1500 Biker Army

There's a post about biker armies on tactics and it got me thinking about an almost all biker army, no ravenwing, just codex bikers, so here goes.

Traits: The one which gives you bikes as troops and elites.

Disadvantages: The no ally one

HQ

Epistolary w/ Fear,Fury,Bike,Iron Halo,Bolt Pistol                           195 pts

Elites

3 bikes w/2 Plasmaguns, Tank Hunters                                             125 pts

3 bikes w/2 Plasmaguns, Tank Hunters                                             125 pts

3 bikes w/2 Plasmaguns, Tank Hunters                                             125 pts

Troops

4 bikes w/ 2 Meltaguns, Attack bike w/ Multimelta                            213 pts

4 bikes w/ 2 Meltaguns, Attack bike w/ Heavy Bolter                        198 pts

4 bikes w/ 2 Meltaguns, Attack bike w/ Heavy Bolter                        198 pts

Fast Attack

2 land speeders                                                                                 160 pts

1 land speeder                                                                                   80pts

1 land speeder                                                                                   80 pts

1499 points

Basiacally theres a ton of antitank, the elites try to take out lighter tanks and heavy infantry and the troops go after the heavier tanks and lighter infantry, the land speeders just do what they can and try not to get killed and the libby basically does the same, he does have 5 init 5 force weapon attacks on the charge so he can work on characters and big creatures too.   This might not be a tourney list, but I think itll be pretty effective as it can out manuver and flank alot of armies allowing the bikes to concentrate fire and stay out of the way of any real heavy assault troops, as always any input is greatly appreciated.

peace

I'd highly reccomend that you put Veteran Sarges with Power Fists in there otherwise once someone with Power Weapons or their own power fist gets into CC with your bike squads (and that sounds likely since you'll probably be close to use those melta guns) you're going to have trouble.

I concur with Voodoo Boyz here. You really want to flesh out your normal Bike squads to a small degree. I've helped a friend with a White Scars-esqe force, with the exact same doctrines as you. For normal Troop squads, 4 Bikers/MM Attack Bike/VetSgt-PF works quite well as a good all-around force. 233pts sounds like alot, but it can perform alot of roles very well. The Bolters on the all the bikes can pump out good firepower, and the MM can threaten vehicles and Monstrous Creatures, while the VetSgt provides good LD and great CC power. Special weapons are up to you, but since bikes rarely get to fire short-ranged more than once, think if it's good or not to add 20pts on basically 1-shot weapons in your army.

As for your Elites, fill them with Attack Bikes, as per the ruling that Scout/Attack Bikes also benefit from Be Swift as the Wind. 2 MM Attack Bikes with Skilled Riders and Tank Hunters runs 140pts on the dot, and provide vastly superior tank-hunting power due to the range of their guns. Since you can take Scout Bikes as Troops, 1 squad equipped with Meltabombs can be a great 1st turn tank-hunting unit, thanks to their Scout move. Throw in a VetSgt if you want to engage heavy-weapon infantry as well.

The speeders (I'm assuming Tornados?) are, as always, solid. If you compress down to 2 Troop Bike Squads, 3 Elite Attack Bike Squads, 1 Scout Bike squad, 4 T.Speeders, you should save a few points to add TermHonors to the Librarian. Also, taking Veil of Time can be a solid choice for your Stormseer, as when you need CC help, it's nice to reroll -everything- and help a flagging assault out alot.

You have one major flaw with this force. When taking the trait BSatW you must have 5 bikers in your squad. This should be a Vet Sgt with power fist. I agree that your elites should be multi melta attack bikes with TH. I would also swap out that Librarian with a Chaplain.

True but attack bikes shouldn't be in the bike squads. But be used as AT units. You are also going to find it hard to have scoring units at the end of any game with such small squads.

I kinda like the elites the way they are, against any horde army a TL bolter and 2 plasmas are gonna be better then 2 meltas(I dont remember if attack bikes can fire both or not, but either way), plus on the bikes I can fire 2 shots with plasma at what is an effective range of 24"(12 move and 12 range). About the libby/chaplain thing, i want to keep the librarian because there isnt any other real assault squads in the list and it would leave the chaplain pretty much all alone in assault, I'd rather keep the whole force as a mobile shooty force and the librarian supports that better then a chaplain, thats the same reason I really dont want to put fists on the vet sarges, Im hoping that in non escalation missions I will be able to flank most armies and combine shooting to take out close units and minimze assault, it might not always work that way but we'll see. Thanks for the input, but I think I'll keep it the way it is when I get home maybe I'll build it up and playtest and let everyone know how it works.
