (at the very earliest).

What happens in an Escalation mission is anyone's guess.

For what it's worth, I suspect that the intention was for you to attach the IC to the unit, in the same way as a Commissar or Warlock is attached to their unit. They simply neglected to include a rule that would actually let you do this...
