I modelled my Librarian in Terminator Armour holding a Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield.  However the Thunder Hammer is actually a Force Weapon.  As there is no definition of what a Force Weapon is I figured as long as I convert the hammer and tell my opponent before the game begins that it is actually a Force Weapon there shouldn't be a problem. When I am finished painting it I will post some pics. I am happy with it but I don't want to take it to a tourny and be told I can't field it.  Whats the general concensus on this issue?

Just make sure that you inform me of any WYSIWYG-divergent models in your army before the game and we are cool.
Just don't try to tell me that your rhino is actually a Landraider, or other nonsense like that.

Based on GW's standard force weapon modeling it is just a power weapon with some fancy runes/artwork on it so I doubt you will have a problem at a tournament.

I don't think I would let anyone get away with that, I mean come on, a thunderhammer force weapon? That is just way far out and I would never play anyone that tried that kind of cr@p.

Drano doesn't exactly scream "toy" to me.

Who says its a Thunder Hammer, maybe its a Force Hammer. It doesnt say Thunder Hammer on it. Made of lighter materials, powered by the mind of the Librarian. Dave I let you get away with moving an extra inch every turn. Lighten up

A force weapon, by fluff, is simply a weapon marked with proper runes/made of psychoreactive materials that generates a powerfield or similar via the psychic power of the user. Force hammers do exist, they are used in the novel Grey Knights, by Inquisitors in the Daemonhunters codex (daemonhammer) and are present in the Inquisitor sourcebook.
Frankly, if anyone gives you trouble about it, kick them in the nuts. They are just being whiney putzes and deserver it.

If you physically do something to make this hammer different and appear to be something more than a normal thunder hammer, I'd have no problem. Or maybe if you used the hammer from whats-his-name in the Imperial Fists.

If it's just a thunderhammer painted a different color, and you have other CC Terminators, then you may have issues.

Mauve my dying arse.

P1-Normal power weapons are blue

P2-Mauve is a stupid color.

C1-Thunder Hammers counting as force weapons need to be PUCE

See right there in the RaW... Puce.

Can you D.I.G. it?

DIG, are you high or something? Puce is only to be used by hive tyrants for their bone swords.

What a dumb@ss!

What book are you getting that from? You must have an earlier printing because mine is the UK 6th reprint which means it is the end all be all definitive rule.

Of course on page 2.123 it says "The color Puce is only for Hive Tyrants and their boneswords" but it doesn't say that I CAN'T use Puce on my Thunderhammer's counting as Force weapons. So since there isn't a rule saying I can't then I obviously can.

Dillhole. jeesh. ;-)

Besides all the judges know who I am and would probably agree with me anyway since I am soo good and all knowing and so great at knowing all the rules. Capt Anderton ain't got nuthin' on me!

I think it would only be a problem if you had another model in your army armed with a thunder hammer. Around here you can call anything whatever you want, I have one of those stupid metal Imperial Guard Junior Officers with a powerfist. The powerfist is a CCW in the game. That wouldn't fly though, if I called one of my vet sarges powerfists a "powerfist" and my psykers powerfist a "force weapon" and so on. So, my 2 cents is that if you are using a stand in or something close to a stand in the model should be consistent throughout the entie force. All thunder hammers would be force weapons in your force.

Oh, and I don't ever use p-fists in my guard. That was just an example.

I built a two handed thunder hammer for my librarian using a grey knight force halbard shaft with the thunder hammer top on it. Looks pretty good. I have to go back and paint it PUCE now to be in line with the RAW, but those are the breaks for cool conversions. Puce, that's the color of baby poo right?

Right behind you...

Isn't PUCE the color that those nasty WOOPs wear up at West Point? Oh wait, no they wear the shade of grey that looks like death warmed over. Go Navy, Beat Army!

D.I.G - I'm using the ninth printing of the Japanese main book that was faxed to me and then I hand typed into Babelfish and translated. This being the most recent printing that I'm aware of and care to have faxed to me, you are both clearly wrong.

The correct color for force weapons taken from either page 78 or 94 (can't really read it) says (after translation):

"All weapons force painted should be light dull orange in color".

Seems clear to me.

I'm with you 2112.
I think that even though the designers said "puce" they meant "light dull orange" because puce is clearly a stupid concept and they'd never be so stupid as to insist on it.l

I have nothing useful to add.
