I painted it black, then used thunderhark blue for the main uniform. Head and gun got a coating of grey (leadbelcher) and the gun itself is then painted (in a pattern I made up, of course) in copper to give it that steampunky feel I think these guys get. While this guy's eyes are augmented with runefang, and things like grenades, knife handles, etc are given the leadbelcher/runefang or the leadbelcher/copper. Similarly, his commo thingee/light on his shoulder is first a grey and then a light silver.
This guy isn't finished in this picture, like all of his unit, he will be eventually based in mud, mud, glorious mud, and various highlights and details added. I gave a large percentage of the troops either green or red lensed eyes instead of the silver light eyes, too.
The whole little tempest army works really well in this color scheme, it has, to my mind, a very 1940s science fiction look to it. |
