In May of 2012, I had started on a journey to complete an army to specifically enter it into Games Workshop’s Annual Armies on Parade competition. The goal was simple. I choose a theme that has a good cause and then I painted the army in the colors of the Cause/ Charity. I completed the army with the best intent so that when people asked about why I painted in the way that I have, I will tell them and they will pass on that knowledge, so on and so forth. I completed that goal this year at the Cottman Ave Games Workshop in Philadelphia Pa as the army won in the stores competition in June 29, 2013.

Now I am here again with the same goal, and a new army. I have chosen the Orks as my next army for the 2014 Armies on Parade Competition. This was a tough decision to find an army that will be about to handle the color theme of what I am going to do. I will also be able to convert some interesting tanks and other mad scientist creations for this year.

The theme of this year’s army will be Autism Awareness. For those who do not know the theme for Autism Awareness, it is a puzzle pieces. I do not know anyone who suffers from this but I choose this will all good intent. If for some reason this blog offends, I wish to know and I will stop it dead in its tracks.

For those who were subscribers I welcome you all back and hope that you enjoyed this as much as you had the Sisters.

For those who are new I welcome you all and hope to hear from you.

Please do not forget posting opinions and questions are encouraged. I will answer as much as I am able.

As a reminder, be courteous to the others in the blog. Slap fights are not allow…. Much.

Just to also let everybody know before the question arises like in the sisters blog, what you see in the picture up top are the models I have built a while ago for a regular army list. I will be using most but not all of them for the project at hand. yes! there will be conversions and battle board worthy of the project as will as painting and modeling tips. I will try to stick with the step-by-step format as the prior project.

Subbed.....

Sorry did not catch your Sister's, going to check them out now.

Going to follow this closely for 2 reasons:

1) Love Orksess.
2) Got 2 sons with Autism. Way to go sir. Brilliant idea. And Orks are a VERY fitting army, perfect.

Good luck.

Update:

Today I started the first which are the Nobz.

I cleaned the models yesterday to make it easier to base and prime the models. I am using the eavy' metal paint scheme for all of the Orkz are the army. I do not get some of the options that I had with the skin tone.... Orkz are green. It is that simple. The why I am going to have to varie each of the Orkz are to add little things like Tattoos and warpaint.

I am starting only doing the base coat today which is Knarloc Green. I am going to work more a bit later but I will keep you all up to date.

To the subscribers so far I want to thank you for joining this project and I hope that you all will enjoy this blog through to its climax. Blood and lips, that mean you guys

Camkierhi and Alabamaheretic I wanted to thank you both for confiding your stories regarding autism. I will admit that I personally do not have family or friends with this disorder but I am not ignorant of those who live with it every day. I want to thank you guys for your Perseverance and strength.

Ok guys the first of the Nobs are complete. I believe that I have some explaining to do about the paint scheme.

I will start with some theme. Since I am using Ghazghkull Thraka as my army general I have decided to make the Nobz veterans of the second war for Armageddon. I painted his armor and weapons as Ultramarine's armor since.. Well... That is what it is piece-mealed armor is made of.

I am doing something that I did not do in my other blog and that is battle damaged the armor. I have seen some of the GW painting tutiorals as of late ans noticed that their Ork armor is in Pristine condition, as if right off the factory floor.... Yah right! Orks have scratches, cuts, and holes. That is how it will make them. Each Nob will be slightly different due to the three chapters that were fighting; Ultramarines, Salamanders, and the Blood Angels.

To bring the full cause of the Waaaaggggg, I came placing the Autism Awareness Puzzle pattern to all of the Orks.

I hope to hear what to guys think of this twist in the Ork army.

Quick side note:

Due to the amount of the models, I will be cutting the size of the unit by half so that I will be able to fit them on the battle board that I plan to make. I will post the concept plans up later for those who are curious. The conversions will not have concept art due to the fact that I create them in my mad scientist moments... On the fly as you would say.

With the completion of the tester nob and the positive feedback of the model as a whole, I have started on the rest of the nod group. I will be working on them three at a time if possible.

Thought:

Since I am adding battle damage to the Orks I am in a little debate on adding blood splatter and gore. It may be a bit over the top and take something away from the army.

personally i dont thinky ou should add the splatter maybe chipping and weathering but not gore splatter i think it would take away from the models just my two cents.

I see nothing wrong with some dried blood on the weapons / armor or maybe some fresh blood. Gore is a bit unnecessary, IMHO blood is enough to give that extra "je ne sais quoi" to a miniature.

the only problem i would have with the dried blood is it might be over the top with the puzzle piece motif maybe if it was on the weapons and that is it. it might be ok...but i do think a test model should be in order to make sure

ogryn flesh: like beer goggles for miniatures.
