 Sorry for the late reply :( Camera is a canon powershot sx200, its not really a great camera for miniatures but I can't really afford anything better atm.
Light setup is a white lightbox filtering a very strong whitelight lcd from above and 2 warmer lot watt bulbs from each side, only way I could illuminate the side areas without greying the black. Background is -Drumroll- an old t shirt :) |

 how did you get those white areas so smooth? fourty thin layers of skull white and water mixed 10/90? |

 Astro grey base, then highlights working from astro all the way up to skull white in very careful mixes with blue/black mix washes carefully used to define any shadowing. You do need to water down a lot but I would recommened using an acrylic medium instead of water, as it gets to the point where the paint is so runny that controlling it becomes an issue. |
