I posted these pictures in Xan's =I=munda thread before, but I think they got lost in the sea of awesomeness, because only my brothers had anything to say about it. =P
So are there others here that have tried making models from scratch? This is my first one, so feedback and suggestions are very welcome.
The reason this began, is because I searched all over for a good female model for my leader, but I couldn't find any that suited her perfectly. So I figured I'd try my hand at building one. She's made entirely out of gs, apart from her weapons and head. I first made a wire frame, which I covered in basic body components - legs, torso, arms. I forgot to get pictures of that stage, so the first image here is from the second stage where I have begun sculpting her coat and body suit.
Then I added shoulder and knee-guards, as well as boots and I fixed the back of the coat up a bit and made it longer.
This is where I got to the interesting stage, of adding weapons! The sword is a spear tip from a bit box and I used a regular old bolt pistol.
Then I added the head. I also got better sculpting tools at this point, so things started looking much smoother. The head is from Hassle free Miniatures.
I know her arms are a bit long and her hands a bit big, but I don't think I can sculpt my own hands yet. I am letting the head settle properly before I begin sculpting anything onto it, so don't worry about it being small. There will be loads of details added. She's not finished yet, but I figured I could post pictures at this stage seeing as I don't think she's that bad for a first attempt.

I saw this on Xanthos' thread, and I have to say it looks fantastic. I don't suppose you want to visit my =I= munda thread and add some ideas? If not, I'm looking forward to seeing this bad girl painted up.

She looks like Vendress from Clone Wars. Amazing work here. Is it 25mm scale? All the more impressive if so.

She's 28mm scale, but really tall. I think she might be part Carthaen, (Where Arianhrod and the Carthaen swords-women of Abnetts books are from.) But her sword is just a regular one, so she is estranged at best. She is a rogue trader, and the leader of my =I=munda gang.
Hehe, after looking around at what others have been doing, I see all the flaws in my own work. If you really like sculpted pieces, check out IceSword's or CMDante's work.

Personally, i think her hands and head look way to big for her thin arms and neck.
The body looks very well done.

@ Chaoticflanagan: I agree about the hands, which is why I mentioned it myself. ^^ I am actually thinking of trying to sculpt some hands myself, though I am not sure how that would turn out. The head is actually very small at the moment in my opinion, though the neck will need to be bulked out more.
@FoxPhoenix135: Hehe thanks, though it'll be a bit longer because it's still WIP. She needs more details first.
@KingCracker: Thank you, there is indeed much tweaking to be done, and we always learn as we go. I certainly hope I won't make the same mistakes twice. =P

For smaller hands, why not find some 25mm models that you could cut up? The LOTR figures tend to have smaller hands too.
Looks good, but the cloak looks too tight around the waist given that it is open. It also doesn't look like it can be closed but that could be the fashion. I think the lower legs are too short too.
Look forward to seeing her with hair.
