Just finished this recon Astartes, and felt inspired to adapt a joke about the Winter War.
A horde of Orks invading the Talvisota region during winter, and their Warboss felt eager at word that this time there might be some Tin Can 'umies called the Forlorn Hope, or 'orlon Somethins. Normally the Space Marines were worth a fight, but these silly gits liked to hide out or something like the Beakies would.
Making their way through thick snow the Warboss heard a 'humie voice from over the hill: 'One Astartes is worth ten Greeksins.'
Eager for the challenge, but not wanting to stop the march, he grabbed four... five... a lots of his scouts declaring: 'Oi go get that git.' And eagerly they charged over the hill roaring their battle cries only to have ten shots sound off in a steady succession, and then silence.
The 'umie voice called out again: 'One Astartes is worth a hundred Greenskins.'
So the Warboss sent lots, and lots and lots over the hill to the sound of roars and shooting up in the air, but then after several minutes silence.
The 'umie shouted back: 'One Forlorn Astartes is worth a thousand Greenskins!!'
Enraged the Warboss sent as many lots and lots and lots of his Boyz as he could bring up over the hill with the boom of heavy weapons, and many vehicles and the eager roars of 'WAAAAGH' from his Orks. The battle continued for some time, but curious what took so long to get one git he sent a lookout to see what was wrong wif the fightin. The lookout saw most of their horde already dead, and the survivors confusedly firing in different directions often at each other in their enraged confusion. And charging first one way and then the other to no results as they could not figure out the direction of the incoming fire.
Realizing the terrifying truth the lookout ran back to the Warboss warning: 'Boss, donz sen' in any more Boyz, iz a trick: de got two gits over there.' |
