Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

Here is my LVGT list:

HQ

Eldrad

Avatar

Elites

5 Striking Scorpions
1 Exarch w/Scorpions Claw

 4 Harlequins w/Kiss
1 Shadowseer w/Kiss
1 Troup Leader w/Power Weapon

Troops

10 Guardians w/Brightlance
10 Guardians w/Brightlance
10 Guardians w/Brightlance

8 Dire Avengers
1 Exarch w/ 2 Avenger Catapults and Bladestorm

Heavy Support

Falcon w/Starcannon and Shuriken Cannon, Holo-Field and Spirit Stones
Falcon w/Starcannon and Shuriken Cannon, Holo-Field and Spirit Stones

 4 Dark Reapers
1 Exarch w/Fast Shot

I wanted an army of footsloggers, and guardians. Everyone says that Guardians are not that good, but I like that they can move and shoot a heavy weapon, and if they get close, and shoot a lot of small arms fire. The avatar, and to a limited degree Eldrad help them be even better by making them fearless, and guided.

Game #1

Table #45 Lava

Mission: Patrol
You start the game with one troop unit on the table, and that is it.

I was playing a local by the name of Buck. He was a nice guy who was playing what I thought was an "interesting" army.

Necons

Necron Lord w/Res Orb, Veil of Darkness, Warscythe
Nightbringer

11 Warriors
11 Warriors

5 Destroyers
5 Destroyers

Monolith

I thought phase out will be pretty easy, since there is not much I can do to the Nightbringer, or the Monolith, so I will just have to kill the necrons. …I could be wrong though.

He wins the die roll for table sides, and grabs the side with the few pieces of rocks in the deployment zone. He also wins the die roll to go first.

Turn #1

http://i.pbase.com/g6/69/133269/2/80123275.PON6NjPH.jpg

We both start with a troop (Dire Avengers for me, and a Warrior squad for him) on the board and grab some cover. (yawn)

[b]Turn #2

http://i.pbase.com/g6/69/133269/2/80123281.2OndAgue.jpg

This is the bottom of turn #2. He gets his Lord and moves him up behind the warriors. He gets a squad of destroyers that shoot my Dire Avengers, killing 5 and making them break. And the Monolith creeps onto the board.

On my turn I get a Squad of Guardians, the Harlequins which board the one Falcon that made it onto the table. The Falcon shoots and takes out 2 destroyers.

Turn #3
Business is picking up!

http://i.pbase.com/g6/69/133269/2/80123284.sxnR0bFt.jpg

For reserves, he gets a squad of warriors, and the Nightbringer. His 2 destroyers stay down.(He was the first necron player who rolled less than average for WBB that I have ever played)

He Veils his Warrior squad in to my deployment zone, and rapid fires on my Falcon knocking off a weapon, and stunning it.

http://i.pbase.com/g6/69/133269/2/80123288.RY796kM6.jpg

On my turn 3 my whole army except Eldrad and the Dark Reapers shows up, and good things start to happen.

My Harlies get out of the falcon, and the scorpions walk up to the warriors from the table edge. My guardian squad unloads on them, and drops a few warriors, and the Scorpions and the Harlies kill off the rest in the assault phase.

Turn #4

http://i.pbase.com/g6/69/133269/2/80123291.Rv9uGq5D.jpg
Since he has not other warrior unit within 6", the warriors that I killed stay down.
He gets his last unit of destroyers on and starts to shred guardians, and he Lord veils away before he gets sent to the scrap yard.

http://i.pbase.com/g6/69/133269/2/80123304.paKP9qa9.jpg

I get the last of my units on , and start to shoot at destroyers. I mount up my assault units, and start to set up for the last turn push.

Turn #5

http://i.pbase.com/g6/69/133269/2/80123308.8EvUxLdC.jpg
He does not have a lot of shooting left, and he killed the guardians that he can reach, so he does not do much.

http://i.pbase.com/g6/69/133269/2/80123309.6CehIVLL.jpg

I move my Falcon forward with the Scorpions, looking for a last minute assault on turn #6. I only move my other falcon up 12" so I can shoot it at the destroyers, and try to take out the nightbringer with my harlies if I want to try it.

Turn #6
Here is where it gets fun...for him.

He has left: The lord, the warrior squad, 1 destroyer, the nightbringer, and the monolith. He shoots the destroyer at the falcon with the harlies on board, and hits only once, rolls a '6' to glance, and then rolls boxcars to bring it down. Then he shoots the warrior squad that the other falcon, and ends up with 3 glances. He ended up destroying it on the second shot.

And that is pretty much the way the game ended. He ended up getting about 400 points worth of falcons on the last turn, and ended up stopping my assaults.

So I ended up the game in a tie, and it was time to head to table #42

Tomorrow Game #2

Neat-o. Posting pics with forthcoming text is like a teaser. . .very nice. For the time being we get to make up our own captions for the pictures and Imagine what wonderful things happened.

Man isn't "Patrol" and exciting mission? Your Avatar made it a whole 18" onto the table!

See, I switched to the gatorade on Sunday, and I did better. Maybe the squirt effected my scores.

I can't see pictures either. I tried explorer and firefox.

On a side note, I played in the GT as well and say at least 3 of the FW Avatars. They look very nice painted up as the centerpiece of an army. Too bad they aren't that great.

I look forward to reading about the rest of your weekend.

I cant see the pics, but after seeing yak comment on them before the rst of the people started in, I copy and pasted your image properties into IE and all I can say is.....those table need more terrain. That is some ridiculous one sided edit going on right there. SAFH Heaven anyone? Jeez.....Things like this arent helping me rethink that adepticon is the only way to go.

Nice army by the way, the guardians help breaks a little bit from the Eldar cookie cutter. A bit

The not lava tables had way more terrain. Maybe to much on some of them.

Too much terrain on the non-lava boards? Not IMO (and this is coming from someone playing Guard).

I will say that the tournament's decision to class pretty much everything as area terrain was a mistake. IMO Hills and vehicle wrecks should have been played as WYSIWYG just like the rulebook suggests.

I don't think there was a single 40K table that had 25% terrain on it. I played on 2 lava tables and hated the terrain each time. The 3 other games were all on the mixed tables with 4 pieces of terrain each.

The top tables had plenty of terrain. The higher you went, the more there was.

When you have to provide terrain for up to 80 or more tables I can understand why some were sparser than others. Now that people know what to expect hopefully there won't be so much digression on this off topic subject.

#1. This is a bit of thread necromancy since this thread is over 6 months old.

#2. He ported through the monolith when ever he could. Remember that you have to be within 6" of the same type of model, or they are not getting up, so I was trying to wipe out those squads that wandered away from their friends.

Lack of terrain was a major complaint at the LVGT.

Dave Taylor was very responsive to any problems this year, and at the Baltimore GT they had a lot more terrain.
