Image Description: Combined reconnaissance forces of the 132nd Commonwealth Combined Rfiles and the Klomn 2/24th Tank Regiment move in to counter an enemy probing attack. It is likely that the main force is concealed in a fold in the rock or a depression. The fighting conditions were particulrly brutal to infantry soldiers as they were forced to lie on the baking stone for hours on end to and to take cover in the slightest feature in the rock. Stone sangers were built because the ground was unsuited to digging in, cuts and grazes to stone chips was part of everyday life. |
