Yeah, not too creative on my part but I really can't think of any better way to play Marines with the least amount of new models required. (I want to get back on my Word Bearers as soon as possible.)

Thats one huge command squad (point wise). It will be interesting to see how your scouts and the whirlwind do. It sure would make for a hard fight. I know its the only model you have, but I think (for future lists) your assault sarg should have a powerfist.

Mahu tested his list last night at my house with mixed results. I dragged out the ol' IG again and tried out my new favorite choice...3 10 man vet squads with 3 plasmaguns and 1 LC in each. It was a good game and in the end the IG were victorious. I think we both agreed that he took some mis-steps in his deployment. All things that he will address when it comes to game day on Saturday for the tourney. Boy oh boy Griffons and the vets really caused him some problems. Having 2 hellhounds was a big boost as well. When I get around to it I will post my IG list. It ain't too shabby! Capt K

I just need to get the hang of this army, I spread out way to thin and was issolated. I should have flanked his army as he was spread out as well, but he was able to concentrate on units and take them out before and close combat was seen.
And Inferno Shells are soooooo broken.

Inferno shells are gay, but definitely not broken. It is one of the only real good things guard can take to match all the other craziness that is in other codexes....funny thing is that I have to get that craziness from a frickin IA book and not my own codex...hehe. I say it is a good equalizer that makes guard slightly fun to play again. I think what really raped you and bent you over and rode you like a skateboard was the 3 10 man vet squads....hehe. I'm digging those guys. Very killy. Capt K

yeah but last chancers are risky anyways. I'd rather go with a more straight forward list. Besides, infiltration may not be available, so explain to me how you are going to get all those demo charges into range without getting cacked? Capt K

Right they can do both. However, what if the mission you play has none of those abilities? The point I'm trying to make is that unless you know if those special rules are being used for every mission in a tournament, making a gimmick list such as the last chancers may not work that good. I'd rather have a solid well rounded list. Capt K

it looks like a fairly tough list but i would consider dropping some of the wargear from your command squad and trying to beef up some of your other units. the assault squad could certainly use a few more bodies to help sarge get accross the baord and the dev squad wouldnt mind a few more wounds as well, IMHO. also, i have found that the power fist is much more versatile than LC's, especially against vehcles and MC's, for your vet sarge.
the las plas squads always shine, although you may get accusations of cheese.
why the smoke and extra armor on the whirlwind? properly deployed, the thing should never move, except to maybe grab objectives, or come under fire (except by indirect fire or drop troops, but if someone wastes a drop squad to kill a whirlwind, then you have gotten its points back already)
also, i would split the speeders up into two seperate units so that they can not be destroyed by a single unit's shooting. they can move together but for survivability, it is better to have two targets than one squad.
if your goal is to avoid buying any more models then you did keep your model count down as much as possible, but if you ditched a lot of the kit (combi melta gun on scout sarge, which is close range and a missle launcher in same squad seems a bit odd of a combo) then you could get some more bodies to help keep your important weapons on the board, espeically that scout squad which i assume will be the focal point for your teleporting "punch you in the face squad" (HQ), as any smart player will target them first. but that is just my approach.
