Mantic keeps us up to date about everything that is going to come out and go for quantity over quality (which is still high).
GW tells us about stuff just before they come out and produce "High quality models" and sell them with rules.
Have fun with the debate!

It should be
GW vs All other companies.
Privateer Press are doing a LOT of crowdsourcing for their rules, and getting feedback and game testing from its actual fanbase. They act like a video game company except for miniatures/wargames - a very Seattle-style business as thats how it goes down over here.
Mantic is also combating the behemoth and thus they have to have great selling points on why people should dump money to their game system (which is sitll WIP) than GW.
Its rather the Marketing model itself you are asking about.
GW on the other hand is a behemoth and owns multiple gaming systems. They span out on all their stores and there is no 'real' reason for any kind of future announcement at all. Why would a large company announce say - New Necrons 6 months ahead of time? That could potentially affect sales - there is no real benefit except hype but its really not needed. You'd get a lot of people who'd actually 'wait' it out those months instead of buying current necrons in fear that their models might suck/look better with the new edition.
The Flash announcements allows for more immediate and impulsive buyer decisions from us wargamers. By truly WOWing us out of no where - we then look at our pockets and then back at the model to see if we can get it.
By announcing stuff early doesnt work for the GW Codex model. Not even for the 2ndary realeases. I'm pretty sure GW wants to rid all their old stock/run of a model and then hit the market again with the new version - they'd have potentially more sales instead of sitting with stock that is OOP/old edition that doesnt move at all.
In the end I truly believe it has to do with the codex system versus other companies such as PP who release 'exspansion' packs with no full rehaul lost in the miniature line at all - only exspansions, not redos.

It's being run by people with short term vision and enough greed to extinguish a sun.
Perhaps they're the C'tan. |

So you started another thread which.....amounts to the same the thing?
Curious as to what you want to 'discuss?'
The supposed Mantic thread spamming or restarting a discussion that has happened a few times here on this very board?

Same business model, new business. Being the new kid on the block has it's advantages, they barely have to advertise because their notoriety does it for them. This is the same way GW would have gotten started. They become the cheap alternate model elephant in the room that people can't ignore and the more GW tries to compete the more effective their strategy of not marketing becomes.
Mantic will eventually become what GW is, assuming it is successful. I seriously doubt it will dethrone the Warhammer franchise. Many have tried, it's the WoW of miniature gaming.
