Hi,

Along with many of my current projects, im building a BA based chapter (Angles Exemplar), having read about the 21st founding i have decided to bace my chapters history around it, but what do people think about have a Primarch-like chapter master?

Some Background:

If you can bear to read it, here it is. I wont be offended if you dont tho.

Angels Exemplar

Armour Colours

Pre Tyron Incident:

Rank and File: White armour plates, Red shoulder pads, gold trim
Death Company: Deep red armour plates, White helm, Black crosses

Post Tyron Incident:

Rank and File: White armour plates, Red shoulder pads, gold trim, 1 black shoulder and knee pad.
Death Company: Deep red armour plates, Black helm, Black crosses, Black gloves.

Designation, Rank markings and Colours

Officers/Squad Leaders: White helm with black stripe.

Priests/Chaplains: Deep red armour plates, White helm, gloves and trim.

Captains/Astartes of rank: White armour similar to the pre Tyron Scheme, Gold helm/death mask and other detailing, Gold trim

Black knee pads are always worn on the left hand side, to commemorate Tyron.

Company indicated by Strip on right knee and left shoulder pad:

1st Company: What little is left of the Terminator armour the chapter once possessed is now gathered under the banner of the fist company, 1st company also comprises of the small amount of dedicated Sanguinary guard left to the chapters disposal. 1st company's plate is white similar to Captains plate but with Black helm detailing.

4th Company: Indicated by a white diagonal stripe across the right knee and left shoulder pads, 4th company is now the only full strength company the chapter processes, amalgamated from the remnants of the reinforcements deployed on Tyron and new aspirants. Survivors of Tyron often display marking of the previous company on the right knee and left shoulder pad.

9th Company: 9th company now only consist of a very few Astartes made up from the remnants of the custodian force for Tyron disaster, these few are known as the unforgiven amongst the battle brothers. These Astartes are marked out by their black helms and gloves.

10th Company: Scout division – Black armour – Camo cloth - very stealth orientated due to small numbers

*The chapter as a whole now numbers no more that 200 Astartes, although their fleet is extensive.

Designations

Blue Stripe : Devastator
Yellow Stripe: Assault
Red Stripe: Veterans

Characters of Note

Chapter Master: Angelos Raguel – Once the chapters Exemplar of the Host, now force to take the mantel of chapter master after Tyron.

1st Company Captain: Barakiel Duoma
4th Company Captain: Vohu Manah
9th Company Captain: Nathaniel Maion
10th Company Scout Captain: Xaphan Forfax

Bath Kol – Keeper of secrets – Dreadnought Librarian

Back Ground – Pride before the fall.

Once a notoriously proud successor chapter of the Blood Angels, boasting a full compliment of 10 companies the Angels Exemplar's gracefully do not suffer the gene faults of the parent chapter to the same extent, for they do not manifest themselves as prevalently as some of there cousins, although always present, only a fraction of the chapter every fall to the black rage or the red thirst, This is be-leaved to be due to the Homo Sapiens Novus project carried out during the 21st founding, later daubed the cursed founding. The Angels Exemplar where a vision of perfection and an example to all other Astartes for over 4millenia.
Then came the Tyron disaster, Tyron Pime was once the Angels Exemplar's home world, a feral world turned to a beautiful metropolis of glass and light. From Tyron Prime, the Angels Exemplar's governed an area of space in the Ultima Segmentum, within close proximity of the enveloped Clax system.
It was on Tyron Prime that the Angels Exemplar's chapter was broken. The Tyron system like many had suffered from Xenos attacks in the past and chapter had always been victorious. But the incursion that culled the Angels Exemplar was not anything like the system had experienced before. Hive fleet Kraken was detected moving in system towards the beginning of 998 M41, by the time the danger realised and alarm raised communication with five of the systems outer planets had been lost. Having repelled other Xenos attacks in the past the then 9st Captain (his name forgotten and stricken from record) decided that to call back the chapter in defence would be smudge on his honour and even with the full strength of a hive fleet bearing down on the system, was completely unnecessary, and that he, the 9th, elements of the 10th and the PDF would be more than capable of victory. This decision and his pride signed the names of millions on the list of the dead. Only when defeat was upon them did the 9th call for aid. Realising the danger and effect of losing their home world to Xenos would have on the Chapter, Chapter Master Rhamiel Urim recalled the whole chapter and rallied their outside the system. Even though the fate of there home world was sealed the fleet sped for Tyron Prime, even before making planet fall, casualties where high, many of the fleets most powerful ships where turned to floating fields of twisted metal. But even with this the space directly around Tyron prime was left packed with dead hive ships leaky fluid into the void.
When the remainder of the chapter reached the planets surface they where greeted with a planet infested with Tyranid life, the entire planet was consuming its self ready to feed the Xenos continued incursion and only a handful of the 4th still lived, their captain not among them. At this Chapter master Rhamiel Urim reasoned that Tyron Prime was no longer theirs and could not be won back by any size imperial force. And yet instead of abandoning the planet contrived to deny the enemy a meal. Destroying the planet from orbit was not an option as the fleet had taken substantial damage and losses, only one option was still open, The World Eater Virus.
The virus is not a weapon held in most Astartes armoury halls, and the Angles Exemplar where no different, instead they would have to located the only source available, the inquisitorial fortress of Tyrons largest city, Trayious. The Angels Exemplar fought their way the the city though wave upon wave of Xenos creatures, loosing many of there number. Once inside the fortress Rhamiel was surprised to find a small contingent of inquisitorial troopers and inquisitor still defending the lowest vaults of the complex, The inquisitor leading the force had thought along the same lines as Rhaniel and had prepared a virus bomb.
And so the plot to deny hive fleet Kraken was unfolded, the combined force of the inquisition and Astartes fought the extradite themselves from the planet before it was to late, only thinning there numbers more. It was during the extraction that Rhamiel fell, struck low by a giant chitinous creature. With fate looming the last of the survivors where extracted to the orbiting fleet, where they prepared for a speedy departure as more living hive ships encircled the planet once again. Once clear of the system and out of danger, the fleet watched as the hive ships dropped huge umbilical cords down tot he waiting capillary towers, allowing the ships to take on biomass harvested from the planet, it was only then that the combined psychic abilities of the sole serving Librarian and inquisitor reached out and triggered the bomb almost killing the both of them, leaving both paralysed from the effort. The fleet watched as the virus tour through the planet and the docked hive fleet alike, killing everything on and connected to the planet in a matter of hours, some hive ships attempted to disengaged but their dying biology would not obey, instead leaving them dead floating husks of ash in the void. Others fell into the atmosphere as continent sized fireball igniting the now flammable nitrogen rich air. The sight was unimaginable, a wave of fire thousands of kilometres long and high moving at the speed of sound engulfing the planet entirely, covering the surface in a sea of flames.
With their home world dead in flames, the system over run and without a chapter master to guide them, The Exemplar of the Host, Angelos Raguel, took up the mantel of chapter custodian only until a suitable candidate for Chapter Master came forth. But even now he still leads the remnant of the once great and proud Angles Exemplar, directing the fleet where most needed always shadowed by the watchful eyes of the inquisition.

Hmm. The fluff is well written and doesn't offend, so that is good.

You kind of start to walk the path of the Mary Sue with the oh so perfect chapter with no faults, and then temper it nicely with mistakes and tragedy, so good job there.

Having a super-awesome primarch-like chapter master is taking you back down the dangerous path of the Mary Sue. If you can justify it well and temper your indulgence with faults and tragety and keep the 'grimdark' tone to the fluff it could work.

To most people I would say don't try it, but it looks like you have done well so far. You might be able to pull it off.

I say like, one ginal primach, having been stuck in a time loop in the warp is discovered on a nearplanet where the Angels exempaler were fighting a daemonic incursion, the primach grew fast and within 10 years was a towering giant of a space marine, who with forgotten forbidden technolodgy found in the same capsule that he was in, fights on now as the chapters leader,

I'd say mephistons stats, artificer amour, relic blade, vengence round bolt pistol, something to give him a 4+ invun and jump pack

Thanks, i have tried to keep it believable and inline with GW's fluff as possible. I havn't decided on fluff yet, will try and incorporate it with the stuff i'v got at the Mo. My plan for the Primarch-Like CM is that even though his chapter is almost free of the black rage, he himself suffers from moments of extreme rage, where he is almost as likely to attack friend as well as foe. something along those lines.

I like the idea of the CM being found. Maybe in the hurt for new gene seed on a Mechanicus forge world? A world that took part in the 21st founding?

I cant remember if i mentioned it in the background, but there are the unforgiven, the remnants of the custodian force that were charged with Tyron's safety. I think that their company could provide a good story line.

One last add in, There have been reports of the disgraced captain of the 9th and a few followers escaping in a damaged shuttle from a space port on the far side of the planet, before the world was turned to an inferno. They still wear the white of their chapter, but it has succumbed to decay and the powers of chaos. Angry and bitter at how the blame was layed on the 9th, they reportedly turned renegade after a meeting/Communiqué with "The keeper of Secrets" and Angelos Raguel.

As for Stats, i was thinking something a little tuffer, Like maybe a Furioso/Lib Dread or perhaps just Dante?

I like the fluff, but please space out the paragraphs! that makes it much easier to read. those links you posted earlier are also very helpful.

I think you do need to be careful with a super Chapter Master, but you could pull it off. Maybe have it be a flaw in the geneseed which some may see as a way for chaos to enter, and others see as a beauty which is shown by the power of the chapter master.
