We are starting a 40k forum dedicated to all aspects of the hobby. Having looked at your forum we feel it has some valuable points which we’ll hopefully learn from. 

 

As an extablished forum any help you can give us would be appreciated, please take a look for yourselves and let us know what you think, leave feedback in this thread, we’ll take all suggestions into serious consideration.

 

This is not an attempt to steal members from your forum, we would just like feedback before we go fully live, so we can make all the improvements to make this a sucessful forum that satisfies the needs of 40k gamers in a similar vain to yours.

Looks very promising. The only suggestion I'd make is you may want to rethink your banner at the top of the page. If GW comes poking around, the use of Horus Heresy cover art might be an issue.

 

I actually considered this before using the image.

I've noticed 3 other forums that use GW art in there titles. I won't name any names but I do agree with you.

The Header is due to be changed in the next couple of days so I'm going to look into altering it then.

That's all nice an all, but did you ask permission to start posting on Dakka? Because I know you didn't ask for permission on a number of other sites you decided to troll and solicit at.

Also were you sending PM's to all the different dakka users too or was that also just at those other sites?

 

I understand what you are trying to do, it's a nice site but maybe the other sites would be more apt to jump on board if proper etiquette were followed? Or at least allow you to post on their forums....

For the record, I was able to find out what was happening.

Apparently one of the other users at your site decided to be a bit over enthusiastic in trying to recruit for your site. They did so using the same user name as the Admin on your site.

So that's what happened. It wasn't the admin of Heresy-online that was soliciting it was one of the users.

Nice looking site. I've got no problem with folks announcing new web sites/forums here on Dakka, as long as it doesn't get spammy (posting it over and over, or bumping)

Yeah, the problem El Gob was talking about was a user spamming on another site (complete with oodles of PMs and emails to a large number of people) to promote the new forum.

Things have certainly been going well for us over the past year.

We've managed to build up a dedicated following, upgraded to vBulletin and even started thinking about an annual tournament at Warhammer World.
