Very nice. He's nearly unrecognizable as the Emperor's Champ. The sky/earth on the chest piece is really well done too. My only thought is that the dark part of the pistol needs a little more highlighting.

Ah you find a solution to your sword problem. I was thinking about suggesting red but was not very sure about it. A kind of white crystal structure would've been maybe nice, too. This lava red works pretty well. Nice job.

That's some extremely good blending on the armor & I like the armored weathering. It all holds up very well under the scrutiny of the camera.
A thought for you on the loincloth - mud/water on cloth is not going to stick like it does on the armor. Instead the water is going to travel up the cloth & slowly stain most of the length of the loincloth, then the mud will cling at the bottom in the fashion you have painted.

Thanks for the comments guys ^_^ I really appreciate you taking the time to put in your two cents!
Cosmic- That's really what I wanted to go for. I didn't want him to be the emps champ. I wanted him to be something new and different. I think I succeeded pretty well to that end. I might end up bringing out some more highlight on the gun when I come back to do the chapter symbol for him. But I've just spent so much time on this ONE VETERAN o.o...that I need to move on or I'll go insane.
Joe- I was really trying in my head to make the blue work. But it just didn't click because of the palette I had so far. The red is only from colors that were already used on the model so far, and I figured it could only tie him together more if I went that direction ^_^.
Bopp- Thanks for the compliment ^_^. Weathering is a big theme for me and most of the models I paint.
Cid- I'll definitely think about the loincloth weathering the next time I have a go at painting it. It makes sense. A quick wash of snakebite leather could probably handle that effect.

Grah, I'm so jealous! Wish I could paint a blade like that. I have no patience for it though!

When in doubt, call the Arbites. When they can't handle it, call in the guard. When THEY can't handle it, it's time for Exterminatus! |

Just a reminder: Please do not add to old threads unless you're adding new information to an old project or if it's a mostly unused forum. It's called Thread Necromancy, and we discourage it here on Dakka.
If in doubt, it's best to start a new thread on the topic.
Thank you!
