I made this as a follow up of a 40k tactica posting on how to deal with units that excel in assault while using orks. I feel that this army could successfully do that having some screening units to give my important orks the charge, and having some deffkoptas to wreak havoc for and tie up units while the tide advances.

really from what i've gathered from others, it's not so much of the units you use, it's just getting units on the charge, and having screening units to ensure that.

i use essentially the same army but mine is 1250pts minus 3 lootas, minus the deffcoptas, and added a warboss.

i dont think it costs 240pts for 20 Shoota Boyz- Big Shootas- Nob, Pk, BP
i would make sure you diversify your nobs for optimum cheapness

As an option... try having one of the Kan groups equiped with Grotzookas to soften up your opponent and to force more saves on his behalf.... cant save em all

Also you can skim a few points by droping one grot and in doing so you'll also not require the 2nd Runtherd

By saving the points there with the gretchin and switching to grotzookas on 1 kan unit you can get a trukk for your Nobz so they can get in the fight faster to tie up the enemy long enough to get your tide into position.

Just a few thoughts! Enjoy your Waaagh!

Drop the big meks in the loota squad, total waste of points. Convert them into more lootas.

Split the deffkoptas into two units. No break checks and they can hit two different units and require two units firing on them to be taken out. Don't worry about KP's, you have very few, one more won't hurt too much.

Split the Grots into two units. You know have two mobile screening units or objective grabbers which makes it both easier to get the screen out of the way and they are more likely to die in combat, allowing you to shoot and assault the enemy charging unit.

Other than that, nice list. Kan Walls are good fun.

Personally, I don't leave home with less than 90 Boyz in a Kanwall list.

While Lootas and such are good choices, I feel their points are better spent in beefing up the green tide in a list such as this. Remember, if your Lootas are sitting behind your line of Kans and Boyz, you're giving your opponent a 4+ cover save against your own shooting.

Rokkits in your mobs rather than big shootas will give the Boyz a chance at cracking transports to get at the sweet tender bits inside in the assault phase. Also, if you break out your Mathhammer, they offer a slightly better kill percentage.

I mod'd it to what everyone suggested, or what I liked out of the suggestions anyways. A great point about the gretchen running off scared, 2 squads will be much easier to handle, and a trukk will hopefully get the boyz where they want to be faster. i went up to 3 deffkoptas, you can't have to much to distract the enemy with in my opinion, between the three deffkoptas and kommandos taking my oponent from the other side, they will ease my advance. Also they will hopefully destroy a few vehicles or tie up some units along the way.

oh and I know the rokkit launchas are usually prefered ove the KMB, but I had to do without the rokkit launcha for points.

Not enough boyz for a kan wall list.

What should I take away from for more boyz then?

I would drop the Deffcoptas. I used to use them in every game I played. They would do nothing and get killed.
