So thanks to My friends , I have finally decided to start on my IG. The first models he showed me were enough that i decided to trade for them and start working towards my next squad. They are currently a mix of Catachan bodies , arms, and legs with glade guard cloaks and Faces. I like the look alot but have had some issues with the arms. Alot of people i have showed them to say the arms look to big, so im gonna post 3 pictures and see what you guys think. Alot of the look from the cadian spur doesnt look promising since cadians are too heavy for my taste ( and since everyone plays them). Overall im trying to keep them as close as i can from the fluff and books along with the artwork for them.

That was back in August 2010. It is now 2011 and my itch to play guard is back. Having left my 1500 points at home , ive decided to start my small budding IG army down here and it has to theme with the one back home hence Tanith / Phantine / Padrus !

Here is what tanith are suppose to look like:

This is DAVE TAYLORS work that i have used as inspiriation for my own:

This is MY OWN work as down below

Only got 4 done (out of like 80?) but its a start. Special Characters are as followed:

Major Rawne (Beret)
Feygor (mohawk)
Mkoll (Grenade)
Crid (Female)

This should go in P&M Blogs, showcase is for finished models.

Looks good for a first GS job, though!

Some work ive done on my Inquistors,

First one is a attempt at Adrastia from DOW II: Retribution (overall not too happy with it, but i ran out of time this summer to work on her)

Second one is of Inquistor Urmarus from our our DH group.

Inquistor Umarus was a interesting character to build for many reasons. First off, he was a combination of ideas presented by myself and the GM on a different type of Inquistor. We decided that he would be a Xeno Hybris Radical. This idea of a inquistor interested in and encouraging his retuine to find and use xeno artifacts presented alot of modeling opportunitys. It also presented a change from the norm for how some of the models would be built. I wanted the model to look imperial and demanding but yet have some less gothic features. Finally in the end, I took parts from many kits and came out with a rough design. Well not completely satisfied with the result, I feel that for the moment, it'll have to do till i can come back to reevaulate it. Once that has happened, I hope to get some pictures up for all to see.

For Gameplay purposes, I will be fielding him, as well as the other members DH characters as a Company command squad for my tanith in certain games. I figure a Inquistor leading IG into battle is a 40k image and am excited for the chances to play him on the table

It looks like you could use some work on your greenstuff cloak technique. Try making the cloak an even thickness and smooth before wrapping it around the model to avoid blobbiness.

Well i got the 1st of 2 packages in the mail today. One was from maxmini and the second from chapterhouse for my Tanith and Phantine Troopers. Today i have to show you the Chapterhouse order of 6 female heads for my tanith. Im not sold on whom will be whom yet but i do think im gonna have my Criid, Branda, and Jess soon enough for the troopers i do have with me while im off at Uni.

The Pictures:

and a view of the spur:

overall im very impressed with CH and their work! The flash was clean and the molding was bar none very clean! Once i get some free time im gonna break open my IG battleforce i have laying here and see how they work out. Hopefully part two of this post with the Maximini stuff will be arriving soon!

I going by the theory that only a headswap is needed to make female guard and the extra...."looks" required of the female figure when added on to combat armour and someone in top physical shape wouldnt be much of a difference. However one of my buddies whom plays DKoK says that he feels it will look wrong. I showed him this source that i felt summed it up, however he remains unconvienced:

quoted from another source:

I have a fellow IG player in my area who made female IG. I gave him this pic as a reference for females in modern militaries;

Breasts (which was a massive concern of his....fetishes.....) are truly not a concern, as noted. Seriously the body armour issued to us totally covers all the assets, the same effect happens to fatigues, but it's artistic license if you want your female IG to have a slimmer looking waist

Found some more of my models from the stuff i did over the summer, I hadnt realized these pictures werent up here yet. Overall im not too happy with these and they were stripped and completely redone. Since i cant get to them at the moment (there at my parents house, im off at uni) these are all i have to show but the main work was redone and all the characters and GS completely changed around

Please note in the group shot you can see the redone models for Mkoll and Rawne. Those two were stripped in simple green and redone again! Im my own worst critic when it comes to getting this army right. As the pictures show, i never got the hang of GS'ing berets. may have to try again over winter break. The hooded WE heads, used intinally were rejected after fan critisms of them looking too "elfish" so they have been removed and natural GS used to make hoods.

I do believe the only model i didnt change around was the blind shotgun sergeant. I just like the way he looked too much

Capitansolstice wrote:they look cool, especially the las pistol sgt.

thats kinda funny you say that. Overall he was suppose to be a marbo or a sgt depending upon how i modeled him and what i would decide upon later in my list. I wanted him to be a mkvenner or a mkoll stand in if no other models would "work"

However the cloak and the beret i hated so much that i scrapped the model. The arms are still the same but when i last left him, he was getting a make over with a flagalant warband head and a GS coak covering his body. Ran out of summer to work on that project.

the arm was done because i needed a left arm but only had right arms. i started by taking the catachan command spur arm that is pointing and cuting off the hand. I then flipped the arm over so instead of being a right arm it was a left arm and remodeled the las pistol arm on to there. To cover the very obvious glare in human anatomy i covered most of that arm with a cloak hoping it would cover the damage.

In the next few days i hope to break open the battleforce i have laying here and start on some new additions to my force i have with me. Its only 500 points + Inquistor count as for Lord commie but it's playable and i'll be able to model some more tanith using the maximini and CH bits.

Capitansolstice, I appericate the feed back and the being a part of the P&M blog, Its really kept me motivated!

Sounds good, cant wait to see the battleforce swampy
something that I have noticed that could improve your models, is the fragments of mold lines and vents that are present. If you clean them up the models will look tons more professional.
for greenstuff, maybe using this tut. will help: [url] http://www.heresy-online.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2542

Update for the Phantine Side of things:

Forgeworld Elysian models in the resin. Im planning on eventually running enough of these guys for a small task for of Phantine Skyborne Troopers. Orginally i wanted to replace the helemets to look like this:

and i could do it too by using the pilot heads from the valks, except for the fact that i would need to buy:

A. More Valks for my skyborne and the helemts.
B. Replace said helemts with cadian heads to give the pilots heads.
C. I would only get enough pilot heads for 1 squad at most or 2 if i used the gunners heads too.

So i emailed Dan Abnett and asked for how to get them right for a true Phantine Skyborne trooper. Its true, Mr. Abnett does repsond to his own mail and VERY fast. I got this with in 24 hours.

Hello

I think they look very much like WW2 aircrew crossed with paratroopers, with the jump-packs being "jet pack" type units about the size and shape (and appearance) of
an un-deployed parachute.

Any help?

Dan

This lead to rethink the whole modern design and start looking back into new ideas. I decided the Elysians would be the way to go in the end. Not only to distants themselfs from the tanith but to stand out on the table as one of my FAVORITE regiments in 40k. To finish off this update im still working on how to do the jump pack. while i would want my troopers to have them, im still undersure of how to model them. Ideas would be welcome as always

My personal Favorite and "Me" in 40k so to speak Lt. Jonus "SwampyTurtle" Remaus (sometimes misspelled Remanus). The Remaus Family is of Phantine. The brother Litilus is my Tech priest model and my character from Dark Heresy. Most of the family was killed during the conquest of Phantine by the Blood pact but currently only Jonus and Litilus are the known survivors of the family. Mother Ophilia and Father Byrus have both been found dead at the hands of the enemy. The misfortune and stories of the Remaus family are some i hope to tell both through fan fiction and my own battles. Litilus is unaware his brother is alive having only heard that a man from phantine named Jonus is working for a inquistor =I= as his personal retuine.....

Thanks! hopefully when I get a few more funds cleared up from bills and other parts of life (see: rent, food , ect) i'll have some left over to get another squad or two. My hope is to be able to run them next to the Tanith as a platoon / Vet teams one day. During the summer i ran them as vets. Got me a quick solid objective against a drop pod list that i could post up the battle report should anyone be interested.

These pictures are from July 2010 but are only meant to show the stuff i cant get to at the moment. Since these pictures have been taken, i bought enough models to bring it up to the full 2000+

All of it was for 40$$ When we put it together, it was 1500 points with min. upgrades. Very Nice start if i do say so myself

Most of the models are still in the conditions they were in when i took the pictures of them back when. A few squads have been bathed in simple green and the tanks have been cleaned up.

Im afriad i dont have much to comment on. So instead , i'll tantalize you with whats to come

i recently went for 3rd party products and chose this model to be my female commie; I torn on rather or not i'll replace the pistol with a GW bolt pistol and add a few GW bits so its enough to legally play in tournaments / RT / whatever. (excuse the promo pics, i just ordered my own yesterday so i dont have it yet )

On other fronts, my order to maximini seems to have been lost to the warp (Aka the US postal service, whom claim my address didnt exist , lazy ). Anyway to make a long story short, that mess was cleared up and the order has been sent out again (From Poland mind you!) so im hoping it'll get here sometime this week since i ordered back in September. Originally this was gonna be a 2 part post with the Chapter house models of the female heads i posted above. Once i got it all together i was gonna break it all open with the battleforce and get building in one big P&M mega update. Exams and papers have made that unlikely to happen now.

Instead its looking as if this christmas may roll around before i get to do the mega update and so only small pieces of what to come are being shown now. Im hoping as the models come in and the bitz i'll have more for you all.

Also: Shameless Self promotion here; If you all could check out my Tau P&M, my FLGS is starting a campagin next semester and its looking as if my cadre is gonna help spread the greater good. Any feedback would be appericated

Part 2 Of my post orders finally comes today

So i got alittle present in the mail today All the way from maximini in poland came a few last things to be added before i break open my battleforce!

The order consisted of:

5x Feral heads that i thought would go excellent on tanith
10x Beret heads for my Tanith scouts
5x "Iron Pattern" Jump packs

Thats where i ran into a problem. the jump packs were way too large for my phantine. They look monsterious on guard in general and wouldnt work at all. Im probably gonna try to recoup my losses by selling / trading for jump packs that would work better (or cadian snipers )

The Jump packs Im gonna sell (if you want them PM me and we'll talk)

These images are after they have been cleaned up and washed. The models are very well done and the detail is bar none

Top it off: The battleforce (Lets do this )

So i got the final piece of the puzzle today in the mail From Warforge i bought this : Disciplinary Officer Viktoria Skivlana to use as my female commisar attached to my phantine / Tanith. As soon as i got the package i couldnt help but open it and get it assembled. I still need to clean her up and wash her off to clean the resin but i wanted to get these pics for size and any one else thinking of getting one

Truth be told, she is one fragile i nearly broke her a dozen times just cleaning her off and getting the leg assembled to the body. handle with EXTERME care. However the scuplt is bar none the best female ive seen and the detail is beautiful! I would highly recommand!

Top Down shot

Nice update man.

I ordered the same model a few weeks ago when it became re-stocked, she's a pretty good scultp for a Commisar. I also got the Raging Heroes chick for my Company Commander.

I totally feel you on the school stuff, that's going to start hitting me hard to.

RE: Your idea in my thread about a unit of Tanith.

What do you think of doing a figure swap in the future when we're both working more on our armies. I could make you a hostile environment dude with the elysian equipment that my dudes use and you could do up one of your guys and we could both paint them and swap. Sort of like a couple of officers serving in a different regiment to gain some experience, seconded if you will. ^.^

They would make good bodyguard models or even sergeants, we could figure something out, maybe give some ties to our respective units in our lore!

Let me know what you think of this.

Im down for it, I'd need access to my paints (which i'd have to grab over winter break) but overall yeah im certainly down for sending you a Tanith advisor. I like the idea of using them as bodyguards / gaining new tatics with another regiment. Maybe write some fluff to for them on their battles and such with the regiment their seconded too. i'd like to keep this idea rolling and get the details done eventually.

I just finished washing her and cleaning her off actually. You never know with resin so i just decided before i pant her i'd give her a wash. No harm, No foul right?

Wow, those two go together about as well as oil and water. You have a realistic looking bad-ass and then a silly pin-up model who dressed up as a "soldier" for a photo shoot. I don't mind silly totally unrealistic looking armies, but the mix of real and unreal is just a bad idea imho.

You know, i agree with you but the model itself is just for fun. Yes she doesnt fit in with the theme and i understand that. Still i found her to be the most commissar looking character without being too OTT

She'll probably only see action if im running the Phantine in kill team or something like that , or my =I= guard list i have with me here at college (away from most of my tanith at the moment).

I ask that you dont let take my taste into account here. Sure, the model isnt keeping with the fluff but ive worked hard to keep this as close to fluff as possible.

DC assassin Dorian and The female model side by side was only for scale reference and anyone else interested in the size. You dont have to paint her as a "Silly pin-up" and actually some paint jobs ive seen have had her very stricking as a female commissarit.

Man, this whole game is all about fun, so do whatever is fun for you. For me, while I think she looks cool, it would bug me putting her next to my badass tanith looking guys (who I am using as DCAs, which means i guess she'd have to be an Inquisitor in my GK army for there even to be a chance of her being included). But that's my issue. you are right though, the right paint job would make her fit a bit better.

She's one of the best commissar models available.

40k is about over the top and often silly things in a grim setting.

I don't know why anyone would have an issue with it, aside from just wanting to nitpick.

FIrst "squad" done and a few characters created.

This is the start to the battleforces minis. I went back to the previously posted minis and redid their cloaks cause i wasnt happy (damn my OCD when it comes to wanting to make these tanith models "prefect", [in your opioion is it possible to get the look "prefect" or is prefect only what we strive for? discuss! lol ] ) Im still not happy with the cloaks and im running out of GS from trying to get them "prefect" so im being conservative now.

First up Platoons Serg. Tona Criid

next up are the other two that have had there cloaks redone:

as well as two new additions:

Yes im not happy with him nor the other new female. I cant explain it but im not

Also, the Female commissar update with her GW approved Bolt pistol:

This is a shameless steal from Ultimate 40k's idea for his own Female Commissar seen here:

Criid turned out really well, i agree.

What about the cloaks seems off to you? I mean yes they werent the best. I even agree i probably could have done more on them. They are actually very thin and not that thick. I do agree about the unnatural comment though. theres even a few finger prints i should have worked to get out. Im gonna get back to them after the holidays. I appericate your feedback Capitansolstice. it helps keeps the work i do up to par.

I think what I would do would to get a sculpting tool, or piece of wire, and wet the GS
make it nice and thin and drape it over the shoulders, pulling the corners to the front of the neck
then I would think about where the natural stress points were and crease it there, and give it more wrinkles. Then add a hood and sleeves ect.
The only reason that it looks a bit off is that it isnt wrinkled in the right spots (I think)
I shouldn't be talking because I cant sculpt gs at all!

I bought the maxmini commando heads also. They are WAY out of scale for Cadian bodies. I think you have the right idea to elevate the head a little bit. I tried to do that but it still looks off. If you want an additional full box of commando heads let me know and I will sell them to you VERY cheap.

I got some sculpting tools as well as wetting the GS. IVe been working on trying to get the natural creases and the wrinkles right. Hoods and sleeves are another issue
I never though about gravity and the movement they've moving and how that would effect the cloak. Good idea

he's probably one of my favorites, his cloak isnt the best but he does have a good "tanith" look to him. Not sure if i'll keep his cloak yet.

Your right, the scale of the heads does feel off. What i did was i bulked the cloaks around the head and made it look as if the cloak was covering alot of the scale to make the head seem more in tune with the model and the body. The heads are a pain in the though. im thinking these berets will be my scouts / vets. Not sure if i'd buy them again.

So this thanksgiving day weekend, after the turkey had been eatten and the family had all left, i set about gathering supplies to start on a new mini project. Deciding that a tool case wouldnt do for my tanith i searched the internet for a cheaper case and came back to dakka only to find this thread that i had seen over the summer but never bookmarked:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/362407.page

In it, it described how to build a 19$ Plano Carrying case capable of carrying "about 180 standard size figures in it's 3 levels. "

I got mine to hold 180 but wanting to proceed carefully i only cut out 83 holes before i took the pictures. Due to not having my 40k models on me i was unsure of the size and if the models would fit in them. I was skeptical if it would work but see for yourself. It fits and it fits prefectly. Next time im at wal mart im getting another 2 or 3

I wanted my tanith to have a protective case because there my favorite army and i want to keep my hard work safe. The Tanith (as well as the Padrus and Phantine) are my special project right now. For the Tau, Ive decided that until im done with the tanith they can keep their tool box

The work station

The trays Before:

The trays after:

Final pictures:

Final Thoughts

Right, so my final thoughts on the matter.

1) The method of making the holes by the copper tubing and twisting till it popped out doesnt work well and takes HOURS! My grandpa (a engineer for 20+ years) suggested a new method. So what you do is Take the copper tubes and place them where you want the hole to go. Turn the foam upside down and take a hammer to the area around where the copper tube is. The foam will come out in a natural circle each time with very little effort. It literally took me a hour using the method in the post above and 30 mins for my second tray using my grandpa's method.

2) dispite the look of the holes seeming too small for your standard models , THEY DO INDEED FIT! It might not look that way but it is. Its a beautiful sight really

3) Following the tutorial provides does a great deal of justice to making the case but alot of it is trial and error. It took me 2 hours to make my first one. I believe i could crank another out in an hour for my next one. The work does get repetivie so have some music, TV, ect going on to distract you.

4) Its a very easy project and i highly recommand it to anyone looking for a good case for your models that you want to protect

More news on the Phantine Skyborne skide of things

Thanks to a trade between Thecupcakecowboy and I , i now got some more Elysians -> Phantine troopers to play around with. He was really easy to work with and even sent me a few extras bits to build an additional 5 troopers! Im very greatful to him for that. I would highly recommand trading with him if you ever get the chance.

The Unvieling of the new models:

The Parts that will become the newly commissioned Lt. Cupcake

Fluff incoming!

Spoiler:
Orginally part of the Phantine 44th Skyborne under the command of Senoir Lt. Jonus Remanus's Scald Squad, Lt Cupcake has served the skyborne with distinguished service since the liberation of his homeworld by the Sabbat World crusade. Orginally choosen to take part in "Operation Larisel" he was instead replaced due to his experience at the time which upon complant a commander is noted as calling him "a cupcake solider". Since then, his experence and combat skills in Scald Squad have earned him a command of his own with "Holm" Squad. He hopes to escape the Cupcake nickname and make a name for himself as commander and leader of Soliders within the skyborne and earn the respect of his peers. Currently with Lt. Remaus's Squad on Deployment to the Distilleri system , Lt. Cupcake and his squad have been given more challenging missions to complete and earned a reputation for bravery and honor in combat.

At Home in there new case:

So This post is my many many thanks to the following peoples: wonkobaggins , North101 , InquisitorMack

Thanks to these dakka members i was able to complete my custom Storm trooper squad. The models are cadians with valk pilots heads. Im torn between using them as Phantine Skyborne vets (already covered by Elysian FW models) or just =I= Stormies support. Its still a toss up but in the end i might just use them as Phantine Skyborne too :p

As for the other models. once i get back and with fresh supplies of glue and GS i hope to finish up my battleforce and get it on the table ready to go! Keep checking back, alot of updates are gonna be incoming

Sigh,

This morning i woke up to a disaster. On my living room near my modeling table lay all my supplies, broken models, and to top it off a broken and heavy picture frame that my grandmother had given me. Ive spent most of the evening cleaning it up and the downstairs is looking better.

However, there were battle scars. The GW box that held my battleforce took a direct hit from the falling picture frame (AP1 hit ) and pretty much went straight through the box. So far i think ive recovered alot of the pieces to the battle force but the spures are pretty broken so im hoping im not missing anything. The pictures dont show it well but the cut is direct and is two seperate pieces now. I just balanced it enough to get it looking like it use to.

This semester has been really tough and my time to model for 40k has gotten none existant. Im hoping to get some more work done eventually but im not sure that'll be. Till then, post and say hello, whats new in your world and keep checking back. Hopefully i'll get a update in soon.

It wasnt fun to clean up, or come downstairs in the morning to find it all laying there everywhere.

I suspect gravity was the key culprit in this instance but im not 100% sure. It had been there only 48 hours

I think your missing a pronoun there Disjointed Entity but im sorry; anything that decides to be friends with a hobby knife isnt gonna end well

I knew the cockpit looked different from the standard model, but the airframe is unmistakably a 52.
The B-52's longevity never ceases to amaze me. The only original parts on planes still in service is the airframe itself, everything else has been replaced and upgraded. Most planes are older than the flight crews that fly them. It may not happen often, but every once and a while someone designs an aircraft that's so close to perfect it's damn hard to replace.
The air force and army might not be flying them anymore, but there are still tons of UH-1 Hueys in service out there. I love the sound of those big fat rotor blades...

@ Nowlan:

The B-52 is one of my all time favorite aircraft, ranking right up there with the Mc Donald Dogulas F-4 Phantom and A-6 Intruder. Vietname era aircraft are my forte but i can do WWII - > to Modern fairly well and be right 95% of the time. In my room alone i got 4 differnt pictures of aircraft and helicopters. My friend wants to give me his demovtivational poster with a M1A1 tank on it but i still havent gone to pick it up

What i have planned for later on:

(Gaint Disclaimer: I am no way shape or form a anime person but i felt the design is what counted not the show [How-ever good it is ] in itself)

I was watching the show the other night and i noticed how the cloak and the design was very spot on for a Tanith sniper. Taking note of the picture, i noticed how the cloak seems to sit naturally on her body which i could add to my own GS work (as noted by Capitansolstice ) when i get back to it. For those in the know, the show is Full Metal Alchimist. Since i do have a few more female heads left, im gonna try my best to make a Lt. Hawkeye as close to the picture as I can. For this project im hoping to get as close as possible to the picture, minus sleeves, no matter which way i look at it shes probably gonna have sleeves. Anyway I think this is what i need to get me back into modeling, something small that i can take at stages and not look at the whole box of models waiting to be assembled here at my desk

We'll see how it turns out.

So dakka i return and have nothing to show for it I swear i will get back to the female sniper one day

but i come with a question for the community:

Since im off at uni, and a good portion of my 2000+ IG is back home, ive been working within my constrants and playing (When i get the chance) 750 point games. My list looks roughly like this:

1 LC (Counts as Inquistor)
1 CCS
Marbo (Death cult assassin counts as)
1 Platoon of 20 with Heavy weapons x1 +2 Commies (1 commie, 1 counts as "Inquistor")
1 Vet squad
Scout Sentinal with lascannon

Its a Theme'd list and Ive been using my characters that can be found all over this forum. What i do is 1 of 2 things when i have the points.

I ethier call the Inquistor as a counts as Company commander and the 4 other members are his / her henchman or just run him / her alone and count as as LC. Lately, with the release of the space wolves Cyberwolf ive been looking at it and seeing a chance for a unit ive never used before :the bodyguard for the CCS.

The old RT Gyrinx models are really cool for familiars but the ability to find them is not something i want to take the time to do and track one down. Instead, looking at the new space wolves wolfs, i see potenetial to use the cyberwolf as a familiar for my Inquistor leading her / his Detachment of IG troopers.

I had two inquistors im using at the moment, Adrasita from DOW:II retribution (own conversion) and a DH character my group came up with: Inquistor Umarus. Im not sure which one will be getting the Familiar but i think i could make ether of them work within the fluff.

Fluff wise, i'd like to have it be a cyber wolf that was gentically modified to be less aggressive and have a loyality complex towards its master (my inquistor be it Umarus or Adrasita). To represent the BS of the bodyguard i was thinking something along the lines of Yarrack with a eye that shots las / vile. The reduced weapon skill would be covered by the loyality to protect its master (Not a attack wolf) and the other modfications to its stats lines could be gentitic tampering with the wolves DNA.

Ive talked with some friends about it. Some say they think its a cool idea, others disapprove stating it wouldnt fit. I'd like to see what the community thinks about it.

Hey SwampyTurtle, nice box and army, sorry about the airstrike.

As a big fan of the 'Ghosts, I gotta ask you to add an augmetic jaw to Merrt. Even just painting the lower part of his face in a metallic would do it. Cool idea for the Phantine, I'll keep checking in to see what you do with the Verghastites

The jaw honestly is probably one of those slip ups that i just missed when i was painting him. When i have time again, i'll go back over and redo him with the jaw looking more metalic.

Thank you on the compliment for the Phantine

For the Verghastites im not sure excatly what i'll do but i do have a few ideas. we'll have to see

Now for a true update

This was from 2011

Over the course of two days, my buddy KatoSniper and I have rebuilt my Inq Urmarus into his new look and with Kato's skills painted him up into his new look. We were unable to get any washes on him due to time constrants but we hope that he'll be washed ASAP. Im VERY impressed by the work Kato did and highly recommand his air cav guard to any one looking for more IG goodness

Hey Dakka,

Im now back from Spring break so i thought i'd showed you all some screens from my work over break while i was home.

First up is my Inquistor seen above. This hopefully will be a better screen shot of him then the prevous one.

Second up is Adrastia from DOW II. Im more pleased with this base model but it doesnt feel right yet. Still looking but getting closer. The sword broke off in the drive

Third off the squad of redone tanith. Having been soaked in simple green i didnt have much time to do much besides re cloak them. While home i noticed the difference between my cloaks done here at uni and the cloaks at home. Upon further inspection i believe it has to do with the water tables and how the water is there. I did it first in plan simple water from the tap and got bad results. then i tried it from filters water and got better (seen above ) results. compared to the results i get here however, it appears that not all water (or green stuff) is created equal. That means before i leave uni here i need to get my battleforce box cloaked and done to avoid those results. we shall see what happens.

Heya mate.

You have some nice models and some very nice ideas.

I would like to see you paint some stuff soon.

I have some advise on the greenstuff area, because it can be quite a bitch.

Here are the tools I use:

First off you of course need your greenstuff, next you should have some water.
I have found that it is ideal to have a vet foam part. The ones you receive with the metal miniatures are ideal.
There shouldn't be more water in the container than the foam holds.

Next up is a good hobby knife, and some metal modelling tools.

Now this is what you want. These silicon tipped tools are called colour/clay shapers and are so good.
They come in five different shapes and from size zero and up.
They will help to make the cloaks smoother and give you greater control.

Good luck, and keep practising.

@ kato sniper: Thanks man, I hope so too. I dont think im ever gonna be happy with Adrastia. Gonna keep at it though!

@ Gerner: Thanks mate! I intend to get paint and stuff at a later date. I found that if i take it one step at a time i get more work done than if i only do a few minis at a time. The Green stuff has been the trickest part because i dont have alot of money right now so im using what i can. I know i need to get some clay shapers but the prices keep putting me off, Maybe one day.

@dicewar: Thank you! P.S. What commander? The female commissar or Adrastia?

@ two spartan: GS is tricky and im not even that good at it yet. I keep hoping one day i'll be better but school and work say otherwise

Heres some shots to show this project isnt dead. Ive taken alot of time off from posting updates so i could make one major update instead of many spammy small updates. The first picture is the squads now all done with some sprue basing that i intend to prime and make into urban rubble (my tanith are around the time of "The Saint" on Heredor) so the city fighting look fits. rocks and dirt will be added in later for the urban look as well as broken chainswords, shovels, bits and ect. I really wanted a Stalingrad feel to the bases that they're crawling over a broken landscape making their way stealthly towards the enemy. I havent had a chance to GS anything yet but i hope i'll get to soon

Image 2 is my small squad of Phantine skyborne soliders (from "Guns of Tanith") that have joined up as vets or Stormies depending on the list to assist the Tanith. This squad is a melta squad and will find a home amongst my other Phantine models (FW elyisans)

Image 3 is my converted Phantine pattern drop sentinal. I used FW's Drop sentinal as a inspiration and tried to follow it as closly as i could with the bits i had. Alot of time and effort went into the magnets and all weapons + bits can be added or removed at will. The boosters on the back are larger than the FW model but IMHO add alittle more feel to the model (A heavy metal walker falling from the sky is gonna need big boosters) not the small ones FW uses

Since then, ive gotten some primer and finished all my squads. This part of my project (the battleforce) is coming to a close but theres still alot of work to be done. Stay Tuned, Leave feedback and say hello

Today is 4.27.12, a Year ago today a gaint F4 tornado came through my town here at Uni and killed 44 people (most of them students). I'd like it if people could take a moment to remember the lifes lost. If you want to help , i'd like people to use the Below picture on their P&M or avatar just for today to help remember. the feelings here are weird. While no one i knew was lost, many of my friends lost good friends and the town still hasnt recovered.

For myself, the tornado was coming straight for my apartment when by the grace of God, it turn and started heading N-NE of my apartment. Literally at the last moment.

Also, Im gonna be changing the name of my P&M to the name "Ghost Maker: A Tanith 1st and only blog with allies" but i still do like Ghost Division. Opioions are welcome

It's fun to watch the progress from first attempts at GS to getting a handle on it. (probably why people like looking at my thread, I mean my first attmeps were laughable!

I like your cloaks! They are not easy.

I do have to say, if you made the breasts on your Adrastia a bit smaller, it might look better. And the hat is a bit off center, but it looks good!

Major Update!

Having gotten back to Uni and found some packages i got to work before summer semester started up. Heres what ive gotten done.

First i bought a few of theses (20$ for 50 off E-bay) :

They even came with a free bag of flock!

Then i got some work done on my Tanith and Verghast soliders:

Also for Inq Adrastia i got her a pet (counts as body guard for a IG company command squad)

But that was before i left. Lets see the new Supply drop

First we got the package supplied to me by RSJake
He sent me a Nuke-a-cola bottle and a small sprue of steampunk weapons. Still working on getting the steampunk weapons off the sprue but the cola bottle has found a home with my Female Commissar Amberly Rhodes attached to the Tanith 1st and only:

Second on my supply drop was some Forgeworld grav chutes found again on ebay:

These were added onto my Vets squad for my Phantine Troopers. Seen here is Lt. Jonus Remaus (having since been promoted) with his new grave chute:

Then the Rest of the Tanith army section and the Inq Detachment D-44 assigned to Inq Adrastia and Inq Urmarus working on unknown assignments in the segmentum Pacficus

Thanks for Checking in

@RS Jake

Thank you, I thought long about where i wanted the bottle to go and i think i chose correctly

@CptnSoliace

Took me a while to work through all the resin but it was worth it!

Got some work done on the tanith a week or so ago. Just havent had time to post pics up to the P&M. I found a new way to do my GS that will allow for less finger prints from now on as well as thinner look to them. Tell me if you all think the cloaks look better with this new method. Once people give me their opioions i'll start my way through filing 100+ models and adding the cloaks

Sergeant Ceglan "Ceg" Varl.

Random Tanith

Now, A project ive had on the board for a while. Last Semester i said i wanted to make a female Verghast sniper using the Anime full metal alchamist as a reference for the shot seen here:

Using that shot as best i could i started in on the model and before too long have come up with something close to the angle of what i was wanting to achieve. Tell me what you think?

Feedback and suggestions would be welcome as always

Hey IDZ,

Thanks bro. Lt. Remaus is one of my favorite characthers there is and i am hoping to get his squad painted up to beyond table top standards some day.

I will but schools been busy.

On the 40k side of things ive stopped for 2 reasons:

1) school is hard as hell when your doing 16 weeks worth of class in 4 weeks
2) 6th ed is right around the corner and i dont want to see too many changes in my army FOC right before a new edition. I am excited that by the time i head home to my LFGS at home 6th ed will be out and i'll be able to try it out with my buddies. (Schools NOT FLGS is kinda meh)

today i leave you with this picture i mocked up of my "powered bayonet" lasgunner tanith holding his ground against a tau fire warrior in a mexican standoff:

(both are holding grenades with the tanith grenade being RsJake steam punk clips cut down as grenades. Captions welcome, and i'd like to see what people add for their own captions.

Hey Jake and IDZ, Thanks for entering the caption contest. I got a few good chuckles out of those

Today was my first game of 6th ed against Kato Sniper. We were playing Kill team with 2 vets and WYSIWYG rules. Having seen 6th ed rules in use i can tell im gonna like this edition alot. Im already ready to play another game

Our table looked like this:

Turn 1:

Kato moves his squad up onto the box and moves his snipers out to cover the alley.

The Sarge in his squad bellows out a challenge to one of my models with the scout special rule and charges into CQB. Round 1 sees them fail to do any damage to each other. The other squad moves up and shoots but misses

Turn 1 (me)

My squad on the right moves up and assaults the sarge in combat knocking her out and gets their ally out of combat. The Tanith on the right move to right gently and open fire into the squad across from them killing the 3 flamers.

Turn 2

Grenades. His troopers move onto the top of the building and start throwing grenades onto my squad on the right. 7 models die as they are taken out by sharpnel and then assault by the remaining members of the squad that had rushed to add their comrade. During this time. Kato stills the center objective. The snipers fire but fail to kill anyone

Turn 2 (me)

The tanith move to the right again and postion themselves to assist their allies. Firing at the squad now holding the objective but failing to do any damage they decided to keep moving and firing. meanwhile the other squad is assaulted by Kato. 1 guy dies out right and the remaining 2 stay locked into combat.

Turn 3

Kato shoots into my Tanith squad killing 3 guys and gals. the assaults and grenades he throws kill 2 more tanith and a final demo charge kills my squad down to the last 5 guys. On the right flank, he breaks the morale of one of my models and we tie combat with the other combat. the two remaining survivors go towards my tanith as my model flees 9' off the table.

Turn 3 (me)

My tanith shoot into his 2 survivors killing them off and then the remaining 3 shots go into the gun squad holding the objective. My other squads lone survivor holds off and defeats his assassliant. He consolidates 1'

Turn 4

Kato moves his guns into place and shotguns my squad to death killing all my remaining tanith except Major Rawne. The other squads lone survivor is killed off by sniper fire as he crosses the board.

Turn 4 (me)

Rawne makes a dash into CQB against the squad and dies a glorious death taking no one with him.....

Game goes to Kato

VP:

Kato 5
Me 2

Table at the end:

Now for the leaders and heros of Detachment D-44:

Senior Lt Jonus Remaus:

Fluff wrote:Tech Priest Litilus Remaus contuines in his chanting, He feels himself drifting off among the stars. Somewhere there is a cult preaching the salvation of the emperor. On another world there is a a young boy reaching out to his father as he is cut down by blood pact troopers. On another world, brave defenders of the imperial guard stand and fight against the horrors of the galaxy. Their faces are covered in dirt but the look is the same, defiance, determination, resolve. Again another world and among them men...in black and Khaki uniforms....suddenly litlus was interested, his brothers unit of the Phantine skyborne had worn black and Khaki uniforms! Litilus gasped to himself, could this be the world where they were now? Could this be the only family he had left alive here in this emperor granted vision, he tried to save himself to the spot, to figre out where he was, to root his mind here among his brother and the men they were fighting. Yet it was not to be, suddenly Litilus felt himself falling and then came out of the trance onboard the crusier once again losing his brother to the galaxy

Lt. "Cupcake" or "Cowboy" (should he earn it)

Inq Umarus:

fluff wrote:Litilus began walking towards the stern of the ship where the engines were housed. Litilus passed by the inquisitor’s room as it slid open, the Inquisitor standing there. “Hello Tech-Priest,” the inquisitor greeted “I’d like to talk to you for a moment” he said gesturing for him to enter his room. The inquisitors room was magnificent in comparison to the barracks Litilus would be sharing with the other men. Inquisitor Umarus sat in a chair behind his desk and gestured for Litilus to sit opposite, him doing so. “I’m sorry about Phantine. The Blood Pact wasn’t my concern, but now I will do what I can to protect Phantine and the rest of the sector from further attacks.” Umarus paused “Kind of a lucky, I was only on planet to recruit you, and I was there because your brother recommended you.” Litilus stared at Umarus shocked at what he had just said the inquisitor obviously aware of this, “Your brothers fine, his squad has served under me many times, still does on occasion, I saw him a couple months ago when he suggested you for my retinue. He’s still serving with the skybourne when needed”

More shots of "scald squad"

Thanks Urbanevil!!!

Hey everyone, im unsure if i should keep up with this P&M since it seems like very few people read it. Should i start a new one or would you all like to see me continue here?

Hey everyone

I found my tanith were able to go by fairly quickly when i painted them because i enjoyed the army and the lore behind them.

My Tau are taking forever because the scheme is simple but for some reason im not feeling it. Im not sure why but thats how im feeling. Its like a drag to do it.

My menoth have me interested but again the scheme is a drag to do. Plus i needed more colors. It seems like the only interest i had was in doing my IG so im stripping my valks (again again) and going to repaint them to a scheme i like better. I'll finish the Tau and Menoth someday.

Any help or inspiration ?
