Thanks! To be honest, I can't quite remember exactly how I did this as it was years ago, but at a guess, the overall desaturated look came from mixing a pale off-white into my yellows, reds and blues for the highlgihts, which created the contrast with the highly saturated purple tones on the hair and skin. The metals were likely just a drybrush of gunmetal roughly shaded with an Agrax Earthshade wash. I think just the colour choice is doing a lot of heavy lifting here, with the brighter/stronger colours focused at the top of the model while the lower half is darker and doesn't draw the eye away.
