This was an attempt to create a model that was inspired by the look of the Samurai, but which still looks like a Space Marine. Built from assorted plastic parts, some plasticard and a little putty. On a design note, I went for a straight sword because it felt more 'mariney' than the much more delicate-looking katana. As always, comments and criticisms welcome.

Nice job as always. I'm not too sure about the marine shoulder pads, especially the skull and cross bones, I know you want it to look like a marine but I think it's too un-samurai. Even if they had kanji on them instead of ordinary 40k symbols they'd look better.
but hey, 100x better than any of my efforts.

Great work Insanak. I really like the use of that helmet- perfect for a samurai. I think this would have been the perfect model for those segmented shoulderpads that come in the command squad boxed set.

this is the first time i have to say "I'd have to see it painted" to one of your models. I'm just really up in the air about how this one translated to your vision. And I don't even know if I can pinpoint why, I just didn't go "wow, look at that" when i saw this one.

I was about to say 'The what...?' but then I went and had another look at my pics... and yeah, it does look a little like a skull and crossbones I think this would have been the perfect model for those segmented shoulderpads that come in the command squad boxed set.
Damn, wish I had thought of that. Definitely keep it in mind if I do any more of these.

It's a skull, alright... but there's no crossbones.
It's the usual Librarian badge: horned skull and lightning bolts, on a scroll.

You should have made one pad simple straight like the 'dress' segments. But its cool nevertheless. Making a samurai army or just for fun?

I think I saw a Samurai SM army in a WD a while ago. they all had the armor around the legs like your guy and the Cybot was somehow jumping over a wall by using his fist. which was very impressive, since it was a metal one.

I considered it, but thought it was one step too many away from the general Marine look. Making a samurai army or just for fun?
As cool as an army would be, no, this one's a one-off for eBay.

Well done, homie! I love the hand pose, the helmet choice is great, the sword is rad, and the armour is tops. Though, other than a Librarian shoulderpad he does not look very Librariany. What are yoru thoughts about adding some scrolls, or trinkets, or familiar?

I like it. It looks really tight and clean, and I thought 'samurai' the instant I saw him. Perfect pose.
What head is that from? I don't recall seeing it before. It is the perfect choice in this case.
