I started with Rakarth Flesh as the base, washed it with Reikland Fleshshade, then build up wth Pallid Wych Flesh and finally highlighted with White Scar and Pallid Wych Flesh mix |

By scratch built, do you mean scratch built from the assault marines box set? Would recommend thinning paints, and maybe giving the armour a wash.
