The trygon prime seems like quite the points sink - does it perform well for you? Also, your troops are a bit light, maybe more bodies could be helpful there.

It has actually. I am a bad roller when it comes to reserves so it usually comes in turn 3 or 4 but that is perfect since it usually dominates whatever is left (with its 6 S7 I7 AP2 CC hits) and there is usually not much that can kill it by then. I have thought about getting rid of the regen on the trygon since I don't usually loose 6 W by the end of the game.
As for the troops they usually stay hidden for objective games and grab the objectives out of the way. and since they are not that big of a threat and only 2 my opponent usually ignores them until turn 4 when it is time to assets the board on how too win. More Troops would be a bigger target and may remind my opponent about them. Or it could draw there fire away from my flyrants. When my LGS starts playing with formations I will be bringing more troops or rather scoring units to the table with the skyblight swarm and that will give me 3 flyrantes and no trygon. I haven't done a list though.
How would you put more Troops in? by taking out the trygon maybe and adding in a tervigon with the reaper so it spits out troops every turn and still has a high S I5 CC I would probly take out a Zan to pay for the extra troops cost.

Dropping a squad of zoeys and losing regen on all your big bugs should get you about 270 points - enough for a troops Tervigon and some more bodies

If I do that would it be beneficial to drop the original termagants and replace them with hermagaunts with toxin sacs or give the termagaunts toxin sacs and more bodies or even the group of 30 toxin sacs?

I have some similar suggestions.
1) Regen is rarely worth the points. Those 30 points MAY get you back a wound or 2, but most good players will focus on completely killing off the MC before moving on to the next one. Instead, those 6 horms or 7 terms are guaranteed to absorb shots and keep your troop squads alive longer. Dropping all the regen will save you a ton of points to be spent on troops.
2) Your tyrants are playing a mixed role right now. Either give them wings and 2 TL devs with BL (the most popular build), or give them LW/ BS, a template weapon, and some tyrant guard to absorb wounds. I would highly recommend going the flyrant rout for this list, as you already have a harpy. If you stay will only 1 FMC, it will get shot out of the air very quickly. If you have 3, they will all survive longer to do more damage.
3) You really only need 2 Zoans in a brood. They are there for synapse and buffing the troops around them.
4) MORE TROOPS. You need a ton more troops to have a chance with nids. Nids win through bodies.
I would run something like this:
Tyrant (x2)
- 2 TL devs with BL, wings
2 Zoanthropes (x2)
2 Venomthropes
Harpy
- TL HVC
Trygon Prime
- Miasma Cannon
This list is 1145 points, leaving you 355 points for troops. You could run 3 squads of 20 terms for 240 points, or a squad of 30 and a tervigon at about 320 points. You need your troops to be able to hold objectives late game and to soak up fire. Personally, I would run 3 squads of 20 terms and a squad of 23 horms, putting you at exactly 1500 points.
Put the horms in front (within 6" of a venomthrope) to absorb fire and provide cover to the other troops. The terms walk up and hold objectives. Zoanthropes provide synapse, while the venomthropes provide shrouded. In the meantime, your tyrants and harpy fly around shooting everything dangerous, and your tyrgon prime pops up to shoot 12 S5 shots and a 2+ poison template.
This list gives you 83 bodies to hold objectives, 3 FMCs, shrouded and synapse to your whole swarm, and an MC to pop up turn 2 or 3 to cause damage.

Good suggestions Though I personally use a Winged assasain: Winged Tyrant, LW/ BS, Toxin (230) along with a Winged Dakka'rant. I don't know if it's "better", but I get good work out of it I'd reccomend some bugs for 10 more points for sure. I modeled mine with Brain Leeches as well. It shoots by pointing it's elbows. I got the idea from "Ghost in the shell". So I spend 255 on it, and 230 for the "standard"
For the original list I would keep 2 Zoey Broods, but trim 1 Zoey from each, and spend the 100 points on something else (Troops)

Pinecone, we seem to comment the same thing on every nid list.
I still don't understand your preference for the winged assassin. I've never gotten anything out of one. I run either a flyrant or a walking tyrant with LW/ BS, TS, DL, and 3 tyrant guard.

(I think you meant tyrant guard. Or at least I did.) I'll be honest; I wouldn't use him for super-competitive games. Good opponents will try to shoot him off the table quickly.
But for semi-competitive games or casual, I love running a tyrant and 2 or 3 tyrant guard. He forms a great synapse center, can absorb tons of fire (as he will usually be behind other troops and near venomthropes for a 3+ cover save at worst), and once he makes it to combat by turn 2 or 3 he can take out anything in his path.
While flyrants are easily the most competitive build, my meta isn't WAAC, and I get to run walkrants pretty often. They are perfect for swarm lists. Plus, I get a bit tired of running 2 flyrants.

To me it's cheaper than a Walker with Guard, I mostly use it as a reaction force. I pick off wounded MCs, or IC's that foolishly run between cover units, and as emergency Synapse.
Because it's kitted for CC it intimidates the few CC units still out there, and with Bone Sword, it can IK big bads, and strong characters in one round (with Luck ) Toxin lets me re-roll vs most targets, and that synergises with the "Insta-Kill!" effect of the Bone Sword. If I am crazy enough to pile into a Wraith Knight, he's the one worried, rather than me. Because she is AP 3, I only need to Smash vs Vehicles for the most part, and as built I still get two shots off before a charge (6 Brain Leech, 1 Template...I use Electro bugs mostly, sometimes Rending Beetles) Because I use it so conservatively, it usually lives all game. It's the terrifying Dakka'rant that attracts the Focus fire...
I know I'm not the only one to use one this way (builds may vary...) so it may be that your meta is not friendly to one.

Shoot you could use the "Tyrant Node" formation (dataslate 3) it comes with a Tyrant (must walk), 3 Guard, and a Veno Brood. It should run 350-450 depending on how you go. Though if I built it it would use a Heavy Strangle Cannon so it can do something while it walks...the special rule is +6" to Synapse. if you take Dominate(?) you get a real big bubble!

Oh, yeah i was thinking of tyrant guard. Sounds good to me, I'll give it a chance. Tbh I don't try plaing nids super-competitive. Firstly I think it would be very hard, secondly I love the idea of a swarm list and lastly I would ruin my game by my dice combined with my bad play so I don't even try to.
How about 3 guards with bonesword and lash whips plus adrenalin glands?

Thats a lot of points , it depends on your local meta. I would only expect to be shot at, so extra CC kit looks like a poor investment. If you think you'll see CC, then why not?
I'd likely build it kinda like this: Hive Tyrant, Stranglthorn, Boneswords 195?
Tyrant Guard, x3 150
Venothrope Brood, x2 ( for extra durability) 90
That runs around 435, as is...so putting even more points in looks like a bad choice to me. In a 1500 point game this gives you a boosted Synapse bubble for the midfield, and leaves you 1065 points to build the rest of your army...(if you play 1000 point games, you already have this list, and have them built ) 65 left over for upgrades, or extras.
Late entry: About the only upgrade I'd put on the Guards is Rending Claws, it's a cheap boost...

I usually do not upgrade the guard. They are there simply to take shots for the tyrant and die. I would save those points for more troops.
I usually run:
Tyrant with LW/ BS, TS, and Dissector Larvae
2 Guard
That runs 305 points, so it keeps it relatively cheap for what it can do. In 2k lists, I run 2 of these bad boys backed up by 80+ terms, venomthropes, and 2 tyrannofexes.
