Is your Inquisitor Ordo Malleus or Hetericus? I ask simply because it really does matter. If it were a Hetericus inquisitor, I'd have to say a Force Weapon, a Power Stake, or a Power Weapon, in that order. If it were Ordo Malleus, I'd be leaing towards a Deamon Hammer. Now if this is a pure modelling issue, I'd have to say find the coolest bit you can find for the weapon and go with it. Torquemada Cortez's Hammer is a pretty sweet bit. The Grey Knight Force Glaives look pretty cool as well.

I think the best weapon is a psycannon. He can move and fire with it at 36". Give him a sage to make him hit on 2's and you've got something. I wouldn't want to put to much into CC weapons for him. He's still str 3 and toughness 3 and not the best in HtH. I also think he doesn't get the extra +1 to attack with the terminator armor because 'he doesn't know how to use the armor properly' as they say in the Daemonhunter codex.
Make him shooty, but if you have extra points then give him an annoited weapon for assaulting daemons. That, along with sacred incense and the Grimoire, will give him a good fighting chance in HtH with daemons.

I like Psycannon and Thunderhammer, unless you know you'll be up against lots of daemons. I ran an Inq Lord with Psicannon and CCW, but he got rolled by a bunch of kroot (very sad). Now I always pack a Thunderhammer and Holocaust on an Inq Lord. It's expensive, but an Inq Lord is a pimpin' choice anyways and should be able to handle hisself.
But I did bitz order the Anointed Daemonhammer just 'cause it looks so sweet...

Definately psycannon. The other, as far as I've been able to figure, is a toss up. I've tried power weapons, but they tend to bounce off stuff at S3. Even S6 for the T-hammer isn't 'great' (like S8 would be). I'm also not sold on psychic powers. The last time I used one, I rolled 'perils of the warp', wounded on a 2+, and dead due to instant death. No saves of any kind. Granted, the odds are long that it'll happen, but it happened to me at a critical juncture in the game.

Am I missing something? To me it doesn't seem cost-effective to give a 40 point weapon to a str3 model. Most of the stuff you're going to want to force-kill is at least T4, and often T6, so a model with 2 or 3 attacks that hits most other characters on 4s and then needs 5s or 6s to wound (and usually then needs to get past an invulnerable save) appears to have very little chance of actually killing anything with a force weapon.
Also a T3 model using a force weapon has a 6% chance of instakilling himself with a perils of the warp.

Psycannon, hands down. Any HTH weapons is purely a point filler.

If you don't plan on using psy powers, a null rod is great to go with the cannon. Just for fluff and modeling reasons I gave mine a Deamonhammer. Mine has a bunch of goofy stuff just for fluff reasons.

They call it "Adon pattern at my club" (inspired by the world wide known Kyoto pattern..) Inquisitor 70pts. termie armour, psycannon. can deepstrike, cheap enough to use as suicide Ds speeder and is above all an IC.. I run 2-3 of these i any DH list I play depending on the use of any assassin.. The only thing I would ever consider is maybe mastercrafting his psycannon. Those mastercrafted points will generate some points back in kills. Close combat is not what Inqs are for. Mine tend to observe the batlle from afar shooting theier psycannon while poor guardsmen are dying in front of them..

I wrote a tactica in 3rd edition most of which still applies http://www.warmongerclub.com/articles/dhunter.html It all comes down to how you will use them. If he's hanging back then a psycannon is all you need. But you can do him as an assault unit, put him in a chimera with 3 plasma warriors, 3 combi weapon initiats and give him a psycannon and thunder hammer (and maybe word of the emperor). Not an optimal use of him but a lot of fun. ANyway take a look.

I know this is an old post but I thought I'd chime in with another vote for the null rod .
in my metagame there are a couple of thousand son players and other psyker armies and putting my term. armored inq. w/ Psyc and null rod with my terminators or any other expensive unit protects them from a lot of crap (and it makes you feel warm and fuzzy when your opponent tries to hit said unit with wind of chaos). besides I don't see S 3(6) hammers as being that scary and null rods only cost 5(?) poinst more than a power weapon.
I wouldn't take him in a RT list unless I had some dependable intel on the opposing players, though.
