Image Description: I went for a dirty "too long in the ground" bone-yellow for painting these guys, to give the illusion of age. I used an ink mixture that I've had in my collection since the late eighties. One I'm running dangerously short of. It was made from a mix of the original Citadel Green, Brown and Yellow inks. I've tried to replicate it since, but failed dismally each time. I just can't replicate it with the newer Games Workshop inks.
The ashigaru are easily the flimsiest miniatures I've ever had to build or paint, the legs on these guys are fish-bone thin and about as sturdy. Being made of of a ridiculously unnecessary number of parts doesn't help their durability. Worse, their legs were so flimsy that it was impossible to pin them to the base, even using my thinnest drill bit. Of all the guys travelling to the Ukraine as part of this order, these are the ones I'm most worried about.
