I'm trying to go for 1500 so I can field the Saint I've been working so hard on. Any suggestions? I just started 40k about less than a year ago, so I'm a bit new at this. Haven't played (or won...) many games yet, but I'm thinking my new rhinos will help with that a little. I should likely get some exorcists, I know, since my main opponents are gonna be Eldar, 'Nids, Tau, and IG.. Any thoughts?

As another Sisters player who is also in the business of redeeming the heretics let me offer you some encouragement!

The Exorcists will help A LOT. There are very few situations where they do not blow faces off. Three of them will put you right at 1500.

Smokes and Searchlights on your Rhinos are also a must. The points for searchlights pay off in spades in Dawn of War (33%) of the time.

I would lose Litanies and get a Book of St Lucius on the Cannoness instead. YMMV on the Mantle.

Another suggestion is to put Melta Bombs on your Veteran Sisters in case you are fighting walkers. A Melta Gun in the squads might help you out too, firing it from the fire point on the Rhino.

Not a bad start overall. I played SoB for two years w/o Exorcists and the army plays much differently (and better) using them for some long range support. A few recommendations I would make.

Put smoke and armor on your Rhinos. It is cheap and they need the 4+ from cover.

Holy Promethium and PM SB are not worth it on an Immo. I would use Smoke and Armor and that is it. I would also field it as a 5 man celestian unit with 2 meltas. You can do that for 160 or so points.

Add another Immo for another Melta Celestian team, 4x Meltas should be enough at this level to deal with Heavy Armor.

Add 2x Exorcists

Drop the BW on your Nun and Litanies, add an Eviscerator. Her one and only real job is to make it to the tank line and start buthcering vehicles. In CC 3 attacks just are not enough to take down units unless they are small specialist units and if that is the case you want the Eviscerator. It also lets her tear through walkers. (run her Solo imo so she can stay totally out of LoS while she advances initially)

Book the Canoness so she can share her ld. 10.

7 man Seraphim squads with 2 Infernos and an Eviscerator are the only way to run them IMO. That lets them get off what Faith they need and turns them into a vehicle hunting squad, which is what you really need them to do to make back their cost.

No experience with GK, but I think a psycannon would be better on a footslogging squad than a flamer.

Edit: Just saw, run only a Brazier or a Combi-flamer on the Vet. Sup. (or a Brazier and Combi-Melta) since you are realistically only going to lay down 1 flame template with each squad.

Litanies I was thinking because hey, free faith. The cannoness is supposed to be an IC or MC hunter, mostly. I don't face a lot of vehicles in my group. Hence the squad of dominions. Though I do have six leftover sisters I can combine with them and turn them into two melta celestian squads of five...

We only play annihilation here, so searchlights aren't as big a deal, but smoke sounds good. Forgot about that.

GKs are supposed to 'port in behind enemy lines and burn stuff up with their incinerators, pretty much.

Book on the cannoness sounds good. And I'll look into getting an extra seraph. Sounds cool.

The trouble is it is aweful expensive for that. If you want a DS unit with flamers get a min sized Seraphim squad to DS in with 2x Hand Flamers and a Brazier so you can drop 3x flame templates instead of one. If you do happen to survive you can Hit and Run to do it again.

For the cost of Litanies you can grab almost another Canoness for 4x Faith, the free AoF is nice, but when it is useful you are usually so out of position you are losing anyway.

Annihilation is a Mission type, deployments are Pitched, Dawn of War and Spearhead.

I do not use Searchlights either, I prefer to keep my Rhinos safe from antitank fire with Night Fight Turn 1 and Turn 2 smoke them up since SoB are a 12" army.

Think of the Canoness this way. S 5 wounds MEQ on a 3 with a max S of 7 to Instant Kill T 3. An Eviserator wounds MEQ on a 2+ and goes to S 8 to Instant Kill T 4. If you want to hunt either the Mantle is a good investment.

If you do not face a lot of vehicles it means your opponents will hopefully not pack a ton of anti armor and taking those extra Immolators will really mess them up. Plus you can IC MEQ with Melta's.

Edit: Remember the Immo has 2x Heavy Flamer that fire as Twin Linked Heavy Flamers. That means they need two Weapon Destroyed results to take it off and it remains twin linked after the first.

O.o Really? I thought the Immo TLHFlamers counted as one weapon with one template? Huh.. Well, I guess that's good to know.

Good points on the seraphim and cannoness... I1 kinda hurts her though. Hm...

Alas, I've already bought the knights. Not much choice but to use them now. They're still good for having storm bolters and doing really well in melee. better than seraphim, at least.

Eldar player packs Fire Dragons, though I haven't fought those yet.

You only get one flame template to shoot, but it still takes 2 weapon destroyed to kill it.

I 1 is not a big deal at the end of the day. It may mean she does not take down 2 Marines before a whole tactical kills her, but that is hardly game breaking. With an Eviscerator she takes out Vehicles, Walkers, IC and TMC. I have run mine into a Hive Tyrant, Ork Warboss and a squad of Terminators and come out the victor. In one game I had the pair of them Dismantle and Ironclad Dread and a Venerable Dread over 3 turns. Once the DCCW is gone she ends up getting her straight 2+ save against them as well.

A BW is okay, but it just lacks a real punch.

Edit: Literally dismantle she pulled all the arms off, immobilized them both and killed them with 'Weapon Destroyed' results.

Hm, arright. Still, good to know. I'll try running her with an eviscerator for a couple games, see how that pans out. Maybe mastercraft it..

I just figured the BW was a good deal 'cause you get to go at regular inish, reroll misses, and only have one less strength than the eviscerator. I guess that one strength makes a difference, eh? Hm.

Edit: I've heard of "Repressors"- What are those? Something from a forgeworld book? Are they legal?

Repressors are from Imperial Armor, if your group plays using them they are good, I have never used them as I use the standard Dex.

You only get to reroll one miss with a Master Crafted weapon, if it was all misses then the BW would be CONSIDERABLY better.

I'll look into Imperial Armor, then. I hear they have flamers. Flamers are delicious.

They are the one unit I REALLY want to see in the new WH codex coming at some point in the next two decades (repressors that is).

This is looking much better. I would shave points by doing the following...

Drop the Power Weapons from all the Superior, you do not need them and they wound MEQ on a 4+. You should burn away the entire squad anyway.

Add an Eviscerator to the Seraphim.

Drop the Celestian Superiors and use that plus the Power Weapon points to buy your other Melta Celestians a transport.

you can add Celestine to get to 1500.

i would drop the GK at 1500 for 2 Exorcists myself with just smoke on them.

You may want to consider another SoB squad as well, I find 3 is a good number
