The barrels need something done to them. Paint them black, or firey, or yellow, or drill them out or something.
The highlighting is pretty clean, but the gold-on-green doesn't give it much of a shaded feeling, it looks more artificial.
The painting is pretty clean, so I think you're probably getting to the point of moving to the "next level" in your painting, and incorporating more shading techniques. |

I do plan on drilling the barrels as soon as I find a replacement pinning set. As for the green/gold, the heraldic 'rule of tincture' requires that a color must be separated from another color by a metal. The lines that don't require that separation eventually will get highlights. (I explained in a bit more detail on my painting thread.) |
