I finally finished putting together my 1750 pt Sisters of Battle force. I still need a name for it, any thoughts? Here it is:

HQ1 - HQ2 374 pts
Palatine with Bolter
5x Celestians, 2@meltaguns, 3@ bolters
Mounted on Immolators

Troop 1 70 pts
5x Inq StormTroopers
2@meltaguns, 3@hellguns
(Mount on Heavy Support Immolator)

Troop 2 160 pts
10x Sisters of Battle with bolters
Mounted on Rhino

Elites 1-3 450 pts
5x Celestians, 2@meltaguns, 3@bolters
Mounted on Immolators

Fast Attacks 1-3 360 pts
5x Dominions with bolters
Mounted on Immolators

Heavy 1-2 270 pts
Exorcists

Heavy 3 65 pts
Immolator

Totals:
9 Immolators
2 Exorcists
1 Rhino
(12 tanks)
57 bodies
12 meltaguns
7 Faith Points

Fairly simple and straight-forward: My Immolators will close with the enemy and discharge their troops if needed, while the Exorcists fire from a distance. The Rhino-embarked Sisters claim objectives. The =I= StormTroopers will ride in an Immolator and charge forward to take an objective or die trying.

Has anyone run into a similar Sisters force? How did it do? Feedback appreciated.

Always take a Cannoness over a Palatine. You are lacking in troop choices. In objective games you will be at a big disadvantage. A good rule of thumb for minimum troop choice is 2 per 1000points. So ethier takes some stuff away to get a third troop choice or rework the army list. Sister of Battle in my opinion play as a troop army.
My 1750 point sisters list is
2*Cannones one as a troop killer one as a monsterous creature killer
10 sister= 2meltas, veteran sister superior rhino
10 sister= 2 meltas, veteran sister superior rhino
10 sisters= 2 meltas, veteran sister superior rhino
10 sisters= 1 heavy flamer, 1 flamer, veteran sister superior rhino
10 sisters= 1 heavy flamer, 1 flamer, veteran sister superior rhino
10 sister= 1 heavy flames, 1flamer, veteran sister superior rhino
1immolator two with twin linkedmulti meltas
5dominions= veteran sister superior, 4 flamers, immolator
5dominions= veteran sister superior 4 meltas, immolator with multi melta

6rhinos
3immolators
9 tanks
60 troop
12other
72 bodies
12 faith points
13 meltas
12 flamers

So far I am 3 wins 0tie and 0 losses. The current edition is a mission based troop game. If you keep the immolator theme then get 3-4 troops. I have terrible luck with exorcists and I beleive a flamer or melta squad can do its job better for the same price.

Ok, so would you suggest getting rid of my Exorcists and put those points into extra troops? With the 270 points I could get two Rhinos, 10 Sisters and 5 =I= Storm Troopers and a couple of flamers. I love my Immolators too much to reduce their number.

My thought for the current list is that I would secure one or two objectives (the Sisters-in-Rhino and 2x Exorcists would stay in the backfield) while contesting as many objectives in the enemy side with the Immolators and transported bodies. As long as I own one objective and contest the rest, I win. That is why I would keep my large SoB unit in the back, away from heavy fighting. Anything that deepstrikes / outflanks into my backfield would be met with Exorcist fire / Bolter fire and a quick return of whatever Immolators are nearby.

Would that strategy work or should I go ahead and replace Exorcists with troops?

O H I am in the Webway...

Theo you have the right idea for a suggestion but I wouldn't run your list.

And run palatines, less points means more.

Also Theo, the MAIN reason your list isn't THAT great is because you take no BoSL. That is wrong and just downright dumb when you completely rely on those sisters.

David in your list you do lack troops. Exorcists are fun, but things like Speeders eat them up.

I suggest something more akin to this list. If I had the will buy all this than I doubt I would ever lose (except to double Seercouncil)

1749. Yum. 9 Immos 2 Rhinos. Dear god. You could also mix some things around and get a 2nd palatine squad.

19 Meltaguns (holy %$*$)
9 TLHF
4 Flamers
65 Bodies
4 Troop Squads
11 Tanks

Sorry but the amount of melta in this list is filthy. Anything within 12" is dead.

Heya Ezekk... yea, my 1st lists were very much like the one you suggest (I am sure at some point I had the same exact list hehe). I realize that my number of Troops can be a handicap, especially if my opponent goes to destroy them so that I'll have no scoring units. Several things went into the thought process of my list, with the number of troops a main concern:

1. My large troop (the SoBs in Rhino) stays in the backfield away from the main fighting and just a move away from unclaimed objectives. Alternatively I can hold them in Reserve until such time as they appear, again, near an objective. The two Exorcists act as a guard and cover for the Rhino. If the enemy should happen to deepstrike / outflank, the Exorcists and the Rhino-Sisters should be able to contain it, unless of course it's a large IG outflank force or SM deepstrike, in which case I will already know to expect it. Nearby Immolators can double back to help.

2. The small =I= troop in immolator will be my last Immolator to move up the field, looking to claim a weakly held objective at the endgame, or at least contest one. All my Immolators, along with their flesh-and-blood cargo, will be tasked with contesting objectives as their primary mission. If I can hold one objective and contest the rest by aggressively pushing towards the opponents' deployment zone, I win. With a maximum of 5 objectives in a standard game, at the least I should have 2 objectives on my side of the board somewhat secured, and with 9 Immolators and cargo pushing forward, the other 3 objectives should be contested. Deployment is probably the most important factor in objective-based games, and it is there where I will have to make some discerning decisions.

3. I debated the inclusion of my Exorcists for a long time and the decision to add it was a purely personal one. I like the stand-off shooting it affords me, and most of my opponents absolutely hate the Exorcist, to the exclusion of everything else. It is also a problem when my opponents start choking up my main avenues, slowing down my Immos, and I have found that the Exorcists work well as a distraction and even in destroying what ails my Immos. Even though not as powerful as meltas (I have 12 in my force), the Exorcist missiles are potent at putting down MCs and light-to-medium AV vehicles, especially transports, which you want to take out before they get into your side of the table.

Counter arguments are welcome.

Just because its less points does not mean that its more. For ten points you get more wounds attacks and leadership. You also get another faith point. There is no reason ever really to take a palatine over a canoness.

Theo, I would agree with you that a Canoness is a definite bump up for the 10 points. However, with those 10 points I was able to get another meltagun where I needed it. Since I am not running a true "Faith" list and am hoping to stay out of hand-to-hand combat (where the Canoness becomes beneficial over the Palatine), I chose the Palatine. You will see a lot of Sisters mechanized lists opt for the less expensive Palatine in order to squeeze the points elsewhere.

Hey David, long time Witch Hunter player here, and here's my suggestions for you.

Protecting your troops is the name of the game, Sisters are a short range effective army thus you're going to be seeing close combat on a few of your squads during the game, depending on how you use your faith points determine how effective your force is in a list like this. So, after saying that, I think you need to drop the Storm Troopers and Immolator and pick up a second sisters squad in a Rhino instead. Also, the way they are equipped now they're an easy target once their Rhino blows up which won't be hard because your Rhinos don't have extra armor or smoke to protect them. Against an opponent like IG their firepower is just going to constantly stun your Rhinos and Immolators and force you to footslog across the field while they pick you off from a distance. You want to be mobile, so extra armor and smoke are almost always needed, for only 7 points it offers a ton of protection. Remember, we get a +4 cover save from smoke, our codex goes off the current rulebook. Sisters are pretty much the most effective troop choice in the game for their point value, take advantage of it and equip your sisters with their special weapons and a veteran with a book. The book makes your sisters stubborn and test on LD 9 or 10 (If used with a Cannoness)
