Hi guys, So, with a Chapter Master and Captain on a bike, bike squads of at least 5 models can become troop squads, as per the mounted assault rule: 'If a detachment includes a Captain on a Space Marine bike, Bike Squads of at least five models may be taken as troops choices instead of fast attack in that detachment' Now, this is simple when talking about bikes. 5 bikes = troops. But what about attack bikes? Is it 3 bikes + attack bike = troops, or 4 bikes + attack bike = troops. The attack bike itself is, technically, one model, despite having 2 marines on it. Therefore 4 bikes + attack bike makes sense. However, in the combat squads rules, it implies that attack bikes are two models. 'Note that Bike Squads count as being at full strength when they have 8 Space Marine Bikers and one Attack Bike. If split into combat squads, one combat squad will have five Bikers, the other will have three and the Attack Bike' Here the inplication is that the 10 marines (split over 9 models) split into 2 squads of equal marines (and not equal models) and therefore the attack bike is equal to two models. As i'm writing this, I realise it comes down to how you interpret the word 'models' in the Mounter Assault rule. Do you take it literally, so 5 models = 5 models, or take it as figure of speech to imply how many marines there will be in the squad, 5 models = 5 marines (= 3 bikes and 1 attack bike). What's everyone think?
