If you are following the progress of my Warhamster army in the "Showcase", this post briefly covers their first time out and about, running amok at my first tournament in a decade!

It was a three round tournament and the showing of opponents was quite "light". That suited me fine as I am still learning the new rule set (40k) and mastering the special rules for my hamsters (I have based them on Space Wolves, specifically the 13th Company).
The first game was against a Tyranid "swarm" Army and I did quite poorly, my 25 model count Army Vs at least 150 models. My opponents army was unpainted, some models were even unassembled and he even "proxied" blank bases for quite a few models. I didn't feel it was my place to complain, so I tried to go with the flow. I had a distinct feeling that my opponent was playing on my current unfamiliarity with not only the rules and my special rules, but his special rules as well. So no pictures for this engagement. I managed to keep my Grey Hunters on the table to the bitter end, but I lost everything else. I managed to secure an objective, but that was my only victory point.

My second game was against Chaos Marines (Slaanesh), It was a good game! I had a very good opponent with a decently painted army. The only thing better than the sportsmanship of my opponent was the grace in which he took his incredibly bad dice rolling for the first three turns! The best moment in the game was when my opponent "deepstriked" (deep-srtuck?) his assault marines against my "Badger Guard" They were a basic 5 man Termy squad with an Assault cannon. It was a very dramatic fight and featured some impressive rolls on both sides.

In the end, The badgers fell back and their numbers dwindled quickly...

I lost that melee, but won the battle. It was a good day to die!

My Third opponent used Space Marines (I'm not familiar with the new codex, but I believed he used them as "Iron Fists"?). I was a little more confident with my army by this time and I had a better handle on my special rules. I was very intimidated at the large number of troops I faced, but I had initiative on the first turn and the "dice gods" smiled on me! With the end of my first turn I had destroyed his Vindicator with a well placed Lascannon shot, destroyed his dreadnought and killed about 8 Space Marines with "Jaws of the World Wolf" (it was also the last time I would be able to cast anything with my Runepriest). The rest of the game went equally as well and my opponent never really rallied from his initial losses.
Once again, I had a very good opponent and he was an absolute joy to play against, despite the way the game was progressing.
The highlight of the game is when Bran Redhamster "went fluffy" and turned into "Boo, the giant space hamster" (Bran Redmaw is a special character for the space Wolves that may, at some point during the game, turn into a giant werewolf.) He, with the aid of his Grey Hunters took down a 6 man Terminator squad and the Commander! (It was really all "Boo", the Grey Hunters didn't cause a scratch...)

The Commander challenged "Boo"...

It did not end well for him...

This last game featured the "Sacred Relic" and Logan Ham-star (Grimnar), was able to scoop it up and hang onto it...

You can see the fractured and scattered remnants of my opponents army in the background.

I finished second place, with my Tyranid opponent taking first place. I raked in a pile of swag as well as a first place ribbon for my painting! My favorite "swag-able" was this...

All in all not a bad day, and not a too terrible showing for my Warhamsters!

Cool report and that watch is AWESOME! Where can that be found?

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.
