Yeah, I can't Imagine many kids getting a chance to play with them.
Well JoyToy products are all marketed as "suitable for ages 17 and up", so if anything, they're collectible items. It's just that GW's models when turned into action figures, turn out kind of cartoonish.

Well, we don't know for sure, because they're not an official reveal, but one can assume they're going to be scaled to the rest of their Warhammer line.

I've been following their other stuff on Ali, but somehow I missed the fact that they have a 1:18 line. Just googled it and WOW!

A fair warning, i personally didn't have the greatest experience with JoyToy figures - some joints are really loose, and some things snap really easily as you try to pose them.

Yeah. Nothing you can't fix. But you need time, the tools and to know how to do it.

Which might be a bit too much of a hassle for someone importing expensive action figures from overseas, especially if they're not crazy into those.
I have a few of the Primaris Marines and they are pretty freakin cool and really aren't that expensive for what you get. 30-40USD for a GW little plastic statue or 40-70USD for a 1/18th scale figure. I dont do much table top games anymore but like the figures so these are a great thing to me. That being said Im not a fan of the tanks so much but if priced right id consider getting one. Remember the invictor war suit is around 150/200USD so I see a price range for the tanks to be 4-600 range and yeah thats a little out of my comfort zone.

That tracks. Definitely a wow appearance wise but not something I'm be investing in. I bought a squad of their 1:25 trooper action figures on super sale. Neat to find some figures in roughly the same scale as Exo Squad, but they are brittle and one of the necks was broken.
The "land of the lost" pack of cheap unpainted pirated 28mm mecha was cool though. Might have bought a few of those....
Quote - you know the writers are running out of ideas, when they shrink down the characters
These are from big bad toy store. The ones from joytoy world have yet to arive and they already took my money. Only problem with these figures is that the extra hand's wrist holes are too small and I needed the enlarge them to fit the wrist sockets.
Otherwise, nice designs, though I think it would take non-primaris to tempt me.
Yeah it's probably my biggest peeve around 40k cosplay and larger scale models - they assume the weapons on the minis are 1:1 and just upscale, creating these ridiculous looking toy props rather than real weapons.

I'm using the Acid Rain figures for Guardsmen. They're beautiful, and will look better when done, but they are definitely not robust enough for even light play. Even the Marines have issues. The base figure for the WIP below is the Death Company Sergeant. His left leg is loose at the upper to lower thigh joint and falls off, right out of the box. The Guardsman is the Steiner figure, just the helmet and weapons replaced.

Yeah, they do look damn good, but man are they bad at being action figures. The first - and last - thing I bought for them, a mecha figure, had it's finger and arm joints so lose it was pretty much impossible for it to hold anything, making most poses just look like it's A-posing Team Fortress 2-style from above the waist. So I just ended up reselling it within like, a week, and never buying from JoyToy again.
I have seen Orktimus Prime, and the Baneblade Transformer. But never the Attackbike/Dread. Searching on Google didn't turn up anything either. If you ever see it again I'd love a picture. Always interested in good conversions.

Not to knock things off topic but IIRC it was Dakka poster Barpharanges back in the days of EZ Board. I did a check of google and even my own hard drive hoard and can't find it. It's possible I'm misremembering who did it.

I would note that line makes GW's normal prices look reasonable however.
New toolings, licensing fees, and 2(soon to be 3) entirely new molds(neither of which have had reuses to spread the costs) for small runs aren't cheap. And they still not as expensive the Collector's Club new tooled exclusives.
I continue to be both baffled and amused at the lack of extras the Chaos bois get vs the Marines. Mostly amused because of how well it mirrors the situation in the actual game.
Is this this first lieutenant figure? And one that doesn't directly match a model either, as he's wearing plain tactics armor while carrying a storm shield and power sword.
warboss wrote: Nicely done. I like that the chaos ones are really faithful to the 40k box. Is that true for all the squads?
Yeah pretty much, only one of the newest Imperial Fist relases seems to not be directly based on a tabletop mini. For example - the guy with the pistol and fist is very obviously based on this particular Imperial Fist.
The Chaos lads look a bit plain painting-wise. I think they needed a third strong color apart from black and gold/beige. There's some red accents, but they aren't enough to break the greyscale + sepia tones overall impression to the eye.
There's... there's a Venerable Angry Washing Machine coming.
Now they have my attention...

When you get the box you'll find that there will be places moulded into the packaging where various options would have gone, had they not been taken away prior to release.

Cool. I'm ok with that. I'm glad the over the shoulder heavy weapon is getting a bit of love with the chaos side. I think they should be distinguishable from the loyalists more in the older classic style of gear that they use. Admittedly, the primaris have mostly fixed that potential issue though...

What's the normal loadout loyalists get and what do the chaos ones get? I assume they're charging a premium for these things so getting stingy on a few one piece, one or two color added bits would be silly.
Note how the Imperial includes helmeted and unhelmeted head options, weapon options, plus stuff like little tech things. Only Chaos Terminators come with the head options so far.
I received my GW order for the first eight figures, and I am sold. These are amazing! I wish GW would offer the whole range, but I went ahead and ordered additional figures from a third party.
It took 6+ months to get here from the day I ordered. I had two locked joints, both upper arm swivels. A little force made them rotate just fine. The figures themselves are not nearly as stiff as the McFarlane ones, which makes me far less worried of breaking them. The paint work is very good. I had one holster that received a splotch of metal where it shouldn't be, but you get multiples of those (with and without guns) so no biggie. I noticed that the Phobos armor right shoulder guard looked off in a lot of pictures online, it was sitting too far away from the body, creating some unsightly gaps. I was glad to discover that it's not an issue. The shoulder is on a joint that allows it to be posed just right in any position of the right arm, you just have to push it in.
These figures were NOT blind pack, like in other regions. The individual boxes clearly indicate which figure is in them. There were no cards included (in other regions each fig had a card about the character, in Chinese, I believe).
This is going to be one expensive hobby, at the rate these come out, even if I am only interested in the Ultramarines for now (when Orks or Necrons come I will probably give in)
Platuan4th wrote: These figures were never blind packed with cards. You're thinking of Space Marine Heroes, which were actual 40K models not action figures.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-atS82ZRx0 Here's an unboxing where you can see the blue silhouette with giant "?" on the blind boxes (0:13), and the cards on top of the plastic inserts when they open the boxes (0:19). The Games Workshop boxes do NOT have the question marks in the silhouettes, but, instead, a picture of the actual figure in the box.
I think it was only the original 8 figures that were packaged in blind boxes like this, and. while the individual boxes don't show what's in them, you do get one of each in the 4-pack, so it's not all that blind in the end...
Yeah, they were definitely sold as 2 complete 4 packs even outside of the GW sales(HLJ and the like). The only individuals I'd seen up were sellers breaking apart sets post them being out.

Was that an early review edition?
If so, would it not make sense to have a generic box rather than the finished example to sent out to the key reviewer partners early?

From what I understand, they're available in single figure blind boxes in China.

That was my understanding as well. Either you buy a box of 4 and know you get all of them, or you buy a single one and you're left guessing. I don't think the model was continued though, and newer releases seem to be packaged in marked boxes, so you know exactly what you're getting, even if you buy just a single.

Am I missing a picture? Where are you seeing an unmasked engineer?
The Demolition Specialist, with the detonater and extra armour has a Grenadier-style gasmask on tabletop. The action figure got all the details right, except the skull-like gasmask. I wonder if it's because the manufacturer is Chinese, and they've got something against skeletons?
If they do Dark Angels, I might not be able to resist (especially if I can get the walker in DA too). Same if Tau or Tyranids start being done. Overall, these are really nice looking.
Spotted a crapton of preorders going up around here, including the Krieg models. Estimated release date is.. 25th October - 8th of November, at €56,99 a model..!
This seems to be the first Grey Knight piece we've seen.
Didn't remember them being involved in the Badab Wars, but not surprising. Not as up on my knowledge of parties involved in specific conflicts.
Also interesting to see the Beastsnagga Squid comes with a special stand to keep it upright.
Also might be worth shopping around if you guys aren't liking the crazy prices. I've ordered from ShowZ and their sister site on multiple occasions and they have the Krieg for $35 US with shipping.
They do a really nice job packing and shipping model kits and figures.
Plus it looks like my Bladeguard Veteran is arriving any moment now!

It has Badab on there because the actual piece on the Ven Dread model does. JoyToy basically uses existing assets exactly as they are regardless of if it makes fluff sense or not.
I don't think Ultramarines were there either, but with what happened to Huron afterwards, and the support he had from the PDF (and some Admin elements), you can be pretty sure the Grey Knights got involved later.
Fugazi wrote: Does anyone have any insight into whether Joytoy is going to do Firstborn style marines?
The riders on the Space Wolf cavalry are firstborn because that's what's on the official kit. The whole JT line is very much 'scale up the official miniatures exactly' with the exception of the endless Ultramarines lieutenants and captains. It's all the current 'standard' look for the factions so I'm pretty doubtful we'll get other firstborn Marine releases.

I fear you're right.
"endless Ultramarines lieutenants and captains" ...I mean, that's pretty on brand for Ultras
I was going to say something about the lack of epic muttonchops but then I looked at the hair.

Something of the David Byrne about him?
Spoiler:
(Verse 1)
And you may find yourself in the Emperor's grace,
With golden walls and a steadfast embrace.
And you may ask yourself, how did I get here?
In the crimson sun, with a purpose so clear.
(Chorus)
Letting the fortress stand, Rogal Dorn's command,
In the heart of Terra, the Imperial Fist's land.
And you may ask yourself, is this my Legion's fate?
Defending the Imperium, never to abate.
(Verse 2)
And you may find yourself in the heat of the fight,
Bolter shells flying, through the long, endless night.
And you may ask yourself, can we hold the line?
With courage unyielding, in the Emperor's design.
(Chorus)
Letting the fortress stand, Rogal Dorn's command,
In the heart of Terra, the Imperial Fist's land.
And you may ask yourself, is this my Legion's fate?
Defending the Imperium, never to abate.
(Bridge)
And you may find yourself, with honor so high,
A beacon of hope beneath the starry sky.
And you may ask yourself, what have I achieved?
For the glory of mankind, we'll never be deceived.
(Verse 3)
And you may find yourself in the annals of lore,
A legend of courage forever to endure.
And you may ask yourself, what legacy will remain?
The indomitable spirit, in the Emperor's name.
(Chorus)
Letting the fortress stand, Rogal Dorn's command,
In the heart of Terra, the Imperial Fist's land.
And you may ask yourself, is this my Legion's fate?
Defending the Imperium, never to abate.
(Outro)
And you may find yourself in the Emperor's light,
With conviction unswerving, in the eternal fight.
And you may ask yourself, what more can be done?
For the Imperium's glory, we'll stand as one.

Looking forward to adding Dorn to my collection. Glad they're keeping with the direct translation of the models and not adding (insert popular non-canon meme here) where it doesn't belong.

As Brook stated, it's not the content, it's that you were uploading it to Dakka while The Power Cosmic used the Image tags to use an offsite picture.
That toy looks remarkably 28mm proportioned. I'm not the target market for it but, if I were, I'd have preferred a more realistically proportioned toy style like they seemed to be going with previously. Maybe I need to take a closer look again at the Cadians that I glossed over to see if they're the same...

Everything JoyToy produces for the line is just upscaled versions of the model assets.
This is the work of a time traveller, letting us know that GW will never cease embiggening marines until they get to this size and get all the way to MkLLL armour.

Scale creep is real people!!!
scale is an issue with these. my first purchases were two of the chaos havoks. great product. so i ordered a custodes and a custodes allarus terminator. all four of these figures are the exact same size. from what i've seen the krieg boys are *also* about the same size.
This just saved me a lot of money. I keep considering a dive into HH with an IF (I like the yellow and black) MK III army but this should satiate that lust so as to focus on other projects.
I think it would have been better if they had just put a male penitent in there and dressed him appropriately in rags appropriate for a gothic horror space fantasy setting instead of modern day prison jumpsuit minus the flipflops.
warboss wrote: I think it would have been better if they had just put a male penitent in there and dressed him appropriately in rags appropriate for a gothic horror space fantasy setting instead of modern day prison jumpsuit minus the flipflops.
The version with the male model assets has been out for a while. Other than that, not sure what to tell you since the entire line has been using pre-existing GW model assets since the beginning and that prisoner is 3d assets straight from the plastic model's sprue.
to be fair i was surprised to see her in a jumpsuit as well... i thought they dressed her up so i looked and dang if it isnt exactly the same as GW.
guess we missed the update.
$180 (currently $162 preorder price) for a poseable fully painted 20cm action figure to a company that needs to pay a licensing fee to GW. Meanwhile, over on hobby side, models like the 17cm daemon primarch Angron unpainted and unassembled direct from GW with no middle men is $170. Hmmmm.....

Glad to see they're still doing proper MkIII marines. Although I have to work on the assumption that these were in the works before GW released the nu-MkIII, because otherwise I can't really see a reason for them not doing the new version.
Fingers crossed if/when they do Dark Angels, we get this style MkIII.
Snrub wrote: I can't really see a reason for them not doing the new version.
Maybe JOYTOY looked at the new MKIII and just said "no".
JoyToy uses the GW digital sculpts as the basis for their figures, every piece on their figures is a direct upscale of an existing GW asset. They're using the old MkIII assets because that's the existing model assets they received to make these.

Prometheum5 wrote: I still don't understand what the issue with the plastic MkIII kit design is.
I don't think it is the overall kit but the changed helmet. The majority of the complaints I've seen are about that piece with lots of posts/videos about "how to fix" it by removing the point, using the older MK III plastic helms, or printed helms.
