Here's some pics of a park I made for my 40k / Apoc modular city:
(the desk is my cube at work where I plot my revenge on that fat-assed, overrated lizard nemesis of mine)

The base is 24" x 12"

I had the vine-work figured out and in place, but I was struggling with how I was going to make the flowers. One night while I was at work destroying a city or two, Mrs. Ghidorah went out and solved my problem for me. She awesomely took the initiative and stripped the leafy bits from a fake plant in our bathroom and cut it up into small pieces and then glued red flock from Woodland Scenics into a little ball on top. She also went into Wal-Mart's fake flower section and bought a couple of pink flowery things with pink, flowery shoots that I snipped off and glued into the bushes.

Thank you Mrs. Ghidorah! That's using your heads!

A couple of armless Dire Avengers to show scale a bit better. Yes, WIP and armless... but they're BASED, dammit!

There you have it.
The statue is from the Empire War Alter. The pillars are cake pillars from Michael's. The dome is a plastic thing from Michael's. The paving and roof is regular 3/16" foamcore. The flower vine support structure is stained balsa rods. All flocking material and trees are Woodland Scenics.

If you can see this post (because you don't have me on ignore), I hope you enjoy and maybe make some pretty parks for your ruined cities!

It's very pretty, and certainly a refreshing change from ruined cityscapes. My only qualm is that the wood stands out a bit; I'd give it a lick of paint to tie into the piece as a whole. A weathered green should work well.

I really should be spending my time more constructively.

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

That's really nice work! I'd echo the thoughts on the wood needing a lick of paint, and also the string looks like string, but other than that, it's fantastic! And an excellent way to use your work desk!

Very nice and a good change of pace.

As for the people calling for dead bodies, aren't the two dismembered space elfs enough?

The statue is the back part from the Empire War Altar. The Grand Theogonist dude.

As a side note, those wings are the WORST pieces of **** to attach. Old-ass metal models ftl.

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments. To touch base on a couple:
1) The wood beams could use a little weathering, I suppose. Not too sold on a green tint, but maybe a slightly darker stain applied here and there would do the trick. I suppose I could also try a little bit of greenish weathering where the flowers and beam sides meet. Sort of like a little bit of chlorophyll run-off seeping down the wooden beam.
2) The vines. These are made from thin hemp twine. I chose this because of the color and the small wisps that fray here and there. Has a nice natural look to the naked eye. Doesn't show up so much in the lens, though. I may just go over the twine with a thin brush and some Devlan Mud to stain it some. In fact, I will do that on a length of test twine and see how it looks when I get home tomorow.

I'll slap up a pic and see what you guys think, too.

Very nice piece of scenery, Ghidorah...

As for the two Dire Avengers, they're not by chance looking for a phone booth, are they?

FANTASTIC!
I wish I saw more pieces like this.

I think it needs a landscaping servitor with a rake, possibly a John Deer hat.
You know, one that would be completely oblivious to the combat around it.

omfg. You made me snort and I almost spit out my Pepsi. You made me think of Groundskeeper Willy yelling at the interlopers for messing up his bushes...

I have this theory.. that for nearly every size comparison.. the person taking the photo has to use one of their unfinished or worst painted miniatures..

Has anyone else noticed this?

Too many armies to count now.. mainly all 40k and AoS

Well, two things about that:

1) I will always choose an unfinished model over a finished one because I do not want the mini to take the focus off of the terrain piece.

2) I took the pics at work and two squads of unfinished, un-armed Dire Avengers is all I have in my desk.

Sicarious85 wrote:...use one of their unfinished or worst painted miniatures.?
Boy. I sure hope my Dire Avengers fall into the former category.
