Lesser Daemon of Chaos

Groningen, The Netherlands

Hi Dakkaites,

So, no-one posted the contents of forgeworlds 166th newsletter yet? Still, it's very nice, especcially since it contains the rules for the Nurgle Greater Daemon in concept.

 Hello everyone,

In this newsletter we have some good news for fans of `Aeronautica Imperialis` with the latest batch of releases for our new game, Also we have some cool new photos of painted Death Korps of Krieg and our Eldar Avatar, as well as some experimental rules for the Great Unclean One.
Thx,

Alan Bligh & Ewen Little.

Air War Escalation
In our expanding http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/RULES_AND_ACCESSORIES.html` range we have several more releases for this newsletter including the Vampire Raider for the Eldar and scenario-enhancing models such as new silos and bunkers for the game. All are available to pre-order now for shipping from Monday the 26th of February onwards via the http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/QUATERMASTERS_STORE_NEW_STUFF__11.html

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/aivampire.htm. This heavy hitter for the Eldar strike host has all the speed and manoeuvrability you’d expect, and enough firepower to destroy the heaviest opposition with ease, the Vampire Raider is greatly feared by the pilots of other races. The Vampire Raider fills the niche of troop transport in the Eldar sky host that the huge http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/ethunderhawk.htm we showed recently does for Space Marines, but with the benefits of added speed and manoeuvrability. Model Designer Will Hayes has managed to re-create the fantastic detailing of its 40K scale counterpart in miniature, but even though it has shrunk down to Aeronautica scale, the Vampire Raider is a surprisingly large model with a wingspan of some 86mm/3.5inches!

Also released on the 26th is a superb rendition of our http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/aiarvus.htm for Aeronautica, again exact in every detail to its larger counterpart. This stalwart Imperial transport craft, while unarmed, is perfect for many scenario games where the goal is more complex than to simply duel with enemy aircraft, as well as being great for making airbase scenery and dioramas for your games. (The ungainly and workmanlike Arvus Lighter is one of my favourite designs. Now I can have a fleet of the little flying bricks to zoom around the table with! - Ewen)
In a similar vein we`ve also produced highly detailed new models representing http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/aihflak.htm for use in bomber and air raid missions as well as in campaign games (and of course they’ll also appeal to the Epic 40,000 gamers and grace their battlefields too). On a somewhat more lethal note also out is the Imperial Heavy Flak Gun to defend your airfields and bases with!
Look forward to more `Aeronautica Imperialis` releases soon.

`Aeronautica Imperialis` availability
Since its release, we`ve had enquiries from people like yourself, asking where they will be able to pick a copy of the book and some models? The answer to this is that `Aeronautica Imperialis` and the great new range of models to go with it are available pretty much exclusively from Forge World via the Forge World online store, and of course anywhere you see our stand at events and shows.
You can pick up Aeronautica in limited quantities at a select few flagship stores, (Call us for details), but do check what they’ve got in stock with them first before making a special journey.

Plague Daemon
It`s been a while since the release of our most despicably corrupt model The Great Unclean One, and you can now download http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/downloads40k.htm.

Colours of Battle
Also up on our website toady are some new photos of excellent painted examples of our Eldar Avatar by Darren Latham and our http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/dkkhb.htm and http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/dkklc.htm by Paul Rudge.

The First Forge World Open Day
In the last issue of the Forge World Newsletter we mentioned our hosting a Forge World Open Day on April 1st. After receiving a few enquiries, we can confirm this is for real and not a hoax.
Being held here in Nottingham at Warhammer World, the day promises to be a great opportunity to come and meet the Forge World team and we plan on having quite a lot laid on to grab your attention and get you involved.
Of course we will have a large sales stand and anything that you might want to buy we will get picked and packed from our warehouse that day. Tony has said that there is a possibility that we`ll have some new, pre-release models available too, but we`ll be able to confirm details as the big day gets closer.
As our offices, or `The Lair` as we know them, are right round the corner in a secret, dormant volcano, which many of you might already have guessed, we`ll also be able to put on the biggest display of Forge World models anywhere so you`ll be able get a good close look at whatever you want.
We’ll be hosting seminar/Q&A sessions throughout the day, working on the details of a painting competition, Forge World Design Studio areas and ‘how-to’ hobby workshops too. Details on all these attractions and more will follow in future Forge World newsletters.
And as this is the very first Forge World Open Day, we have decided to make entry completely free! We won`t be taking over the entire hall on the day, that’d be rude! We`ll be sure to leave gaming tables for Warhammer World regulars and first-time visitors alike. In fact, all the usual Warhammer World attractions will be available for everyone, just with Forge World thrown in for free!

I purchased two of the new(ish) Thunderhawks for Epic Armageddon. $70.00 for two small models. They haven't arrived yet, so I still feel dirty.

I asked them to clarify the GUO's "truely invulerable save". Does it protect against Psycannons, C'Tan blades, etc...?

The Greater Unclean One is truly insane. Toughness 9 (4+ to wound with a lascannon!), 10 wounds and a 4+ invulnerable save on top of it! Did anyone at FW computed that it requires 40 successful lascannon hits to kill the creature on average? Even at a price of 770 pts, it can beat any 2000 pts army single-handedly.

I thought C'tans were supposed to be the upper limit but the GUO owns them completely. Hopefully FW rules are not official... Yet.

The way i read it, the invul save is a normal invul save. it doesnt say that it ignores wounds from things that ignore invul save, just wepons that dont allow saves, such as power weapons.
That point is irrelevant though. Necron Lords and Pariahs wont be able to wound it as their strength is 5. Wounding a 9 toughness model is impossible.
A C'tan will be required to go toe to toe with this GUO as their strengths are 10 for the Nightbringer and 9 for the deceiver. Thier attacks are basically those of a warscythe. At that point, the C'tan will most assuredly fall at the hands of the GUO with the decay blades rules, even with the GUO's lower Initiative  value.

The FW GUO rules are nasty indeed though. While the GUO's toughness is indeed worthy of Nurgle himself, this model will RULE any tourney that allows FW models to participate. a whole lot of models will be needed to dedicte their attention at the GUO in order to take it down. For once, FW has undercosted a model. Adepticon beware!

Any smart Necron army will do quite well with their gause weapons, snipers, demonettes, stealers, and tornados will also do a world of hurt sine toughness is irrelivent to reaping/rending. Granted it will take concentrated effort, but for 777pts, I'd expect so.

As for the save, I disagree with you. "It may make a 4+ Invulnerable Save against all wounds it takes, even those that would normally permit no save" Bold emphasis is mine. Several weapons say you get no save of any kind period. This says you get a save period. Which period is right was my question to them. I do not believe they are re-explaining invo saves in the 2nd part, but making an addition to it. A TRUELY invulnerable save, which is mighty scary with the T/W on this guy.

That wording's not strong enough to convince anyone but an overly-optimistic prospective buyer. I can't imagine any opponent going along with your interpretation.  It would have to explicitly say that it works even against weapons which normally disallow invulnerable saves.

GUO doesn't appear to have the Mark of Nurgle, and no Nurgle's Rot. An oversight, or intention?
