Hello all,
On the eve of hearing about rumors stating that allies are confirmed I decided I should get my tournament batreps up from a couple days ago.

The rules of the teams tournament was 1500pts a side, with 250pt leeway in which the other army could sacrifice points to their ally. Our grand strategy was to take Imotekh and C'tan to force dangerous terrain and night fighting while I load heavy with BSF Broadsides and suits. This way we can hopefully kill every long range threat without taken much return fire. Also to help this he ran wraiths and a small scarab farm in which to run a screen against assaults.

Game One
Game one was against a Ork, Chaos opponent. Unfortunately while this shows some of the strengths of the list it was not the best of battles since the Ork player was relatively new.

Game Two
Our second opponent was Ultramarines and Black Templars. This game went very smoothly and our strategy made a very costly party of his list (double las tems) pretty much worthless all game. This game seemed a little closer after a surprise visit in turn 2 that knocked out a bit of troops, fortunately we had already planned damage control to stop any bleeding.

Game Three
Game three would probably be one of the hardest fights yet. Blood Angels was running a lot of death company, mainly dreads and a winged dread with force weapons. Fortunately the Tau player did not take and BSFs and this allowed us to maintain our advantage. But he did run 4 tetras which was scary kink in the plan. First target as long as there was night fighting was to take those guys down and prevent his hammerheads from delivering their shots on target. Things were pretty even for a couple turns but the advantage grew for us as the game progressed until the last two terms when they accepted we had won the field and positioned themselves to grab objectives on last turn.

Notes
-Tetras and Commander R'alai are probably the best units Tau have for their costs, i cannot stress that enough.
-Forcing Night Fighting with a way to get around it easily is quite possibly one of the better strategies since no one seems to counter Night Fighting when hey build their list.
-Scarab Farms are still stupid strong
-We never got to go first, even with Imotekh's 4+ steal.
-Running a near vehicle free list with lots of AV support still works. It seems to throw people off-guard because most people now tailor their lists to knock out vehicles.
-There were 19 teams at the tournament, 4 GK players (all lost first round, meaning we never fought one).

Overall the tournament was pretty fun, but it seemed that the list combo was too strong. Now imagine if these allies rumors are true and this type of list becomes a normal table top addition every Necron and Tau player will use!

The Twilight Zone

This gives me goosebumps, in the best of ways. I absolutely love the idea, the list and the report.

That strategy is absolutely brutal. I think I might get a R'alai and some tetras myself so long as 6th is good.

Great job!

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Nice reports, entertaining stuff. Looks like the Tau/Necron combo worked very well.
One thing to note though, Anrakyrs ability cannot be used while he is in the barge, it was clarified through the FAQ. I would use him if he could :(

That's good to know for the future.

Good batreps, still watching the videos.

The Tetras are conversions, yes? I'de be interested in knowing how you made them, if they are. c:

They were temporary. I simply removed the wings from Pirahnas and mounted 2 pulse rifles in the nose where the fusion blaster would be. I ordered all the models from FW like 3 weeks before the tourny, but they never made it in time. In fact, they still aren't here
