Im hand doing math but this comes to 1677. Im not really sure what to do with the 330+ points. I have bikes termis to round out the points and im looking at an aegis defence line to put everything behind. So help dakka! Where do I go from here! Drop three helbrutes they're garbage. Use those points to replace the csm units with plague marines with two plasma our melta guns inside rhinos. Then take a lord with the mark of nurgle to make them troops.

Eh, I've always liked my normal marines, I'm an iron warrior =) I do like the plague marines but I just don't fall into papa nurgle's court just yet (when I have played with plagues they've done some incredible things though) helbrutes are just armor saturation to make them shoot at other things and the plasma missile is cheaper than a havoc squad
Also, the warpsmith mixed with an aegis two vindis and flying dinobots is pretty nasty or at least I hope so! plus, he has a plasma cannon as well so he's a scarey scarey thing too.

Reread your codex before making such bold statements. He can only take from the ranged weapons, chaos rewards (except steeds) and/or chaos artefacts.

@Gharron: There is no plasmacannon in the armoury. Only plasma pistols and combiplasmas.

I would highly suggest some fast ground units if possible. Bikes/spawn/raptors to get in and take out anything you can't get from range. I might also swap the vindicators to predators with lascannon sponsons. Sure its not S10 large blast but they can drop any termi's, armor, or other undesirables and they are >24" range.

If you are dead set on "normal"marines, maybe take Abadon, and make the CSM into Chosen? You can those buggers to the teeth with special weapons. Anyone with the brass to get within rapid fire will quickly find themselves with smoldering piles for troops. Drop the helbrutes and use the points to give abadon a posse to roll with.

Take Plague Marines and call them mechanically augmented IW, take the Nurgle Lord and call him a augmented Warsmith. Forge a narrative doesn't mean you can't be competitive, want to take this list to tourney that's my advice for friendly games leave it. I had a friend do this with his IW in 5th at lots of tournaments and nobody had a problem with it.

Someone else made a sick iron warrior army and played them as plague marines.

Honestly, if I did iron warriors I would double force organization chart the heavy support. been thinking about running 6 squads of havocs with 4 ac each. thats 24 ac pumping out 48 shots.

all for 690pts.

Most of the tourneys here won't allow double force or charts :(
I do like the idea of raptors though. I'm thinking maybe raptors and bikes?

I think bikes fit fluff wise. However somebody will argue with you that fast attack slots are reserved for heldrakes.

I use to think that defilers and vindicators were the bread & butter of iron warriors.

Now gw is trying to push drakes& fiends down my throat.

I'm looking at bikes raptors held rakes oblits forgefiends and vindis.
I think that the warpsmith restoring hull points on 2 vindis with bikes heldrakes and oblits hitting their line plus the huge template from the vindicators should put a dent in most forces. I'm just afraid my body count is to low. I wish I could dig trenches and play like a real iron warrior :(

Heldrakes are cool and all, but I find it far more rewarding winning without running them. I tend to fill my FA slots with a squad of beasts and 2 decent squads of raptors and they work just fine. Throw some CSM in rhino's and run them up behind the FA. Your enemy should be too concerned with the large blobs that just cut the board in half. if you want to be really dastardly, take Huron, and and use the warlord trait to but them smack dab in the middle of the board. As you move them forward say things like "Is it nice, my precious? Is it juicy? Gooey? Yucky? Is it....scrumptious?" in your best smeagol voice. Of course that isn't usually a good thing in a tournament, but in a friendly atmosphere it will screw with your friends.

Can warp smith take a bike or jump pack?
Spawns goes against the fluff of iron warrior unless you make them mechanical spawns.

I'm going to start getting into tourneys with this list, we have a 1999+1 tourney coming up in about two weeks but I'm pretty sure that the only thing I've been able to gather so far from the research I've done is "buy more heldrakes and then worship poppa nurgle" lol
