I have been playing around with the idea of creating a 3rd Space Marine army, or at least a squad, and have had the idea of the Praetorate for a while.

Here is the first idea for a colour scheme for them that I had.



And this is what it has evolved into.



It started off as a two-tone purple scheme but I found it too hard to highlight Warlock Purple without going into the pink range and I didn't want pink marines. As chance would have it, I had dried semi-circles of Bleached Bone and Liche Purple. My girlfriend combined the two to form a circle and we both thought it looked quite striking. When it came to the actual painting of the model, I wanted to do something easier than quartering without going the solid coloured marine, so I opted for a halved scheme.

I have a couple questions for you folks.

1) What colour should the tabard be?

2) How dark/light should his face be?

As for the figure...I like the paintscheme. I'd stick with a light or medium flesh tone.

Nova Marines ? That's what they are called I think.

Novamarines are blue and off white quartered, not off white and purple halved.
