Image Description: Base coat of dark brown. This paint normally takes two coats, so I do one initial coat for basic coverage, let it dry, then apply the second coat which is mixed with fine sand to give it a nice texture for drybrushing. You'll notice that the grid lines are nicely visible and when it's done they'll look darker than the surrounding flat areas, making it easy to see where the edges of the "squares" are.
I chose brown rather than gray because (1) brown is a richer color than gray and I like it more for earth rather than rock, and (2) I have a huge bottle of brown paint from Amiri armor and the other brown terrain hills I made. |
