Hey guys..

Finally complete my first warhammer squad. It was a long journey to find the right colors - but I think i've found a balance. I think these are a decent tabletop quality. Yes those are mold lines =) It was too late once I realized they were there.

I hope you guys enjoy.

Don't mind the light, was having camera issues.

The zenithal is hard to capture when photographing these.

Comments please =D

Seriously, love the paint job on these guys. The power weapons kinda looked liked they were glowing, not to mention the stunning eyes.

Lovely purple, very clean. My only complaint is that the bases are so boring. Giving them something a little more fitting would definitely make them pop.

Hey guys!

Thanks for the great comments I wasn't expecting this

I agree the bases are boring but I figured there was already too much going on with the models that I thought too much on the base would ruin it. I wanted to do chunky rocks and I still may or get some resin or put snow on these ones.

Any suggestions?
Thanks again guys,
I'm going to paint a dreadknight next

Well, you want something that would work with that lovely purple. Snow would work. That, or some kind of flora.

I think these look great. Improvements would be the detail, ie eyes, metalic cables on the back of their hoods and extreme hightlight on the edge of the purple armour plates.

An interesting scheme for GKs! Perhaps they are a tiny weeny bit chaotic?

Either way amazing job! Have a cookie!

Just some leafy green, possibly tropical/swamp looking plants.

Hey guys! Thanks for the comments! I appreciate it.

I may get some snow and doctor up a base and see how it looks, unless someone can suggest where to get leafiness? Lol!

As these were my first attempts at zenithal highlighting other than a few test models, I agree they could have been more aggressively highlighted. Ill attempt it with my dread knight.

TBH i think the eyes could be a little bit lighter... but other then that im loving the paintjob! the bases are a bit plain if you ask me but IDK what you are going for or if you had to match an already excising theme... Im loving the weapons

Hey thanks!

Yeah the bases are boring. I am going to order some silflor grass tufts. I think I'm going to go with dead yellowing grass, almost a brown.

Interesting soul drinker knights.

You need to highlite the purple, I see absolutely no highlites anywhere.
Also use brown colours instead of metallic gold on the letters, it will look way better.

Hey

This was a trial at Zenithal lighting, you can really see it in the last picture. The shadows you see on the model aren't from light from where I staged them to take the photos, that's the paint. It's difficult to really notice unless I person, I think hard line highlighting would take away from these, don't you think?

And thanks again for the comments! I really wasn't going for a chaos look haha the GK would never turn!

Yeah, it looks nice (the zenithal that is). If you want to make it look more like metal you need some hardline highlites (very bright) on the edges of out sticking things such as knee edges and surfaces that are directly facing upwards.

Your first squad and only "think" they are tabletop quality?
Have you seen the trash some people bring in? I've seen black templars that received a chaos black spray, white over the shoulder pads and called em complete.

These are very nice quality even for someone who's been doing this for years and I hope your proud of them, the power weapons in particular are fantastic and even more too you for being brave and taking your own colour scheme and making it work in whats usually a very predictable army.

Thanks guys I really appreciate it. I'm ordering some little grass stuff from silflor, spice up the bases a bit. I wanted to do something different with the color scheme, they aren't meant to be chaos, but rather just a unique or forgotten brotherhood of knights.

These models honestly took about 40 or more hours just based on sheer testing colors, paints, asking for opinions here on dakka which I greatly appreciate. So thanks guys, I am proud of these.

To the table top comment: I have seen a lot of very talented painters on here who can paint smoother paint than my airbrush, with a hand brush and I envy them. Those of you who can paint nice details, I also envy you.

I've purchased some more models to paint and I'm doing a DK next, things are smooth now that I know my colors. I'm a scale guy as I said, I'm used to grey and more grey colors if anyone needs help building a viper or a mudhen let me know lol.

Again, thanks for all the comments and critiques

Wow! Thanks for all the support and comments. I ordered some bases from a company with round lips on them. I got them for the entire army about 40x25mm, 16x40mm and two big 120mm ones for my big dreadknights. They aren't grass or anything like that but I think they will look good!

I decided to get Cadian Shock Troops for my henchmen, I ordered a bunch of FW parts to make them look somewhat inquisitorial.. They will have the adverse environment helmets and such.

The purple I used here is Vallejo Model Purple and Vallejo Model blue violet
