Okay I have probably over 50 pics to show you all. I will put up an example pic and then follow it with a spoiler box that has additional pics. Let me know what you all think of her! After I upload the pics I will go back and add in a few comments as well. I am also posting some shots of the termagants as soon as I upload them.

First her Majesty:

I went with blue highlights. Black with grey to white just looked to plain to me. I found some alien queen pictures on the net and there was a lot of them with blue highlights. I hope you all like the color too. I admit, I spent more time painting her than other stuff in this thread.

Spoiler:

The Diorama:

Made from plastic bottles, super glue, resin, greenstuff, apoxie sculpt, garage sale signs, pepsi cola signs, blood, a water hose, sweat, pva glue, and tears.

Group 1

Group 3

The Bugs:

I got a little lazy painting these after painting the queen and making the diorama. I promise I will go back and paint them better.

You weren't lying when you say lots of pics. That looks awesome though I'm not much of an alien fan.

Very cool. Reminds me of the classic "alienids" that some guy made back in the day.

You must have had your fandom tainted by those horrid Alien vs. Predator movies. Hopefully Ridley Scott and H. R. Giger will change your mind this June with Prometheus.

Oh yes. Necros was his name. I think he posts on dakka from time to time. He was the main source for my inspiration, that and the movies.

UnCool Villain wrote:Wow! That must have been a ton of work. Great job

It sure was. If you look at my post count for last month you will see that it was rather low. I spent about a month on her and the diorama.

That is always a good compliment!

My wife told me the same thing, but then I showed her some screenshots of an Alien Queen. They really made her have some rather large and wide legs. I guess it has something to do with the egg layer thing.

Amazing work. The sculpting and painting are excellent. The blue highlights definitely make everything pop the way it should. I've got a soft spot for the Alien series and you did a superb job getting the look right.

You think they look better in person? The pics didn't come out as good as I hoped. I am thinking about retaking a few shots with a better background and lighting.

Thanks for the comments. You have to have a soft spot to really understand the paint scheme etc don't you? If these were basic nids I would have painted them a lot different, but Aliens have a certain look.

RiTides wrote:Eeeeewwww....

Yeah it is kind of creepy...

I plan on making a whole table worth of dioramas to use as a game board. If you have an ideas abotu how to position the already made piece let me know folks. Middle? On the side? I plan on making a elevator behind it. Hopefully it will actually move so people can use it to move troops.

zilegil wrote:I see you got that painted then. Staying true to your alien aestetic. Brilliant stuff.

I am trying my best. A lot of people didn't like the gloss, but it was needed for the alien aestetic. I am working on converting a Hive Tyrant to a winged King Alien. I plan on sticking to the alien aestetic for the whole army.

cricketofdeth wrote:Dude, this is awesome.

No I didn't, but I would have if I had the cash. The head came from an old 1989 55mm warrior alien. The teeth looked bad and so the front and back part of the skull. I used teeth from a guant head and greenstuff to smooth out the forehead and back of the head. I cast the heads using resin and instant mold fromt he original. I have 20 more finished that need a better paintjob and 30 more guants in the box. I haven't made their heads because I am out of resin,

Good work! I think that you show promise in making dioramas, and look forward to seeing more from you in the future. I like that you worked your 'for game' models into the diorama smoothly. I didn't notice the queen's base at first at all!

Damn that's awesome, makes me want to go watch the movie "aliens" again, GREAT JOB!!

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

Ugh...I think I am done with that movie for awhile. I believe I watched it 50 times in Decemeber while I was working on this thing...

Nah...I think I will watch it today.

It was my first one and I admit I rushed it by spray painting most of it. Keep checking on my threads. I am currently working on a lava based diorama for my firehawks marines.

You bet, I think over half the model is greenstuff...lol

happygolucky wrote:Sub'd AWESOME tell me did you make the heads on the gaunts? if you didn't where did you get them?

The mid part of the head was made from an 1989 55 mm alien warrior model. I copied it with the instant mold and resin. I used the mouth from the guant himself and sculpted the forehead and back part the head.

I love these, and I love Alien. But look at my name, then understand that I think they are truly epic, because nothing besides something epic could make me say nids are epic.

I'm assuming they are nids, right?
