Chapter Aspects:
The Iron Brotherhood are a bloody close quarters specialist chapter, and consider themselves the ‘war enders’. They see Codex Astratus as a dated scripture, put to better use by emperor botherers rather than warriors. As a chapter, competition to lead the next assault is high, but never allowed to degenerate into discord.
Before a battle, each individual takes an oath, these vary from holding ground no matter the cost, too shedding the blood of heretics by the dozen. Once an oath is taken, a battle brother goes too extreme lengths to fulfil it, for a failure to themselves, is as bad as a failure to the chapter.
They work very closely with the Mehanicus of Mars, seeking out any relics they might find use for. As a result of their bloody combat style, and the relationship with Mars, they have a very high number of Dreadnoughts. These are revered by even the Grand Master Valette, for it is the greatest honour that can be given to a brother.
Homeworld:
Kolvak IV used to be a city world, every inch covered with a thriving merchant city. In M39.488 it was invaded by the Iron warriors. The resistance was futile; the small occupying force of battle brothers took heavy losses to the long range artillery deployed by these most heinous heretics. The Fortress Monestary was the last bastion of hope. Located high in the mountainous north, they were naturally protected by conventional assaults. The flakk batteries swatting any fighters down with ease. Using arcane technology from the Dark Mechanicus, the Iron warriors tunnelled under the mountains, and burst though the floors of the holy Monestary itself. The battle was great, many brothers fell, but the Iron warriors were defeated. But the planet was scorched by the Iron Warriors fleets in revenge. The planet is now a dead world, the destroyed cities empty of all life. The monestary was re-built in M39.490, but the planet was left silent. The ground itself was devoid of all life. Now the planet is solely used for training and weapon testing. The Mechanicus built a forge on the world. They extract adamantium from the dead earth. This is the reason Dreadnoughts are so revered. They are still protected by Kolvak IV, shielded from the weapons of Heretics and Xenos by their home world itself.
Organisation:
Each squad is dedicated to their own oaths, fulfilling these no matter the cost. As a result, expected casualties are high. Each squad is usually led by a Bro Sergeant. These brothers have proven themselves time and again. Promotion too Bro Sergeant is rare. They are individuals who have proven themselves above and beyond their peers. There is also a heavy presence of Apothecarys. Each squad is accompanied by these holy warriors, who a charged with collecting the geneseed from their fallen brethren.
The Chapter is split into clans, much alike the Iron hands. Each clan is led by a Master. These are the foremost spiritual leaders in the chapter. Each Master leads the assault on enemy positions, accompanied by a chosen squad, whom have proven themselves in previous battles. These Masters are only answerable too Grand Master Vellete.
