The Battle of Empok Nor
With the Dominion War raging throughout the Alpha Quadrant, one must remember the 34th Rule of Acquisition; “War is good for business”. A group of Ferengi Privateers under the command of Daimon Tog have established a most profitable business of gathering valuble scrap. As Dominion and Allied fleets battle it out, the quadrant is littered with abandoned and derelict ships that can be salvaged and sold to the highest bidder. The Ferengi have taken over an abandoned Cardassian Station, Empok Nor. The previous inhabitants have disabled the stations weapons systems, but it is still a perfect base of operation. Tog uses the old station to store scrap, do business with unaffiliated powers, and repair his ships.
Previously Dominion forces have been ordered not to engage any ships related to the neutral Ferengi Alliance, in hopes of luring them into the Dominion. However after the fall of DS9 to the allies situations have changed. The safety of the Founder comes before all else. The Vorta had decided that Empok Nor would prove a strategic asset to protect the Cadassian system. A small Dominion fleet has been sent to chase the Ferengi off and guard the station until tug vessels arrive to take it back to Cardassia.

Set up
Turn 1
Everyone moves up, all out of range, nothing happens.
Turn 2
Krayton and Marauder on left move in on Gor Prtos & Kraxon
Marauder on the right does not expect the Galor to go across the station.
The Gor Portas hits the Marauder on the right with an Energy Disapator, leaving the Ferengi defenseless. The Breen then hit the Marauder with photon torpedoes taking the ship out in one volley
and leaving Daimon Tog in a 2 on 1 fight.
Daimon Tog fires off Ferengi Missiles at the Kraxon, taking off two shields and putting a crit straight to the hull. (Ferengi Missile Launcher grits bypass shields)
Turn3
The Krayton hits the Gor Portas with a Ferengi
EM pulse (puts and auxillery power token on the ship plus -2 attacks). Everyone whiffs in shooting!
Turn 4
The Kraxon loses its last shield colliding with the center of the station, but inflicts one damage on the remaining Marauder. The Marauder takes a shield off of the Gor Portas.
Turn 5
Marauder hits the Gor Portas with a Ferengi
EM pulse. Bad luck for the Portas, they reveal a 3 come about (red maneuver)
, so after having an auxillery power token form the
EM pulse the Ferengi choose their move. Ferengi choose a white 3 and leaves the breen in the sites of the Marauder.
Tog on the Krayton whiffs on the Galor, and take 1 damage in return. The Kraxon puts a whopping 3 damage on the remaining Marauder. However it is still in the fight and hits the Gor Portas with its Ferengi Missile Launcher taking off one shield and doing 2 crits to the hull.
Turn 6
Kraxon has a chance to take out the Marauder but whiff. The Marauder in return whiffs on the Gor Portas
Nothing else happens this turn.
Turn 7
The Marauder bumps the Gor Portas loosing its action. The Kraxon fires and destroys the Marauder leaving the Krayton all alone.
Daimon Tog decides that the Krayton is no match for 3 Dominion ships and retreats.
Game over, Dominion wins, all that profit is lost
Well we were hopping for a better showing for my first attempt at a Ferengi fleet. Not taking out a single ship, very shameful. Oh well, try, try again. Though my wife was very please with the Dominion, her first non-Federation game.
The missile launchers and
EM pulses are impressive, but the fact that you have to disable them to use kinda sucks. Plus the
EM Pules only works on a ship that is NOT in your forward arc, so you have to think about the set up. It seems that the Ferengi are good at annoying people but lack the punch to take out other ships. Though I will try again, maybe drop some upgrades and squeeze in some better captains, for shooting first. I also think splitting up was a bad idea. In the future the plan will be to focus on one enemy ship. Use one Marauder to
EM Pulse the takget and the other Marauder & Krayton to shoot at it. In all I think the Marauder is a good ship for 20 points and I love the idea of an all Ferengi fleet so this is just the beginning for them.
