In the south, along the edges of Nehekara, north of the Living City lies a forsaken kingdom. Where once stood a defiant people, a beacon of hope in a world that cannot know such things, now lies a city of slaves, living for the will of the conquerer. Their streets where ravaged, their temples desecrated, and in their places of worship are now totems of the great necromancer. This forskaen land is lead by the one known as King Kohtep, and his son, Prince Aphos. They are but figureheads, puppets holding the people over for the time when Nagash will return and claim his servants. The people live in ignorace, knowing only this life. They do not rember, the times that came before, never had a thought in their head that their could be more than Nagash.

But the king plots in secret, for he remembers. He has seen the Living City, the golden spires of the great Tomb Kings, and he has worshiped the great gods of Nehekhara. He has known life, as it was before this curse was layed apon these lands. So he works in the shadows, to break free of these mental chains.

I should note, this takes place in the same continuity as the Bloodborn. The idea came about with the new Unified Undead, which I've decided to turn my VC into. The VC half still uses the fluff from their pre-unified days (Though I still need to link it with this), but the TK have to start from scratch.

In the center of this forsaken city lies a towering pyramid made of gold and silver. Upon each tier of the pyramid, fused to the golden outer walls of this sacred construct, are the skulls of those who dared defy the will of Nagash. Peasants, Soldiers, Champions, even Kings, it mattered not who you where in life, all who attempted to defy his iron will where slain, their skulls put on display as a silent reminder of what happens when you fight back.
Inside this golden Necropolis rank upon rank of skeletal corpses line the walls, clad in shining armor, still holding the weapons they wielded in life, awaiting the moment their master would call them to do Nagash's work. At the very apex of this monument lies the throne room, its obsidian walls decorated in the spoils of war and banners showing two snakes coiled around an obsidian scepter, with a golden floor covered in the most exquisite masonry. At the very end of this hall stands a golden throne, decorated in lavish carvings, covered in images of grand serpents, upon which sits the mighty king Kohtep. On the right of this grand seat lies a throne of silver, much smaller in size than the kings throne, where the Tomb Prince would lie when not serving Nagash. On the left of the king would sit his Tomb Herald, upon a throne much like the Tomb Princes, molded out of the finest obsidian. Below this lies the servants chamber, a large nearly empty room where the corpses of the kings most loyal servants, such as Necrotects and Liche Priests, lie dormant

Long ago, when the Tomb Kings where still flesh and blood, their came a visitor to Kohteps lands. He said not from where he had come, nor where he was going. He stayed for but a night, and when asked where he was headed he simply said that he had business with one of the Nehekarian queens. He left at the break of dawn, his passing as uneventful as his arrival. Yet, in a few years time, this stranger would show his face again. His business was done, he said, and it was time for him to settle down. He joined Kohteps army, and was shown to posses an almost supernatural prowess with a blade. He rose in rank with ungodly speed, quickly becoming a member of the kings guard, as well as becoming a close personal friend of Kohtep over the years. No matter how much anyone prodded, he told none what exactly he had come for, only that it was of great importance. He became a bit of a local legend among the other soldiers, they called him "The Pale One", due (Obviously) to his unusually pale skin. Yet one day, seemingly without rhyme or reason, the man disappeared. He gave no warning, he simply left. The mans name, Kohtep (Who is the only one the man ever told his name) says, was Valdros.

Going to be turning all of existing named characters into ones fitting of a the Forsaken City, because no way in hell we're associating with that heathen Khalidia (Nagash would NOT be happy). Well, all of the ones that dont fit the theme, any way. Which means Arkhan stays as Arkhan, and Ramkohtep probably gets nothing because when am I ever going to field him?

Out on the dunes, near the marsh of madness, roams a beast known only as the Dune Reaper. It appears as a dust-cloud in the form of a man, appearing seemingly out of thin air, his mortal form dispersing into the desert winds just as fast. It is said to have been a man who dared defy Nagash, his body reduced to ashes and scattered across the desert sands as an example. He made a deal with death himself: Return life to his ashes, allow him to return to the material world as a messenger of death for brief periods, to end the life of one chosen by Djaf, and in return the man will be granted peace in the afterlife. However, he may reach this promised land only after Nagash lies dead, never to return to the realm of mortals.
Counts as Prince Apophas

Also, I need a name for The Forsaken City, because saying The Forsaken City every time I need to reference the place just starts to sound silly after awhile. Suggestions?

Expect pictures of the (Unpainted) Dune Reaper soon. I've created the model, a really simple conversion (Just a Black Knight kit for the upper body and lots of greenstuff), now I just need to wait for it to dry and then take pictures.

Sorry for the delay, had some problems with the lamp and getting the camera to focus. I decided on the legs looking like they do instead of normal, human-esque legs just to make it slightly easier to tell he's supposed to be prince beetle-man (Not that its that easy to tell anyway). He'll be painted up in various shades of brown, and giving highlights (Or maybe drybrushed on, havent decided) with Texture Paints to bring out the fact that he's made of sand.

It is said that on the day of his birth Prince Aphos was bitten by a wandering serpent, its bite powerful enough to stop an elephant* dead in its tracks. His son quickly losing life, the king became desperate. He prayed to Asph, pledged his sons life to her servitude. In return, she would grant him resiliency to the Asp, its venom coursing through his veins as if it where his own blood. However, should the prince betray this oath to the Asp queen, he shall be killed by the venom, even in his skeletal state. He is also said the wield a staff enchanted by Asaph herself, in the shape of the very snake that had bitten him on that day. Its wooden frame is said to writhe under his finger tips, and its head firing large spheres of venom at his foes.

*Small aside note, do elephants exist in the warhammer world?

On rare occasions, when the stars align and the gods will it, Kohtep himself rides to war upon a chariot crafted by Nagash himself, a mockery of King Setteras chariot. It was enchanted with his dark magics, its scythed wheels wreathed in hell-fire, the mere lingering presence of its creators touch deflecting physical blows. It is a rallying call to the forsaken forces, its very presence dominating the will of the lesser undead. The king wields a blade forged in the underworld itself, stolen by Nagash. The blade gives off the subtle glow of warpfire, and upon striking, a large blaze erupts from the blade, sheathing the enemy in a cloud of fire.

Counts as Settera

The city was once a hopeful place, a gateway to the lands beyond Nehekara. It saw many travelers come and go, many a caravan would stop at the city to restock, and the king quickly grew rich on foreign gold. The king lived in excess, his riches fulfilling every vice he could desire, while his people lived in poverty. All who spoke against him would disappear in the night, never to be seen again. For many years he lived this life of pleasure, slowly growing more and more distanced from his people and his gods. Just as he had forsaken the gods, the gods had forsaken him. His kingdom slowly turning to ashes while he threw extravagant feasts in his grand halls, until all that remained among the ruins was his grand palace, a reminder of what once was. He was all that remained of his shining kingdom, still living in grandeur amongst the wreck, as though all was still right in his lands. It remained this way until the coming of Nagash, when the sorry remnants of the kings will was easily dominated by the Great Necromancers power.

(Note, the vist from Micheal would have been before the fall really took hold)

The unification begins. This happens around the same time, maybe a bit earlier that, the latest update to the bloodborn.

Khotep stirred from his slumber once again, awakened by his masters call. Nagash had need of his minion once again, Khotep could feel it in his ancient bones. As he stumbled out of his sacred tomb, he ordered his priests to prepare his subjects for war, and begin the binding rituals. The king knew what was demanded of him, for he felt masters call in the back of his mind, urging him to head north. He knew not what to prepare for, nor why he was to go, he knew only that it was Nagash's will, and his will is a powerful thing indeed. Khotep tried in vain to deny it, for days he fought desperately against the voices in his head, but Nagash's will far surpassed his own, and with time, he was overwhelmed by the command. His thoughts where pushed aside, all replaced with the desire to serve, accompanied by the sound of war drums beating in the north. In the end, he gave in to Nagash's will, leaving in the night with only his most trusted priest and a band of Horse Archers, leaving Avarus in the hands of Prince Aphos.
