Hi there. I've been meaning to do this for ages, and yesterday's Combat Fatigue tourney gave me the perfect excuse. The very first army I collected when I got back into the game was my converted Empire Militia/Imperial Guard army. The painting was very basic, and I included every guard-like model I had, using the 3ed IG Codex.

It's been sitting in a box for years now, occasionally venturing out to be some allied Inquisitor's guard elements, but since the release of the 5ed IG Codex, I thought it was due a quick update - at least so that it's useable. The plan is to turn this into a Infantry/Blob themed IG army - probably no vehicles at all, and very little high-tech weaponry. Jobs to do are.

- Give the whole army a ink wash and highlight - the painting was never that good, and the wash will help.
- Give the whole army a matt varnish - I used to use tons of Purity Seal and they're very shiny!
- Rebase the whole army - scrape off my terrible old green flock/gravel texture.

- Put the heavy weapon teams on 60mm bases, convert the loaders into more characterful loading models.
- Re-arm with low-tech special weapons - the whole army had plasmaguns before and now I want flamers and grenade launchers.
- Build any extra models needed, see what bits I have over and make additional heavy weapon teams.

Here's a before and after shot for comparison. I've updated the Article for this army, with full army photos here - http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/3rd_Choufleur_Militia_%28Imperial_Guard%29

Very nice indeed! - The gun teams are my favourite.

I have some old Empire metals, (Greatswords, handgunners, Knights panther,) if you want them, you can have them for free for this army.

Really like the look of using Empire figures in 40k. Looking good Ian!

Ooh, yes please. The greatswords in particular might make quite good Sgts with power weapons. I'll swap you for some Marine stuff this week if you like?
