Alrighty, so, some of you might've noticed my post in the swapshop about offering to paint peoples figures for free so that I could build up my portfolio so to speak( to view it...http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/301571.page) but, here's the blog of my past work( which will probably end up being updated and nitpicked) and what models I'm sent, the first of which is one of the older keeper of secrets, the bullheaded one(http://www.wigan-wargames.co.uk/gallery/upload/Nezza/Keeper%20of%20Secrets.jpg) which is from and for leo the rat. I've got it piece into a lower and upper half atm, with the two lower arms already on the legs and the head hooked to the upper arms and such. I've got it base coated and I'll be heading back to the desk for some painting in abit.

And now to showing off what I've done so far
I've laid the basecoat of black, done a base skintone of tan flesh( I'm wanting there to be that pinkish tone in the crevaces, but I'll get to that later) I've started some of the detailing though tomorrow I'm gonna have to go in and do alot of touch ups, my eyes were killin me tonight for some reason. Now, i've got two questions, I'm heading to tfngs tomorrow to get some paints for the flesh, so, can anyone tell me what color or equivalent I'll need for the usual greyish purply flesh most slaneeshy critters have. And what bit of code do I need to jam into my attached images to shrink them. either post or pm either if not both answers, it'd be mighty helpful.
On a side not, to those looking for plasticard and not rightly certain where it is, well, everyone says go to lowes or home depot or someplace like that, well, if you do, and you're not sure where it is, well, if you're really needing it, there are certain of the " for sale" and the like signs that are made of it, you'll have to take some mean green to it to get the print off of it, but it'll do the job.

Arts and crafts shops should have plasticard if you need the fine stuff, otherwise, thicker stuff is used in all sorts of thing, For Sale signs outside houses for instance, if you're wandering home in the wee small hours of the night...

I use to have that KoS, went on to become a DP in someone's army and gained a whip for LoS.

If the fella you're painting for is willing, a minor bit of conversion work to give a whip etc might be cool.

thanks for that green, I've looked at some of the local a&c places around here and they didn't have it, so I had to settle, but once I get the print off it'll be just fine. But I'll ask the guy, and if he goes for it I'll be asking you for advice on how to give the thing a whip. But anyway, still looking for the proper paint color for the skin, wanting it to be that sick greyish purple look to it

well, I've nearly got the skintone just right, just need to lighten it a shade or two. and then I'll be touching up on afew details tonight after going to see the A team, I've already seen it, but my baby brother wants to see it.

So, thinking how to base this guy, I'm thinking lay down some fine sand, paint it grey and black, to look bleak and desolate, then paint in bright red or purple color a summoning circle with maybe some glow in the dark ink, make it look likes he's peeling out of the warp or something of the sort, any suggestions

Do what you think is needed to make the model as interesting as you want (treat it as if it was yours). I'll just sit back and watch. shiny, I'm working on the base right now, just letting the sand dry. I also got the idea of building a base for my IG promos out of the cardboard they were boxed in and some green stuff

so, all but done with this keeper of secrets, unless I decide at the last minute to do the whip bit green mentioned.

the base turned out better than I thought, by complete accident it ended up looking rather like a chaos undivided symbol, I just intended for a simple summoning circle, but eh, it looks good

and to that tiled base, well, it's almost done, and I'm considering making a whole set of them and re-basing most of my army


and once again, who knows what bit of code to throw into this to make the image not so large, it's kind of annoying

So, had an idea to make some bases based on the look of the tyrnids in the big book on page 216, I think. I liked the look of'em, so, I sat and thought on how to do it, finally came up with an idea, make a thick layer of modeling clay, dig the groove in, and then cut them off the base, and bake'em. so far it's looking pretty good. I'll be doing some sanding and painting and reatatching to their bases in just a few minutes. also, just need to glue the head of the KoS on and get her safely packaged and she'll be ready to send back to leo.

Lookin good! I have some marines that I got from someone after a nail polish remover incident. I salvaged some of the parts and added some new ones. If you want to have a go at some marines shoot me a pm.

I'm pretty sure I have some random AOBR marines, if you want to use any.

So, was quite happy to get a package from another bloke on here containing mad dok grotsnick and a meganob, something about those meganobs just makes me actually consider starting an ork army, don't know what it is about them, they're just too da&* cool. Anyway, so, laid a basecoat on what needed basecoating,



then did the skin on the MNs face, turned out pretty good for my lack of orky exp, then started on the coloring of his jaw and left arm

and have done most of the doks upper body


and last but not least is the final shots of that Keeper of Secrets that will be going out tomorow back to it's home, after some trial and error I finally got the cameras to take some good pics of this little critter.






so, what do ya think, the any suggestions, comments, criticisms, bad jokes

they look awsome Id love to see what you could do with tanks or tons of models like an ig blob squad or ork squad

actually there is a guy wanting me to do some IG, which I'm rather excited about. but there will be much more slowly but surely trickling across my table my friends

I'm sorry for the lack of updates, there'll be plenty in afew hours. I had drill with the national guard this weekend and ended up going to tullohoma.

I just received my Keeper of Secrets today. And I can say that it looks just as good as the pictures promised. There are no flashlines and everything looks to be solidly put together. As to the paint job the pictures speak for themselves. I would happily reccomend Seanjean's painting services to anyone who asked. But most of all I found his asking price well worth it .

The only critisism I'd give ya would be to post the pics, especally finished ones, in 600px. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for my guys!

I won't deny my pics aren't fantastic, I'm trying to get a new camera, or at least borrow one from a friend, hopefully that'll come about soon, and looking forward to getting your guys man, and i'm glad you like the keeper leo, that was actually one of the first times i've done gap filling so it was an interesting challenge, though i will say there was one tiny gap in the straps under the lower right arm, but i couldn't figure out how to raise up to that, but past that i was quite pleased with how it turned out, and had a blast doing that base

okay, so, done some work on the meganob, it's coming together nicely, also had a funny idea to for a little addon for these two figures, as the guy these belong to is from the miami area, well, i was sitting thinking how can i badmoon up the mad dok and make him, unique, well, i was sketching ideas and of course, throwing a good few away, when i look down, and notice the envelope next to my trashcan, which is an old memorobilia miami dolphins trashcan, and his return adress laying next to it, and you can guess where this is going




tried to make it look moonlike yet still hold that shape. hope I can paint that where i want to as good as it looks in my mind, what do you lot think

So, it's been a while since i updated this, but i've been busy with annual training with the national guard, here's some pics of what i've been working on with that

no worries on that man, i understand, i've been right lazy this week, but i've got about 7 boyz put together and finished and a whole lot more, i've got some concept doodles on what i'm gonna do with the marines you sent which i'm holding off getting done with all these greenskins. I'll take some pics tonight and post'em, and next week i'll kick myself into gear since i no longer have Mass Effect 2 to distract me....unless I wanna see the other endings... no, bad john, must, paint, orks

so, finally got a good number of boyz painted, and just realized i only have about half taken pictured, so i'll post the big shoota boyz in a bit and edit this, but since i'm here, i'll post what i've got.



so, i started on these yesterday, after getting ahold of a new foundation, kharnack green, and quite frankly, I love it, it's an awesome shade of green. I realize this is the base color of one of my favorite models, which i'm too lazy to look for, it's the one of the games day ork in front of the bike, just a badass mini and a damn good color, I think I'll do afew with this as the main color rather than a secondary basecoat. but anyway.


And once again, please, someone gimme some advice via pm or open on here on how to control the size of the pics, please, it's driving me crazy

NP, took me quite a while to figure out as well (Gitsplitta explained it to me). Your painting them much faster then I was, I've got probally 20k points of marines to paint, so they were going to take awhile (read: forever). Looking forward to seeing them in person! Did you decide what to do with the SMs?

BTW, Whaleuvatide made me lol.

hahaha, glad to hear it was right entertaining as it was in my head. and the marines I'm still debating between angels of absolution and the consecrators, I'll do more deciding after i've got the majority of the green tide done
