Hello all,
My friends and I are brand new to Warhammer 40K none of us have played at all (I've been following the game since the 80's but never got a chance to really get into it). We are all in the process of gathering together a Kill Team and a Combat Patrol force to get started.
I really want to set up a long term tree campaign that will allow us to start small and to build our armies slowly over time. Ideally each mission will award the combatants X amount of points somewhere in the range of 20-50.
In addition to all of this, I want to establish a few group rules that will encourage us to have the models assembled and painted before each game and to "force" us to build the terrain necessary for each game.
We're all long time gamers and have no problems with meeting and playing a drawn out story line.
The armies that are being gathered are 2 Eldar armies, 1 Imperial Guard army, 1 Witch Hunters army (space marine allies) and 1 Ork army. I'm pretty confident that I can come up with a storyline, but I'm not sure how to get the campaign rules started. A summary of our desires are listed below:
- No Gamemaster as we all want to play
- Tree based to facilitate a believable narrative
- Points awarded after each battle (win or lose) to put towards building our armies
- A wide variety of mission types but starting with small Kill Team and Combat Patrol missions possibly expanding into Cleanse missions until we have the unit variety available to try out the other missions.
- Comparatively eaasy terrain building goals (we currently have 2 4'x4' tables - one grass, one desert, 3 ugly hills, 2 ugly forests, 1 nice rock formation)
Any suggestions?
