Playing on a city board (non-city fight rules)
Mission: Capture and Control
Deployment: Spearhead (corners)

Here's the board:

He won deployment and took first. his deployment(after objectives):

He keeps the Terminaters with attatched librarian to deepstrike, along with both pods (full) and the Landspeeder squad. He

places the bikes in normal reserve. Shrike with Assault squad is infultrating.

My deplyment in return:

I keep a Warfish with firewarriors in reserve. Stealth Team is infultrating.

His objective is near the middle of the board on his short side with the preditor and the marines. Mine is about dead center
of my deployment area, in the ruin under the broadsides.
I win for infultrators and counter infultrate to stop the Shrike's threat on the broadsides. He puts Shrike about dead
center behind the tallest building. I roll for initiative and don't make it.

Turn 1: SM) He mobilizes. He drops the Dreadnought right next to my suits, in cover from most everything. The
Razorbacks move out and 2 pop smoke. The preditor squared up against my Broadsides kills a drone. The other
pred targets a Shas'el squad and whiffs. The dread melts a suit. Whirlwind falls just short of the exposed
Firewarrior squad. Some covers saves are made on the Crisis suits. Everyone holds.

Tau) Firewarrios load up and out we go. Pathfinders mark the closest Razorback with 3 marks. The broadsides
split fire between the marked Razor and the dreadnought. The dread is not in cover from one of them and is
now wrecked. The other penetrates the Razor with no cover save from the lights and stuns it. At this point
I realize I forgot to move my Stealth Team >< One deathrain squads gets through the smoke and explodes the
other Assault cannon Razorback! It takes a marine with it. Hammerhead stuns the central preditor and the
Stealth team chips the stunned Razorback's paint as it's all they can see. The other Hammerhead wrecks the
Lascannon Razorback as now it has no cover. The other deathrain squad also gets through the smoke and
explode the last Razorback. I've only just started using Deathrain suits and I must, I absolutely love them.
Shas'el kills 2 assault marines. All my warfish kill 2 more assault marines and another random marine.
Assault marines run!

Turn 2: SM) Everything but his bikes comes in from reserve. Since he has lost the momentum, he decides to regroup on his
objective to defend it. He also sends shrike and the last assault marine that way. The forward placed pred
vaporizes a Shas'el, and the lascannon on his objective finished the Bodyguard. The mass of marines in the
center of th board now unload on the other Shas'el squad. The plasma marine fries himself (lol). No harm
done. One squad unloads on Pathfinders, killing one. Landspeeders destroy a SMS. I have to say after
everything came in it looked really bad, but it was rather anti-climatic.

Tau) My Warfish comes in and charges his objective. I debate a mass unload of firewarrios around the marine blob,
but decide not to. Seeker missiles take out 2 marines (only 2 marker light hits after the Marker drone hit ).
2 Warfish finish that squad. A hammerhead blast a captain and a shmoe from another squad. Shas'el
and Deathrain squad leave just the flamer standing. My broadsides destroy both skimmers. The other
hammerhead does jack all to the termies. Stealth team and 2 remaining warfish combine to kill a total of 2
termies. Everybody holds and I jump around. Decide to sacrifice a Deathrain squad to try and keep the
Pathfinders around a little longer.

Turn 3: SM) Bikes come in. That lone flamer marine circumvents my Deathrain wall. Everybody shuffles around a bit for
positioning and stuff. The librarian tries for some Null Zone but fails without perils. The bikes make the
Stealth team invisible (they die.) The back edge pred opens up a can on the broadsides, leaving one left
standing. He runs forever more. The flamer marine burns out 2 pathfinders. The now positioned missile
launcher pops one of the deathrains leaving the Pathfinders open to assault. Everybody (except broadside)
holds, and some assault happen. The pathfinders actually kill a termi in close combat! I do not survive however...

Tau) I'm on the back foot now. I move to scuffle for my objective and hopefully blow him off of his. My
Deathrain flames the flamer guy +3 more termies, no death. One Hammerhead piddles away at some marines.
Shas'el takes out 2 termies. One of the warfish finally finishes off the flamer guy. Far Hammerhead wrecks
the pred clear across the board! Look at this shot!

My warfish kill off some more marines. The now loanly Sargent runs while I jump around. I left some
Deathrain bait, but I dunno if he'll take it.

The Hammerhead is fine, the gun just fell off do to cat problems (meow!)

Turn 4: SM) He lost some security on his objective. He takes the Deathrain bait... with Shrike 0_o. The marines near
his objective move out the hopefully stop the attack on that side. Melta gun explodes a Warfish, taking 4
Firewarrios with it, and pinning them. Lascannon hits another, and I pass the first disrupted save I have to
take. Bikes whiff bad on the other Warfish (all miss.) His whirlwind, which has done nothing all game,
drops a plate on the now exposed firewarrios. He scatters and hits Shrike instead, saved the wounds though.
Pred can't hurt my Hammerhead. The lone sargent, now regrouped, assaults the newest Warfish. Librarian and
Termie make it to the Shas'el squad. Libby Force weapons him, and Termie squished the Bodyguard. No more
suits for me.

Tau) It's starting to get down to the wire, possibility of only one more turn. I unload all the Warfish around my
objective and storm the other objective with whatever I have left. The storming Warfish take out a sarg.
Another removes the last marine on my home objective. The firewarrios kill the last Termie and it takes both
Hammerheads to pop the Librarian. I was really nervous about unloading the way I did with the bikes where
they were. The firewarriors unloaded into them and caused 5 wounds...not good. Here is his saving throws
and would allocation.

Things are begining to look up!

Turn 5: SM) Could be last turn, so he is now playing for a draw. Melta gun blows another Warfish sky high, taking out
another 4 Firewarriors, but they are not pinned this time. The whirlwind scatters away into the wind. The
preditor shakes the other Warfish storming his objective. Everybod holds and some assaulting happens.
Shrike whiffs on the shaken Warfish and the now unpinned firewarriors lose to the lone sarg but get to run
away.

Tau) Scream to the objective! Those running firewarriors continue they're jog right off the board. Hammerheads
kill 2 of the marines sitting on the objective. They hold. Firewarriors kill the meltagun and the charging
warfish kills shrike, but not the sarg. Does the game end in a draw? Nope, it's a 5, game on!

Turn 6: SM) He is trying everything to remove the Warfish from his objective. After a lot of shooting, there are only 2
penetrating hits, and it is only shaken. The lone sarge assaults the Firewarrios and whiffs, they stay
locked. The assault marine can't hit the Warfish.

Tau) The Warfish tankshocks the Lascannon squad. He Death or Glorys with the lascannon and glances a gun
off...squish! Marines are forced to move off the objective. Dice roll to continue, it's a 4. Game over.

Result: Tau win 2-0

Aftermath: I feel rather well about this one. Hindsight is always 20/20, but I think I made the right descion to stay in the
transports on turn 2. The marker drone/seeker missiles didn't do much, but the pathfinders died early. Spending 50 or so
points on missile that rely on one squad is probably not the best idea. I may split the pathfinders into two squads of 4
with drones if points allow. Stealth Team did squat, but same can be said of his transports. MVP goes to Deathrains,
transport killers to the max! Overall rather good I think. Marines had some bad luck go their way. Thanks for reading c&c welcome!

Edit: I just wanted to say HOLY CRAP! That was my first attempt ever, and it was successful, +10 to self-esteem.

Fairly well played, though I think the Fists player made a few mistakes...
Namely, using a Whirlwind instead of squeezing in more bodies or more guns.

Well played.

Yeah. Not a big fan of whirlwinds, and apparently luck hate this one in particular. I would have rather seen another pred or something like that in there. Those bikes need to get some better armor, too lol. Good report. Thorough and informative. Keep it up!

Ipso facto auto-hit.

Good job with the report and the pictures were great. I especially liked your railgun sniping of the predator through lots of cover. And the cat causing weapon destroyed gave me a chuckle.

Your list seemed a bit Firewarrior heavy and light on suits. Still, it was good to see Firewarriors have a good game despite how many people (like myself) run the minimum and keep them in transports.

Great Report!

Just a note for your list building in the future, a squad of 3 Crisis Suits w/Team Leader equipped with TL'd MPs and Flamers is 110 points not 99.

Thanks for all the kind words on the report.

@Nocturus: How do you figure that? They are actually teams of 2, but they are still 99 points 2(25+18+4)+5, teams of 3 would be 146 points. I would be more specific, but we can't post specific point costs for specific wargear.

You are correct on the 146, I was off on my adding for the team of 3. I thought you were fielding teams of 3 and yes 99 is dead on for teams of 2. Either way great report .

Whirlwinds... that's all you can say sometimes. Curse those whirlwinds.
