Yep. Sure did

I usually sculpt several figures at a time, for basically the same reason you'd paint several figures; while you wait for the paint/green stuff to dry on one, you work on another.

For whatever reason female space marines seems to be a controversial subject among40k players.

If you feel the need to rant and argue for or against female space marines, please go elsewhere to have your debate; I do not want this post to deteriorate into a pointless discussion

I am well aware of why female marines aren't possible according to the fluff. I started this project as an exercise in design and to practice my sculpting. I chose the subject matter because it seemed both challenging and intriguing to me personally.

Besides, I've been promising my friend that I'd sculpt a unit of female marines for years now

So much for my preamble, here my work in progress so far.

Along with the narrower shoulder width and the higher waistline, they have noticeably feminine breasts on their chest armor to accentuate the female form. They are exaggerated on purpose to make them visually easier to distinguish from the male marines. While it's arguable whether it has any practical merit or not, from a character design standpoint, it doesn't make much sense to me to design a female character in a sci-fi fantasy setting if they are going to look just like their male counterparts.

If you think sculpted breasts on chest plates are ridiculous, I'd like to point out that the Blood Angels' Sanguinary Guards has sculpted pecs and decorative nipples on their breastplate

I have a few clean up to do before I begin casting. I plan on completing a combat squad of female space marines using these. Though I doubt I'll ever actually use them for gaming.

I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoyed working on them.

You sir, or madame have mad sculpting skills! Nice work. I do remember many years ago that GW experimented with metal minis of female marines but dropped that idea.

This is good work. very nice.

I like them. Nice and subtle curves. And they look exactly like marine at the same time. I wouldn't mind about the fluff, when you can do these. I think I see a shark on one of the shoulderpads is there more detailing to come?

You should get in contact with Chapterhouse, they may be interested in something like this, even if just the faces. Look rad!

Agreed. I think up until know the problem with female marine models has been the believability of them. These sculpts change that I think.

Definitely get in touch with Chapterhouse, if the guys over there think the project has legs and if there are no infringements i'm sure they'll help you out.

Hips look a tad narrow but otherwise the proportions look pretty good.
Would like to see you try some other poses than the marine on a surf board/horse posture. (Leave that to GW to do )

Apart from that would echo everyones' comments and look forward to seeing more!

Thanks for all the kind compliments!

Wazzdig Dagga,
The pad with the shark was from another post. I still have some more detailing to do but the basic figure is done. I'll add on the aquila and other decorations once I cast a few of the base bodies for variety.

Capt. Rex,
Maybe if I actually figure out how to get them cast

Viktor von Domm,
Sorry, they are not true scale. I actually had to scale them down and change the proportions to make them fit the GW 28mm scale, since they were initially too big. I'll be painting them myself as well but it'll be my friends painted pics that I'll be posting since he's a better painter than me

Mikalichov
Nope, I'm going with the Exorcists instead of the Sharks. Thanks, but I'm not a pro yet

Chibi Bodge-Battle
I prefer my muscular women with narrow hips and I love the surfboard pose; it's so GW! I'll try to do a more dynamic pose next time for my Eldar.

whalemusic360, Lennysmash and Chapterhouse,
I shot an email to Chapterhouse. I'm looking forward to talking to them.

Thanks again everyone for your interest. I'll try to keep busy and post often.

Cheers!

Here's a pic of my wireframe. Behind it you can see two of my earlier sculpting work.

See if you can recognize who the characters are supposed to be

They were done using some epoxy resin that was dried harder and finer than green stuff. It was over a decade ago and I have no idea what the stuff was called anymore and haven't been able to find it since

Oh, how I wish we could swap hands! Your greenstuff work is truly amazing. Keep up the great work!

I have had the damnedest time with modeling proportional breasts (and, for that matter, whole female torsos, I suppose) on my Sister Bikers. Do you have any suggestions? All I get are a pair of unhealthy blobs, whereas yours just seem to be, well, breasts!

A little suggestion: if you sculpt the body, don't use SM arm, the proportion don't fit very well. anyway, this is my impression.

I do think sculpted breasts on chest plates are ridiculous. That said, I think you are the first person I've ever seen make them look not-ridiculous.

You've really done a fabulous job. Most female space marines end up looking like they've stapled a pair of rocket nose cones to the outside of the armour. You are the first person I've ever seen sculpt their chest plates to fit the proportions of the person inside (even if that's not technically nessecary), rather than trying to make them look like bizarrely-proportioned 3+ save spandex. Well done. Your models look feminine without looking like pin-ups or cosplaying cheerleaders, another balance that it seems a lot of sculptors struggle to achieve. I like your models using normal power-armour arms because it further accentuates the smaller frame of the person inside.

I don't play space marines, but I think your bits that you've sculpted yourself really do deserve to be cast and sold. This kind of quality deserves to make a profit.

Beautiful sculpts no doubt!

However, I don't believe a female space marine would look very female at all with all the muscles she probably would have. That is partly because you gotta have a lot of testosterone to effectively build muscles and that will slow the female forms. Just google "female bodybuilders" and bear in in mind that breast implants is quite common amongst these ladies. So in that sense I believe that female marines would look just like their male counterparts except for their faces, and I don't believe they would bother to accentuate their femininity with surgery, it would be impractical to mention one reason and space marines are killing machines first and foremost.

That said, you don't have to be realistic about everything, they are beautiful sculpts anyhow!

Always outnumbered, never outgunned.
