I'm trying to figure out what colors to mix to highlight burgundy. Should I start with a base of brown, and add red as I highlight? Or should I start with burgundy and highlight up from there?

I really don't want to end up with red highlights, as there's already a lot of red on the model.

Any ideas?

I'd go with a dark purple/burgundy base (nearly black), one or more layers of lighter tones until you get to the pure burgundy color, and then atop that, one or two pastel hues for the highlight. You could even start at black, have the middle color a dark burgundy and pure burgundy highlights, with perhaps a light burgundy tone for extreme highlight action (x2). Hope that helps friend of the cephalopodians!
