I have finally gotten the ok for my LoW conversion for a tournament coming up in Seattle in January
So have to make my list now. I am down to 4 options and need some advice, insight, or options for fine narrowing down thing for I can get some real practice in before the tournament. If a mix of these would work that be cool aswell. I am open to sugestions.
Real quickly about my play style. I have been playing Nids for 5 years> I Use to play Null list in 5th and did well with them. 6th I had to learn a new play style walking across the table. Now I like to go back to my roots of the null style but I think a hybrid between the two will do. I Tend to Play very aggressively. I am not afraid to take risk. I learned that being bold can give great rewards. Playing the Trap door style is truly hard for me but I can if need be.

First off the lists.

List #1
+++ LAN 1850 (1850pts) +++
+ No Force Org Slot (75pts) +
Tyrannocyte (75pts) [5x Deathspitters]
+ HQ (480pts) +
Hive Tyrant (240pts)
Hive Tyrant (240pts)
+ Elites (85pts) +
Malanthrope Brood (85pts)
+ Troops (90pts) +
Ripper Swarm Brood (45pts
Ripper Swarm Brood (45pts)
+ Heavy Support (155pts) +
Carnifex Brood (155pts)
+ Lords of War (565pts) +
Barbed Hierodule (565pts)
++ Tyranids: Codex (2014) (Formation Detachment) (400pts) ++
+ Formation (400pts) +
Living Artillery Node (400pts)
[Exocrine]
[Biovore, Biovore, Biovore]
Tyranid Warrior Brood
Tyranid Warrior [Deathspitter, Scything Talons]
Tyranid Warrior [Deathspitter, Scything Talons]
Tyranid Warrior, [Barbed Strangler] Scything Talons]
This list gives me some great shooting options. The Lan is a proven formation that works well. With the Barbed Hierodule opening tanks and the like I should have a target rich envierment for the LAN and the tyrants. The Droppoding Fex’s will alow me t put pressure in areas I need to. I like the concept of this list but I have yet to play test it.
What would I have to worry about with this list? Is the lack of bubble wrap a concern?

List #2
+++ Tyranids 1850 Pre Spore Pods (1850pts) +++
+ HQ (470pts) +
Hive Tyrant (240pts)
Hive Tyrant (230pts)
+ Elites (45pts) +
Venomthrope Brood (45pts)
+ Troops (440pts) +
Ripper Swarm Brood (45pts)
Termagant Brood (160pts) [20x Fleshborer Termagant]
10x Devourer Termagant [10x Devourer]
Tervigon (*30 termagants) (235pts) [Adrenal Glands, Crushing Claws, Electroshock Grubs, Stinger Salvo]

+ Heavy Support (330pts) +
Carnifex Brood (165pts)
Carnifex Brood (165pts)
+ Lords of War (565pts) +
Barbed Hierodule (565pts)
This is the list I have considered for a while. It has a great tarp pit unit and good fire power. But it has to foot slog across the board. I have played this list a few times and it has done well. It is slow though and target priority is not all that hard for my opponent.

List #3
+++ All-out war (1850pts) +++
+ No Force Org Slot (175pts) +
Tyrannocyte (100pts) [5x Venom Cannon]
Tyrannocyte (75pts) [5x Deathspitters]
+ HQ (460pts) +
Hive Tyrant (230pts
Hive Tyrant (230pts
+ Elites (85pts) +
Malanthrope Brood (85pts)
+ Troops (30pts)
Mucolid Spore Cluster (15pts)
Mucolid Spore Cluster (15pts)
+ Fast Attack (155pts) +
Hive Crone (155pts)
+ Heavy Support (380pts) +
(80pts) [Biovore, Biovore]
Carnifex Brood (150pts)
Carnifex Brood (150pts)
+ Lords of War (565pts) +
Barbed Hierodule (565pts)
This one goes all out in trying to fit in as much fire power and Strike power as possible. Like the first one the Barbed Hierodule will help to provide juicy targets for the Biovores and the tyrants. The fexs going in will give me a great hammer to threaten anywhere I want 2nd turn. I feel IK and Serpent spam should be a fair match up. Any thought on weakness of the list will be welcomed.

List #4
+++ True options (1848pts) +++
+ No Force Org Slot (150pts) +
Tyrannocyte (75pts) [5x Deathspitters]
Tyrannocyte (75pts) [5x Deathspitters]
+ HQ (460pts) +
Hive Tyrant (230pts)
Hive Tyrant (230pts)
+ Elites (85pts) +
Malanthrope Brood (85pts)
+ Troops (133pts) +
Ripper Swarm Brood (45pts)
Termagant Brood (88pts)
11x Devourer Termagant
+ Fast Attack (155pts) +
Hive Crone (155pts)
+ Heavy Support (300pts) +
Carnifex Brood (150pts)
Carnifex Brood (150pts)
+ Lords of War (565pts) +
Barbed Hierodule (565pts)

This list lets me hold obj. better and still hits like a tone of bricks. With the crone helping out it should handle IK well I think.

I am really looking forward to this tournament as it is my first 2 day 5 game one. Any advice would be welcomed.

I like both 1, and 4. List one does concern me about the lack of bubble wrap, having big juicy targets just calls out for some protection.

List 4 also suffers from "wheres the Troops?" But looks like the threat count will keep the foe off ballence. Soapbox time... You really want to find 20 points to put Thorax Hives on the Tyrants. Trim a few Devourers off the Termagants if nothing else...

Minor nit-pick on list 1...The LAN gives pinning as a special rule, so inside a LAN, Venom Cannon is a better use of the special rule. (The re-roll makes up for the smaller Blast)

I have played many games with the Egrubs and I have used it only them a small and full of time. With the Barbed in the list I really feel I need them to be honest.

In list 4 I could drop the hive crone for egrubs and 3 biovores. is it worth it?

Well it may be a "style" thing...it also depends on what sort of things you see...(the "meta" But I find E-grubs to be a exelent answer to armor spam, and big blobs o' infantry.... big blobs is on the "outs" right now, but at a tourney, I'd expect at least a little bit of "counter meta" to pop up. In a lot of ways Tyranids are counter-meta, and that works to our advantage.

For me, I always want some way to plop down some Templates, and/or Blast markers, so Biovores are good in my book, I also tend to really like Mawloc(s) I don't have any direct experience with a Gargantuan, but I suspect it needs a screen to work at max efficiency.... Lacking that, I think tossing Lots of threats down range is a good alternative.
